June 2022 Favorites

Hi everyone,

Happy Friday! As it’s the last day of the month, I thought it would be the perfect time to do my monthly favorites. I have a pretty good mix of stuff this month, so let’s get into it.

Starting with beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my June BoxyCharm box, and if you haven’t read that yet, I’ll link it below. My first Boxy favorite is the Chella Dual Liquid Eyeliner Pearl. This is a double ended liquid eyeliner, one side is blue, the other is black and they are formulated with pearl pigments to give them a nice shine. I have yet to try the blue, but I’ve been wearing the black and I like it a lot. The pearl doesn’t come through quite as much but I don’t mind. It’s long wearing, doesn’t smudge and because the brush is tapered, it gives you a lot of control over the size and style of the line you’re doing. I definitely recommend.

My next beauty favorite is the Violet Voss SunKissed Summer Eyeshadow and Pressed Pigment Palette. I am currently working on a Three Recent Looks with this palette, so I won’t say too much, but I do really like it. The formulation and pigmentation of the shadows is top tier. There’s quite a bit of diversity within the colors and you see that once you start swatching, so you have quite a few options when it comes to looks with this palette. I really like Violet Voss as a brand, I have a couple of their other palettes and they’re a mainstay in my eyeshadow palette collection.

IMG_1680

My second to last beauty favorite is the Yensa Tone Up Primer Essential Glow. I was slightly unsure if my skin would like this when I got it, but I’ve been using it since and I can tell you that both myself and my skin are very happy with it. It has 8 super powered skin loving ingredients, black sesame oil, black seaweed, black tea, shiitake mushroom, black rice, Korean black raspberry, nettle and chia seed. There is no parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, phthalates and it’s animal cruelty free. What this does do is makes your makeup last all day while minimizing the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles while having a satin-sheen finish. I can be kind of picky with what I like in a face primer, but this one has found a way into my makeup bag and I think it will be there for a while.

IMG_1683

And my last beauty favorite is the Volition Beauty Turmeric Brightening Polish. I’ve been using this since I got it and I like it a lot. This is turmeric based and it helps to brighten, smooth, tone and hydrate skin while helping to promote overall skin radiance and give you a natural glow. I think a good scrub is always a good thing to have. I use this on my legs when I shave and I’ve been seeing a definite difference. My legs are even softer than they were before and they are definitely extra hydrated. My only thing is because this is turmeric based, it doesn’t smell the best, but I can definitely overlook that because of the results. If you’re looking for a good body scrub, I would recommend giving this a try.

IMG_1684

Moving on, I have a book favorite and it’s Long Train Runnin’ Our Story of The Doobie Brothers by Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons with Chris Epting. I’ve mentioned before how much I love The Doobie Brothers, they are a band I grew up with, they were a HUGE part of my childhood, and I still love them just as much. So when I saw Pat and Tom where releasing a book I was incredibly excited and this is everything I wanted it to be and more. There were obviously some stories I knew, some I knew parts of and a lot that I didn’t know at all, it was incredibly interesting to read the different perspectives from the guys that were there and not just one long story. There were parts where I laughed, parts where I felt all the emotions, a lot of Tom when he was leaving the band, but I think what I did the most, what this book kind of forced me to do was go back and look at a lot of their songs in a different way. The lyrics, the arrangements, all of it. I guess what I’m trying to say is that it made me really, listen to the music. And I thank Pat and Tom for taking the time to write it down because The Doobie Brothers have such and incredible story and history and I’m honored to know more of it than ever before. If you are a casual or longtime fan of theirs or just love music history I highly recommend giving this book a read. You will learn so much and the pictures they included are fantastic.

