Blogmas Day Eleven: BoxyCharm, A Year In Review

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Blogmas Day Eleven! Today I’m going to be doing a BoxyCharm Year In Review. I got a lot of great boxes this year and had a ton of favorite products, so I thought it would be good to put them all together and share what I really loved.

January:

The January box was a strong start to the year, and my favorite from this box was the Ace Beaute Bronzed In Paradise Palette. It didn’t feature in any of my recent looks posts, but I do like it and I do use it, it tends to fall to the back of my bronzer drawer, so I need to make a spot for it towards the front.

February:

Ace Beaute made a really great impression in BoxyCharm this year, at least for me, and one of the things I loved in February was the Ace Beaute Nostalgia Palette. I use this all the time, I think it’s a super fun and versatile palette, in fact I talked about it in yesterday’s post. The other thing I loved in February was the Wander Beauty Double Date Lip & Cheek in Rendezvous/Swipe. I use Rendezvous solely as a lip product and I like it a lot. It’s a very pretty shade of pink.

March:

The March box had three items in it that I either loved already or have become staples in my makeup collection. The first of which is the Lime Crime Venus III Palette. This palette is super cute, it has some super pretty shadows in it and I love the versatility it affords. Then there’s the Too Faced Damn Girl Mascara which I’ve loved pretty much since it came out, it’s so good and always does my lashes good. The last product is one that I was initially unsure of because I don’t love rose in beauty and skincare products, but it’s turned into one of my favorites and it’s the Maven Beauty Rose Water Setting Spray. This locks in your makeup and you don’t feel sticky. Because of the rose water, it’s actually kinda refreshing.

April:

In April I received the Flirtacious Looks Monarch Lash Pack and these lashes are SO good! It came with two pairs, Baby Girl, an angled lash and Charmer, a round lash. The second thing I loved from the April box is the Eloise Beauty Get Gleaming Body Glow Illuminator in Champagne Rich. I used this a lot during the summer and it gives a great glow but is also buildable so you can have your desired level of glow.

May:

The May box saw me receiving two things that I have since repurchased and have talked about so many times since. The first is the Sophia + Mabelle Hydrating Hybrid Lipstick in Topless. This is a nude lipstick with the hydration of a balm and it’s so, so good. I honestly recommend, especially if you’re a nude lipstick fan. The second is the Murad City Skin Overnight Detox Moisturizer. I mentioned this in my Winter Skincare post and it’s an excellent moisturizer because it not only moisturizes, but it protects against blue light which is perfect for me because I do spend a bit of time on my computer. My skin definitely likes Murad.

June:

The June box had two things that very much screamed summer to me, a bright lipstick and glowy skin. The bright lipstick came in the form of the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Famous Red, which has become a go to of mine in my red lipstick collection. The glowy skin came from the Touch In Sol Pretty Filter Glowdient Palette, I talk about this all the time, you guys know how much I love it.

July:

In July I got a great mix of great makeup and skincare. The Ofra Mini Mix Palette in Good To Go is something I already loved, so when I saw it was a choice item for July I picked it and it turned out to be a great choice because I just hit pan on the bronzer and because these are magnetic pans, I can just swap out the new and old ones. The BellaPierre Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner in Black has become something I reach for a lot in my eyeliner drawer and I like it a lot, you have a lot of flexibility so you can do the thin precise line or you can do a thick and dramatic wing. On the skincare side, this is when I got the Mudmasky Vitamin Infused Eye Serum, I also talked about this in my Winter Skincare post and I love it, I can see a difference since I started using it.

August:

The August box featured what as become a go to eyeshadow palette for me, the Dito Cosmetics Venus Palette. I used this palette a lot during college football season and when I did my gold eye look for yesterday’s post, this is what I used to do it. I’m also a space nerd, so that made this palette extra fun for me. My second August favorite is the Volition Hibiscus Unspottable Correcting Oil. I have a couple of dark spots on my face, and this has helped tremendously, it’s a great product. Definitely recommend it you’re looking to get rid of any dark spots.

