Valentine’s Day Treats

Hi everyone,

Today I’m going to be talking about some fun and delicious Valentine’s Day treats. It’s currently snowing here, so I was feeling cozy and after this I’m going to be doing some baking. I have three different treats to share with you, so let’s get into it.

The first one is Strawberry Truffle Kiss Cookies, these are really easy to make will be a favorite of whoever you give them to. This recipe makes 48 cookies.

What You Need:

  • 1 box of strawberry cake mix
  • 8 tablespoons of melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon of strawberry extract
  • 4 ounces of softened cream cheese
  • Pink sanding sugar
  • 48 chocolate kisses

What You Do:

  • The first step is to take the wrappers off of the kisses and put them in the freezer. This is so they don’t melt when you put them on the cookies.
  • Next add the cake mix, butter, egg and strawberry extract to a bowl and mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Once you have a soft dough, add the cream cheese and mix until well combined.
  • Put the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  • Once you take the dough out, roll it into 48 balls and run through the pink sanding sugar, making sure it’s well coated.
  • Bake the cookies at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 8 minutes. Once they’re baked let them sit for a few minutes before moving them to parchment paper/a cooling rack.
  • Top each cookie with a frozen kiss and let them cool completely.
  • Serve and enjoy!

The next treat we have is Pink Hot Chocolate. I love making hot chocolate from scratch like this, and it’s always a great choice during the winter months. This recipe makes 3 or 4 drinks depending on the size of your mug.

What You Need:

  • 4 cups of milk. If you wanted to make this thicker and creamier then you can do 2 cups of half and half and 2 cups of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 8 ounces of white chocolate chips
  • Pink food coloring
  • Toppings, whipped cream, marshmallows, etc

What You Do:

  • In a medium sauce pan add the milk/half and half, vanilla and white chocolate chips and put on medium heat.
  • Stir it occasionally until everything is combined and you’ve reached the desired temperature. Make sure you don’t let it boil.
  • Add the food coloring until you have the desired color.
  • Pour into mugs and top with your desired toppings.
  • Serve and enjoy!

The last treat we have is M&M’s Caramel Cookies. I quite like M&M’s and I saw this recipe on the back of the bag, so I thought I would try it and they’re so good.

What You Need:

  • 2 sticks of softened salted butter
  • 2/3 cup of brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 2 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 3/4 cups of M&M’s Caramel Chocolate Candies Cupid’s Mix (these are the red, pink and white ones)

What You Do:

  • In a large bowl, add the butter and both sugars and cream until smooth. Once smooth, add the egg and vanilla extract and beat until well combined.
  • In a different bowl sift the flour, baking soda and salt together. Stir this into the butter mixture.
  • Then add in the M&M’s, making sure it’s well combined and refrigerate the dough for at least an hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Form the dough into rounded tablespoons and drop them on the tray 2 inches apart.
  • If you want chewy cookies make them for 8-10 minutes and if you want crispy cookies bake for 12-14 minutes.
  • Serve and enjoy!

That about wraps it up for this post, if you guys make any of these treats tweet me a picture or tag me on Instagram. I’d love to see how they turn out.

Until next time, enjoy your treats and have a Happy Valentine’s Day :).

Halloween drinks: non alcoholic edition

Hi everyone,

Today I’m going to be doing part two of my series of Halloween posts and it’s all about non alcoholic Halloween drinks. If you’re having a Halloween party or just want a cool drink for Halloween night these drinks are really fun and great for kids and those who don’t feel like having a cocktail.

The first drink is Polyjuice Potion Punch. I’m a Harry Potter fan and I think this is a really creative way to incorporate it into your Halloween fun.

What You Need:

  • A 1/2 gallon of Lime Sherbet
  • 2 liters of Sprite
  • A few drops of neon green food coloring

What You Do:

  • In a large punch bowl use a spoon or ice cream scoop and scoop the lime sherbet into the middle.
  • Then slowly pour in the 2 liters of Sprite, make sure to do this slowly as it will fizz and potentially run over.
  • And finally add the neon green food coloring, a few drops should do it, until it really pops.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Next we have Fanta Jack O’ Lantern Floats, these are super easy and so much fun. This recipe makes eight drinks.

What You Need:

  • 2 liters of Fanta Orange soda
  • 1 container of Vanilla Ice Cream
  • Clear plastic cups, decorated like jack o’ lanterns, this is optional and if you don’t want to go through the process of decorating cups I know they have plastic cups that already look like jack o’ lanterns
  • Orange or Halloween themed straws

What You Do:

  • Take one of the plastic cups and in the bottom pour a little bit of the Fanta.
  • Then to that add a scoop of the vanilla ice cream and pour more Fanta on top until it’s bubbly and float like.
  • Continue this process until you’ve made the desired amount of floats.
  • Add a straw, serve and enjoy!