IMG_1627

And my last favorite isn’t a music favorite, although there are some songs I am liking right now, that’s for next month’s favorites, but it’s a podcast favorite. My podcast. I mention my podcast The Unlikely Motorsports Duo each month because I feel like we grow so much every time we release an episode. We have a spicy one up at the moment on our Twitch channel from this week, go watch it (please and thank you!). And something else that’s exciting, we now have merch! We currently have mugs, can koozies, stickers and magnets. Also, if you are a driver, brand, company or involved in motorsports in any way and want to be represented on another platform, let’s do a merch swap! I always wear some form of motorsports merchandise during the show so if you have clothes, stickers, mugs, etc, reach out and we’ll do that! My cohost and I are having a ton of fun doing the show and we’re excited to keep growing. We actually have a fun motorsports based game night coming up, so keep an eye on my social media for the time and date of that!

IMG_1553

That about wraps it up for this month, if we have any of the same favorites let me know and if not, I’d love to know what your June favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great June :).

October Favorites

Hi everyone,

I know it’s a day late, but today I’m going to be doing my October Favorites. It’s late because I went to a Halloween party on the 30th and wanted to include my costume in this post. I think I have a pretty good mix of favorites this month, so let’s get into it.

Starting with beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my October BoxyCharm box, and I’ll link that below if you haven’t read it. My first Boxy favorite is the Appeal Cosmetics Adhesive Liquid Liner in Jet Black. This is the first adhesive liner I’ve tried and I really do like it. It’s so much easier than messing with a tube of glue, all you do is apply, wait for it to get tacky, then put your lashes on. Easy peasy. On the liner side of this, it’s ultra fine and you can easily do a thin or thick line. I definitely recommend giving this a try if you’re wanting to ditch the lash glue.

IMG_9448

IMG_9449

My next Boxy favorite is the Camara Aunique Beauty Mary Lash. These are faux mink and the most natural in their collection. They give you a nice, softness to your look while still giving you a good amount of volume. I’ve worn these a couple different times and I like them a lot. I’m definitely going to be picking up some more lashes from Camara Aunique in the future.

IMG_9451

IMG_9512

IMG_9513

My last Boxy favorite is the Ace Beaute Falling For You Palette. I’m not going to say too much about this palette because I’m going to be doing a Three Recent Looks post with it, but what I will say is that I like it a lot. I think it’s super versatile, perfect for this time of year but you could wear it during the warmer months as well and the shadows are fantastic. Definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re looking for a great fall palette.

IMG_9445

IMG_9447

And my last beauty favorite is the look I did to go with my Halloween costume. It’s very similar to the one I did for the 4th of July, with a few changes, but I like it a lot and it really added to the whole overall look.

IMG_9572

Moving on to more random favorites, we have my Halloween costume itself. This year I wanted something really fun and sparkly so that’s exactly what I got. Sparkly sailor. I think this is one of my favorite costumes I’ve done in a while, I had a lot of fun with it and it’s super cute. And honestly for being 90% sequins it wasn’t itchy which sequined things sometimes can be.

IMG_9578

IMG_9580

And my last favorite is a music favorite and it’s the Doobie Brothers new album Liberte. You guys, I honestly can’t say enough good things about this album. From top to bottom it’s incredible, I genuinely really like every song, I don’t listen to Amen Old Friend as much because it makes emotional every time I do, which isn’t a bad thing, but ya know. But I genuinely can’t pick a favorite song, they’re all so great. The only thing I don’t love is the fact that I preordered it and they’ve had delays in getting them out so I haven’t gotten a physical copy yet, but I know they were supposed to start shipping end of October so I’m excited to get my hands on it. If you haven’t listened to Liberte yet I highly, highly recommend doing so.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we have any of the same favorites let me know and if not I’d love to know what your October favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great October :).

September Favorites

Hi everyone,

As it’s the last day of the month I thought it would be the perfect time to do my September Favorites. I was so busy this month and I feel like I didn’t try a whole lot of new things, but I still have a pretty good mix so let’s get into it.