September:

I’m gonna be honest, this was not my favorite box of the year. I did and do like the GlamGlow YouthMud Glow Stimulating Treatment. This is the OG GlamGlow product that made it what it is today and when you use it you can see why. Obviously the more you use it, the more results you see, but when in the 10 or so minutes you have it on, you can tell a difference. The exfoliating properties give you smooth, glowy and soft skin. The other thing I liked in this box is the Half Caked 813, Duo Fiber Brush. I use this for blush, and it gives you an airbrushed finish. It’s also super soft and I like the colors, I don’t have a lot of brushes in this color.

IMG_9285

IMG_9303

IMG_9314

October:

The October box was fantastic. I feel like as we got closer to the end of the year, the boxes got better and better. I’ve talked about this palette a number of times since getting it, but the October box gave me the Ace Beaute Falling For You Palette and I still love it so much. I used it yesterday and it’s still great, the color range, the mix of mattes and shimmer, the color payoff and the formulation are all top notch. This box gave me something I had never tried before, and that was the Appeal Cosmetics Adhesive Liner. I’ve worn this a few times and I do like it, I find it to be quicker and easier than messing around with lash glue, and we all know how much of a mess that can be. I also received a set of lashes that I love, they’re from Camara Aunique Beauty and they’re the Mary Lash. They do give you volume and that oomph that you want from a false lash, but it’s very natural. The last thing in this box that I love is the Tresluce Beauty Like An Artista 4 Piece Brush Set. I know that at the time I received this set the brand was fairly new, but for a new brand they seriously smashed it with the brushes. They’re all super soft, blend nicely and they’re nice to grip.

November:

In November I genuinely loved everything in the box, and I don’t know if that’s happened in the time I’ve been doing BoxyCharm. It started with the Ace Beaute Eyeshadow Amplifying Base in Light, I talk about this all the time, it makes your shadow last all day and it amplifies both mattes and shimmers without being too sticky and tacky. Then we have the Violet Voss Violet Sunset Palette. For being a smaller palette it has a lot of versatility and the colors are so, so pretty. I’ve been using this a lot recently. The Hanalei Beauty Company Matte Bronzer is one that has quickly made it’s way into the front of my bronzer drawer, I love that it’s on the lighter side so you can build it up as much as you want and you get that nice Hawaiian glow. The Luxie Pautips Por La Noche Brush Set was nice to see because I really like Luxie brushes and this came with a cute little pouch which is currently holding these brushes and all the random single brushes I had. The last product in this box is the Bodyography Makeup Brush Cleanser. I used this recently when I cleaned by brushes and having it in the spray bottle was so much quicker and easier and I feel like it didn’t take as much to clean them as it usually does.

December:

I won’t be revealing my thoughts and favorites from the December box in this post, but I will be doing so in my monthly favorites like I always do.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we had any of the same overall Boxy favorites let me know and if not, I’d love to know what you loved from BoxyCharm this year.

Until next time, enjoy your products, I can’t believe Blogmas is almost over and I can’t wait to see what I get next year in BoxyCharm :).

Blogmas Day Three: Winter Skincare Routine

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Blogmas Day Three! Today I thought it would be fun to share my winter skincare routine with you guys. I used to do a skincare routine post every season because I was changing and trying new products all the time, but my skin got very mad at me for doing that. I had to strip it back to very few things and once that started working I added a few things here and there and that’s where I’m at with it right now.

So the first thing I do is take off my eye makeup and lipstick and to do that I used the Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes and Lips. This is a product I’ve been using for ages and I really like it. It has a gentle formula but it’s super effective so you’re not scrubbing and accidently ripping out your lashes.

CLINIQUE - Take The Day Off Makeup Remover For Lids, Lashes & Lips 4.2 oz/ 125 mL

The next thing I do is take off the rest of my makeup with the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Deep Dive Cleansing Gel. I’ve also been using this for a really long time and I still like it a lot. It takes off all of the long wearing makeup and doesn’t leave anything behind.

tarte - SEA Deep Dive Cleansing Gel 5 oz/ 150 mL Clean at Sephora

From there I move to the Volition Hibiscus Unspottable Correcting Oil. This is to help reduce the appearance of dark spots and discoloration along with hydrating and helping with moisture retention. I have a couple of dark spots and I can honestly say that this has helped tremendously with getting them to go away. I’m a little weary sometimes of correcting oils and such because I have used some that have done nothing, but this is not one of those. This is one I highly recommend.