The second to last drink we have is Hocus Pocus Halloween Punch. Hocus Pocus is a classic and my favorite Halloween movie, so I had to include this one. This recipe makes one drink.

What You Need:

  • 8 ounces of V8 Peach Mango
  • 6 ounces of Izze Peach
  • 1 scoop of Mango Sorbet
  • Halloween straws

What You Do:

  • In a glass, whatever you prefer, pour in the V8 Peach Mango then pour in the Izze Peach.
  • Top that off with the mango sorbet.
  • Add a Halloween straw, serve and enjoy!

And the last drink we have is Magic Potion Punch. This one I’ve made before and it’s honestly really fun and you get to be a bit of a scientist. This can be made in a large punch bowl, but this recipe is by cup.

What You Need:

  • 1/8 of a cup of Lemonade
  • 1/8 of a cup of Grape Juice
  • 3/4 of a cup of Lemon Lime Soda, I use Sprite
  • 1 teaspoon of powdered Grape JELL-O

What You Do:

  • In an 8 ounce cup add the lemonade and the grape juice. Then add in the Sprite and stir to combine.
  • To that add the powdered JELL-O and what will happen is it will start to bubble and fizz making it look like a magic potion. If it doesn’t fizz right away add a little bit more Sprite or whatever soda you’re using. It will make it fizz.
  • Serve and enjoy!

That about wraps it up for this post, if you guys make any of these drinks tweet me a picture or tag me on Instagram.

Until next time, enjoy your drinks and if you guys have any other drink suggestions let me know! 🙂

Valentine’s Day drinks: Non-alcoholic edition

Hi everyone,

Happy February! As Valentine’s Day is coming up I thought it would be fun to do some festive food and drink posts. There will be three in total, one food and two drink, and we’re going to start with some fun and delicious non-alcoholic Valentine’s drinks. Whether you’re having a big party or just want to make some different for your family, these drinks are perfect.

First up we have a Cran-Raspberry Spritzer. Typically Valentine’s Day is full of so much candy and sugar and these are so refreshing.

What you need:

  • 16 ounces of Cranberry-Raspberry juice
  • 20 ounces of lemon-lime soda
  • 1 lemon, quartered
  • Fresh raspberries
  • Ice cubes

What you do:

  • First you’re going to fill four glasses with even amounts of ice. Once you’ve done that divide the Cran-Raspberry juice among the glasses.
  • Then add the Lemon-Lime soda, topping them off and making sure to divide the soda evenly.
  • Take the lemon and squeeze it into the drinks for a hint of brightness and freshness.
  • Garnish with a couple of fresh raspberries and stir.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Next up we have Sweetheart Punch. This drink is not only perfect for Valentine’s Day, but great in the summer.

What you need:

  • 1 container, 64 ounces, of strawberry lemonade
  • 1 liter of lemon-lime soda, for this and all others that call for soda I use Sprite because it’s my favorite
  • 1 container, 1/2 quart of raspberry or strawberry sherbet, whichever you prefer

What you do:

  • Chill the strawberry lemonade and soda in the refrigerator for a few hours.
  • Once chilled, pour the strawberry lemonade and soda into a punch bowl or pitcher. If you go with a pitcher make sure it’s gallon size, and stir to combine.
  • Pour the mixture into glasses and top with a scoop of sherbet.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Our second to last drink is one of the easiest and it’s Red Raspberry Punch.

What you need:

  • 2 liters of 7UP
  • 1 cup of frozen raspberries
  • 1/2 quart of raspberry sherbet

What you do:

  • First, pour roughly half of the 7UP into a punch bowl, this can also be made in a pitcher. Then add the frozen raspberries.
  • Scoop the sherbet into the bowl, or pitcher, and top with the rest of the 7UP.
  • Give it a stir and let the flavors mix together.
  • Serve and enjoy!

And lastly, we have a fun spin on a classic, Shirley Temple floats. There are a couple of different ways you can make a Shirley Temple and this one is one of the easier ways.

What you need:

  • 2 liters of lemon-lime soda or ginger ale
  • 1 large bottle or two small bottles of maraschino cherries
  • 1/2 gallon of vanilla ice cream

What you do:

  • Place a couple scoops of the vanilla ice cream into tall glasses
  • Pour a tablespoon or two of the maraschino cherry brine over the ice cream. If you don’t like grenadine or can’t find it this is a great substitute.
  • Add the soda and top with a few cherries.
  • Serve and enjoy!

That about wraps it up for this post, the next post will be Valentine’s Day treats and that will be posted in a couple of days so look out for that.

Until next time, if you guys have any fun drinks let me know and if you make any of these let me know how they turn out :).