Starting with beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my September BoxyCharm box, and if you haven’t read that I’ll link it below. My first Boxy favorite is the Pinky Rose Cosmetics Multi Use Makeup Base Sticks. This is the Duo Hip Hop and Jazz set. I have yet to use the Jazz side, but I have used Hip Hop a couple of times and I’m really liking it. Hip Hop is a cream primer stick and I’ve been using it as an eyeshadow primer. I like it because it’s on the slightly thicker side and once you apply it you can really feel that it’s going to do it’s job. It’s definitely made it’s way into my eyeshadow primer collection and it’s the only one that I have in stick form, so I’ve been reaching for it more purely for the convenience.

IMG_9307

IMG_9308

My last Boxy favorite is the Half Caked 813 Duo Brush. This brush is 100% synthetic, has a light lavender handle and the brush itself is a a tan shade on the bottom with a brown line in the middle and white fibers on top. This brush is decently soft, and it did sort out it’s shape after being smashed in the box, so it’s fully functioning now. One of the selling features of this brush is it’s supposed to give you an airbrushed finish and it really does. I usually have one or two brushes I use for blush, but this one is quite good and I think it’s decently priced for brush like this.

IMG_9314

And my last favorite is the Tarte Fall Feels Palette. I did a separate post on this, which I’ll link below, so I’m not going to talk too much about it. But I will say that I’m in the middle of doing my Three Recent Looks post for it and I’m liking it a lot. These are fun shadows to play with and I definitely recommend giving this palette a try if you haven’t already.

IMG_9261

IMG_9263

Moving on I have a TV show favorite and it’s the new season of the Great British Bake Off. I love Bake Off, it’s always one of my favorite shows and for the longest time America had to wait to see the seasons but with the deal they have with Netflix we get the episodes a couple days after they air in the UK and I love that. If you’re not watching this season yet, you should be, it’s a good one.

And my last favorite, well favorites, are music favorites. The first is the most recent Little Mix song Love Sweet Love. It’s such a bop, they’re making top tier music like always, but it’s so good and the music video is dreamy. Their costuming and set design is just epic.

My second music favorite is the most recent Doobie Brothers song American Dream. I’ve had this one on repeat as of late and it has all the hallmarks of a song of summer but you just want to sing along, and I obviously already know all the words. Their new album Liberte is out tomorrow and I can’t wait to hear everything. I preordered it and I’m excited to get it. If the entire album is as good as what’s been released so far we are in for an epic album.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we have any of the same favorites let me know and if not I’d love to know what your September favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great September :).

What I Got For Christmas 2019

Hi everyone,

Today I thought it would be fun to share with you guys what I got for Christmas. I do want to say that I’m in no way trying to brag, I’m one of those people that enjoy reading and watching this type of post. This year I didn’t have a real list of things I wanted, so I was happily surprised by a few of these gifts.

The first thing we have is what was in my stocking. Besides my favorite candy, there was a Bath and Body Works Warm Vanilla Sugar mist and body lotion. It’s my favorite scent from Bath and Body Works. Along with that there was a little flashlight, I love little practical things like this and you can never have too many flashlights. The last two things that were in my stocking were a mini Too Faced Peach Perfect Mattifying Loose Setting Powder infused with peach and sweet fig milk and the Peach Kiss Lipstick in Sex On The Peach.

WIGC1

I used the setting powder yesterday and today and I really like it. Added bonus, it smells like peaches. The lipstick also smells like peaches and it’s a comfort matte, long wearing and also infused with peach and sweet fig milk. Too Faced lipsticks are always really pigmented and this one is no different. I believe there are 13 shades of the Peach Kiss Lipsticks and I’m definitely going to be purchasing a few more.

WIGC2

WIGC3

Continuing on with the beauty theme, the first thing I unwrapped was the Too Faced Christmas Cookie House Party set. I was honestly so, so shocked to see this because I had mentioned it in a text to my mom like right after it came out then didn’t say anything after. I was considering buying this for myself as a Christmas gift but it was sold out on Sephora and Too Faced when I looked but for whatever reason I didn’t check at my local Sephora and they had a couple left which I’m super happy about. I’m going to be doing a separate post on this, so I’m not going to get into it too much, but I will say that yesterday I wore a couple of the shadows and I’m really happy with them. It was a good makeup day.