Volition Beauty - Hibiscus Unspottable Correcting Oil 1.1 oz/ 35 mL Clean at Sephora

The next step in my routine is serum and for that I use the Mine Tan. Body. Skin. Hydra Glow Sleep Serum with Triple Action Hyaluronic Acid. This serum is so good! It’s fast absorbing, it’s incredibly lightweight and says it’s anti-inflammatory. Because it’s a triple action Hyaluronic Acid you get the instant hydration but it’s also time release so you get that as you sleep giving you hydrated and glowy skin in the morning.

MineTan Body Skin Hydra Glow Sleep Serum Mine Skincare

After serum comes moisturizer and for that I use the Murad City Skin Overnight Detox Moisturizer. This is more than just your standard moisturizer. It does have nourishing botanicals to moisturize and plump while helping to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, but it also detoxifies the skin by neutralizing daily damage caused by pollutants and blue light. Which I really like because I spend a lot of time on my computer. This is also a slightly thicker consistency, which I like for winter and the colder months.

Murad - City Skin Overnight Detox Moisturizer 1.7 oz

The second to last thing I do is eye cream. I’ve been using two as of late. The first is one that I’ve been using for a while and really like, the Murad Hyrdo-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture for Eyes. This deeply quenches and nourishes the under eye area, seals in moisture to restore smoothness and helps to reduce fine line and wrinkles along with dull and dry skin. The second is the Mudmasky Vitamin Infused Eye Serum. This has Vitamin C which is very refreshing and has an antioxidant effect. This also feeds, nourishes and firms the skin under the eye along with giving a vitamin boost and moisture boost. I like it a lot.

Murad Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture 1.7 oz/ 50 mL

Vitamin-infused Eye Serum

And the last thing I do is apply a lip product. Right now, and for a bit, my go to lip product has been the eos Natural & Organic Lip Balm Stick in Sweet Mint. I find the eos lip balms to be super hydrating and this one smells really good.

Eos Smooth Stick Lip Balm - Sweet Mint

That about wraps it up for this post, if we use any of the same products in our winter skincare routines let me know and if not I’d love to know what products you do use.

Until next time, enjoy doing your skincare routine and I’m glad you’re all liking Blogmas :).

May Favorites

Hi everyone,

As it’s the end of the month I thought it would be the perfect time to do my May favorites. I have a decent mix this month, so let’s get into it.

Starting with Beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my May BoxyCharm box, and I’ll link that post below if you haven’t read it. My first Boxy favorite is the Murad City Skin Overnight Detox Moisturizer. This is a moisturizer that has supercharged antioxidants that neutralize pollutants and blue light, while strengthening your skin’s barrier while you sleep. I spent a lot of time on my computer and I have blue light glasses, so I like that this offers you that same thing for you skin. I’ve only used this a few times since I got it, but I do like it so far.

My last Boxy favorite is the Sophia + Mabelle Hydrating Hybrid in Topless. This is a combo lip balm and lipstick, it has the hydration of a balm with Vitamin E and the full coverage of a satin finish lipstick. This is a light nude/brown and I really like it. It wears pretty well throughout the day as well. This is definitely a product I would recommend if you like a good lipstick.

My last beauty favorite is the Malibu Barbie x ColourPop palette. I did a whole post on this palette and from my initial impressions with swatching to actually using it, I can tell you that it’s a great palette. I’m going to be doing a ‘Three Recent Looks’ with it soon. But for now what I will say is, if you’re a fan of Barbie and good makeup, pick up one of these because it’s a lot of fun to create with.

Moving on I have a food favorite and it’s not just any food, it’s ice cream. To be more specific it’s the Snickers Ice Cream Bars. I always like an ice cream bar and Snickers are one of my favorite candies. These bars are peanut butter ice cream with peanuts and caramel on top and coated in chocolate and they’re just so good.

And my last favorite is a music favorite in the form of the Take That Progress Live album. I’ve been going back and listening to some of my old favorite music recently and really remembering how great this album, and this tour were. It’s full of great songs, some great mashups between Take That and Robbie Williams songs and if you haven’t listened to the album or seen the tour DVD, I definitely recommend doing so.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we had any of the same favorites let me know and if not, I’d love to know what your May favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great May :).

May BoxyCharm Unboxing

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I received my May BoxyCharm box and I thought that today would be the perfect day to go through it. The theme for this month is Flourish, which goes perfectly with ‘April showers bring May flowers.’