WIGC14

WIGC15

The second beauty item I got was the Sephora Collection Frosted Kisses Lip Stories Lipstick Set. This is also going to get it’s own post, but I will say that I’ve swatched all of these, wore one on Christmas Day and I’m wearing one now. I’m really liking them and I recommend them.

WIGC13

Next up we have a fashion item and it’s this light powder pink shoulder bag from H&M. I have a few different handbags and clutches but nothing like this. Like I said this is a light powder pink suede with silver hardware and leathery handles. It has a snap closure, one medium sized pocket on the very front, the main compartment and another pocket inside the main. You can adjust the way you wear it, so if the handles are the same length then it’s a shoulder bag, but if you stretch it out you can wear it like a crossbody. I didn’t realize when I was taking the pictures that it was a little crooked but that’s because of the pull on the door and not that bag.

WIGC9

WIGC10

WIGC11

WIGC12

Moving on we have a couple of practical things. The first is a 2020 Erin Condren Planner. I got my first Erin Condren Planner last Christmas and it was an absolute game changer, so I knew I had to have one for the new year. This will be getting it’s own post, but I did go for a different pattern, different colors and I put my first and middle name on it.

WIGC6

WIGC7

The second practical gift I got was a calendar. I have a couple of calendars that I use for different things and sometimes they’re different sizes but this one is my main calendar. There are two or three themes I typically go for when it comes to calendars, this one is jet themed. And has some great pictures.

WIGC4

WIGC5

And the last thing we have is music related, and it’s the Doobie Brothers Live From The Beacon Theatre Blu-Ray and CD Set. I talked about this when it came out, I have it on my phone and they showed a little bit of it on PBS. I like to have a physical copy of music, hence the CD Set and if I can help it I buy all discs in Blu-Ray. So I’m excited to have a music night and watch the full concert.

WIGC8

That about wraps it up for this post, I did also receive some socks, because it’s not Christmas if you don’t get socks, and a mug but it’s currently in the dishwasher because I used it this morning.

Until next time, enjoy your gifts and I hope you all had an amazing Christmas :).

June Favorites

Hi everyone,

Today, as it’s the end of the month I thought it would be the perfect time to do my June favorites. I have quite a few things I loved this month, and a pretty good mix, so let’s get into it.

Starting with beauty, I have a few favorites from my June Sephora Play Box and I will link that post down below if you haven’t read it. My first Sephora Play favorite is the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in Vanilla. I mentioned that I had never used a lip sleeping mask, so I didn’t quite know what to expect, but I really like this one. You put this on before you go to bed and when you wake up you remove the remaining product and you’re left with really smooth and moisturized lips. This also smells really good and I definitely recommend it.

JUSP5

Next we have the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Quench Hydrating Primer. I’ve been using this primer off and on for a while now and it’s one that I really like. It has marine plant extracts, turmeric and hyaluronic acid which helps to really wake up your skin and it gives you a great base to work with. The Tarte Rainforest of the Sea line has a ton of great products and this is a primer that I always recommend.

JUSP3

And my last Sephora Play favorite is the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair BarriAIR Cream. I’ve been slowly incorporating this into my skincare routine and I’m really liking it. It’s really light, sinks into the skin pretty quickly and I feel very moisturized.

JUSP4

Moving on, I have a jewelry favorite and it’s these earrings. I did a whole post about them and I’ll link that down below. But basically they’re from Earfleek and I like them a lot. They’re simple but I think they add the perfect little bit to a look.

EF5

Next I have a racing favorite and it’s the 24 Hours of Le Mans. One of the biggest races of the year, it takes place at the Circuit de le Sarthe, Le Mans, France and this was the 87th running. I watched most of it, like I try to every year, and it was very exciting and there was a lot going on like in any endurance race and then there were some not so great moments. But I would one thousand percent recommend watching it if you never have.

My last kind of random favorite is a TV show, Good Omens on Amazon Prime. I had been seeing ads for Good Omens everywhere and it looked kind of interesting so I decided to give it a go. I’m so glad I did because it’s brilliant and I absolutely loved it. I think the casting was absolutely perfect and I love the humor that it brings. The only thing that I didn’t like is that’s it’s only six episodes because I wanted more, but being based off of a book, I understand. And now I’m going to read the book because I’m interested to see how it translated and because the book has great reviews. I absolutely, 10/10 recommend it.

And my last couple of favorites are music favorites. The first is the song Holy Mountain by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. This song came out of nowhere, it popped up randomly on my Spotify and I’m happy I did it. This was my first Noel Gallagher experience and because I liked this one so much I’ve been having a little look through his music and finding songs I quite like. The song Rattling Rose from his new album Black Star Dancing is a great listen.

My second music favorite is The Doobie Brothers Live from the Beacon Theater. This concert was recorded in November of 2018, the first time in 25 years they had played there and this concert is special because they played their albums Toulouse Street and The Captain and Me. PBS showed a handful of the concert recently and it was great. I know The Captain and Me pretty well but I only knew a couple songs from Toulouse Street so it’s been great to hear some of these songs for the first time. I did preorder the 2CD set and the Blu-ray, the 2CD, DVD and 2CD + DVD is being released on June 28th and the Blu-ray on July 12th. So I’m really excited to watch and listen to the full concert and I highly recommend giving it a watch/listen.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we had any of the same favorites this month let me know and if not I’d love to know what your June favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great June :).

April Favorites

Hi everyone,

As it’s the last day of April, I thought today would be the perfect day to do my favorites. I think that I have a pretty good mix this month, so let’s get into it.

Starting with beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my April Sephora Play Box, I’ll leave a link to that down below if you haven’t read it. The first is the Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream. I’ve been using an eye cream that I really liked but I was interested by this because I’m a big Clinique fan. And since I started using it I’ve not been disappointed. It hydrates, brightens and I feel like I look more refreshed. So this now has a permanent spot in my skincare cabinet.

APB9

My second Sephora Play favorite is the Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer in Smoothing Primer. I really like this, it smells good and it’s lightweight. It also really locks in my makeup and when I put it on I feel like it really gives me an extra nice surface to work with. If you’re looking for a new primer I would say definitely check this one out.

APB7

My last Sephora Play favorite is the Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Treatment in Dream. I put this on before I go to bed and the next morning I can see/feel the difference. My lips are very moisturized and they have a slight plump to them. This also smells really good and there’s a slight pink tint to it so if you wanted to wear this during the day you’d get a little color.

APB4

APB5

APB6

And my last beauty favorite is hairstyle. I got bored a few weeks ago and wanted to change up my bun a little so after I pulled my hair into a high ponytail I decided to braid it then shape it into the bun and I’m really happy with how it turned out. APRF3

APRF2

Next I have a fashion favorite and it’s this off the shoulder light blue top with little flowers on the sleeves from H&M. I bought this a little while and hadn’t had a chance to wear it yet, so when Easter came around I figured it was a good time. And I finished this look with a pair of white wedges. I don’t know if you can still get this top but they have quite a few other off the shoulder options.

APRF6

Moving on I have a food favorite and it’s Meiji Hello Panda cookies. I was at the grocery store a few weeks ago in the Asian food section looking for Pocky and I saw these next to it on the shelf. And they’re little cream filled cookies that are shaped like pandas and have pandas doing various activities on them. I bought them in strawberry and in the store they also had chocolate, which I want to try and I believe there are other flavors you can get online. But they’re really good and a fun little snack.

APRF4

APRF5

My second to last favorite is a puzzle I did at the beginning of the month. You guys know how much I love puzzles. This one is 1,000 pieces and it took me a little longer to complete than the last one I did but most of the pieces are similar color, which in the grand scheme of things I appreciate. But this is a Thomas Kinkade and it’s a winter scene. Thomas Kinkade puzzles are always so pretty and I have a few sitting in my Amazon cart right now.

APRF1

And my last favorite is a music favorite. It’s the Doobie Brothers Brotherhood album. This album falls into that time period of the band’s music that I didn’t previously know a lot about and I only recently got into. And let me tell you, this album in my opinion, is super underrated. I mean top to bottom it’s full of fantastic, well written, well produced songs. If you haven’t ever listened to it, I would 100% recommend doing so.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we had any of the same favorites let me know and if not I’d love to know what you favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great April :).

February Favorites

Hi everyone,

Today, as it’s the end of the month, I’m going to be doing my favorites. This month I feel like I tried a lot of new things and liked a lot of new things, so let’s get into it.

Starting off with beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my February Sephora Play Box and if you haven’t read that post I’ll leave a link down below. The first favorite I have is the Clinique Moisture Surge 72 Hour Auto Replenishing Hydrator. I’ve been using this since I got it and holy hydration Batman, it’s incredible. I’ve used and continue to use quite a few different moisturizers that have been great but this one is so different. It’s light and sinks into my skin quickly, my face feels so soft after using it and it really does hydrate for 72 hours. Over the weekend I had a day where I didn’t wear any makeup and I could feel this still working and I’m so impressed and I definitely recommend giving this a try.

FBSP3

My second Sephora Play favorite is the Clinique Quickliner for Eyes Intense in Intense Ebony. This is so good. It goes on really smooth, is nicely pigmented and once it’s on it stays in place. I know this comes in others colors, so I’m going to for sure take a look at those.

FBSP5

FBSP6

My last Play favorite is the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Maple. I’ve mentioned before how much I like Bite Beauty, they make some of my favorite lipsticks, and this one has now become one of them. This is in a deep brick red shade and it’s so pretty. The formulation of these lipsticks is fantastic and they have great staying power.

FBSP7

FBSP8

FBSP9

I’m also including a picture of me wearing the Clinique eyeliner and the Bite Beauty lipstick so you can see what they look like on.

FBSP11

I have two more beauty favorites and the first of those is the Curel HydraTherapy Wet Skin Moisturizer. This came from the Winter Walmart Beauty Box, I’ll leave a link to that post below. For me the worst part about showering is moisturizing afterwards, I don’t know why, maybe because I feel like it takes too long. So when I saw this I was excited and I’m absolutely loving it. You apply it right after you get out of the shower, then towel dry and you’re good. I have noticed that my skin overall seems to be softer and I already went a bought a bigger version.

WWBB7

And my last beauty favorite is the Karrueche X ColourPop She Palette. I did a whole post on this palette, link will be below, and since getting it, I’ve been playing around and creating different looks and having a lot of fun. One of the main things that drew me to this palette was the fact that I don’t have a lot of these colors. There’s 12 overall, 4 lighter shimmers, 4 metallic and 4 mattes. ColourPop is a great brand and I always look forward to buying from them.

CPP1

CPP7

My next favorite is a racing favorite and it’s the NHRA. Racing season started again this month and the first two races have been great. We’re in for an exciting season and as always I’m back to writing about it, so if you’re interested keep and eye out for those posts.

And my last favorite is a music favorite. It’s the Doobie Brothers album World Gone Crazy. This album came out a few years ago, but it plays like the rest of the Doobie Brothers music, timeless. I grew up listening to their music, in fact when I was in the 4th grade we had to do one of those ‘get to know each other’ projects and when it came to part where we had to show our current favorite album, I pulled out the Best of the Doobies CD. So I’ve always been a fan. What I like about this album is that top to bottom, there isn’t a song that I don’t like. The songwriting is fantastic and to me it sounds like quintessential Doobie Brothers. If you haven’t listened to it I highly recommend doing so.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we had any of the same favorites this month let me know and if not, I’d love to know what your favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great February :).