The first item we have is the Beekman 1802 Dewy Eyed Illuminating & Depuffing Eye Serum. This has a mix of goat milk and botanical extracts that are supposed to combine for hydrating revitalization to illuminate eyes and help to fight the appearance of dark circles and puffiness. I’m a little put off by the idea of goat milk in an eye serum, and I’ve seen mixed reviews on this, so we’ll see. I also think that it’s a little bit overpriced for the 0.5 fl oz/15 ml that you get. I do like the packaging though, it comes in a little canvas bag and the serum is inside of it and I think that that very down home/farm feel very much fits in with the vibe of the brand.

The next item we have is the Ciate London Shadow Flip in Ember. This is a liquid eyeshadow that has a shade shifting, color flipping pigment and a multi-chrome effect. This one in particular is predominantly orange/pink with a green-ish shift. I really like the Ciate London liquid shadows, the formula is really nice, they dry down nicely and they’re super pigmented. I’m excited to try this out and see how it looks on the eyes.

Moving on we have the Skin Inc My Daily Dose Of Uplift Serum. This is a serum that has encapsulated Collagen, Coenzyme Q10 and Hyaluronic Acid for what they call an anti aging punch to give you firmer, smoother and younger looking skin. This is such a pretty serum, all the Skin Inc serums are that way, I like the bottle and the little encapsulated pearls give it a lava lamp look. I do love a good serum, so I’m excited to try this one.

The second to last item we have is the Murad City Skin Overnight Detox Moisturizer. This was my choice item for the month and it’s a moisturizer with a breakthrough formula that has supercharged antioxidants that neutralize pollutants and blue light, while strengthening your skin’s barrier while you sleep. This has an interesting way of dispensing the product, instead of just twisting off the top, there’s a circle you press on the top that has a hole in the middle and that’s where the product comes out. Murad makes the eye cream that I use, which is one of my favorites, so when I saw it I knew that I wanted to try it.

And the last item we have is the Sophia + Mabelle Hydrating Hybrid in Topless. This is a hybrid lipstick and lip balm in one. It has Vitamin E to keep your lips hydrated like a lip balm, but the full coverage of a satin finish lipstick. I really like the idea of this, and this one is a light nude/brown shade. It felt really creamy and went on smooth in the swatch, so it seems like it will be nice on the lips.

That about wraps it up for this post, I typically like a more makeup heavy box but this was a decent box. If you guys got any of the same items in your May BoxyCharm box let me know and if not, I’d love to know what you did get.

Until next time, enjoy your products and I can’t wait to see what I get in my June box :).

January BoxyCharm Unboxing

Hi everyone,

This morning I got my January box from BoxyCharm and I thought that now would be the perfect time to go through it. The theme this month is perfect for January, as it’s Fresh Start.

IMG_7176

The first product we have is the Dr. Brandt Do Not Age With Dr. Brandt Triple Peptide Eye Cream. This is a super hydrating peptide powered cream that is supposed to recharge tired looking eyes for a more rested look, reduce puffiness and fade dark circles, diminish the look of wrinkles and fine lines and help to restore and replenish moisture. I do like a good eye cream and Dr. Brandt is a great brand, so I’m interested to try this out.

IMG_7178

Next we have the Farmacy Daily Greens Oil-Free Gel Moisturizer with Moringa and Papaya. This is an oil and silicone free moisturizer that is supposed to give you lightweight and lasting hydration without feeling greasy. This has Moringa Water, Papaya and Willow Herb, which are to help clear pores of dirt and impurities and reduce shine. This is paraben free, formaldehyde free, synthetic fragrance free, phthlate free, mineral oil free and cruelty free. This is recommended for combination and oily skin. I really like the packaging on this with the shape and color of the pot.

IMG_7180

Moving on we have the Ciate London Velvet Eyeshadow Palette. This is a relatively new palette and it has a mix of soft shimmers, hyper metallics and velvety smooth mattes. This formula is supposed to be very pigmented and have super soft application. I really like the packaging on this palette, it has a matte pinky/purple top with ‘Ciate London’ written in rose gold and the bottom of the palette is a shiny rose gold.

IMG_7181

You get a good size mirror on this palette, which I always appreciate.

IMG_7182

This is a 12 pan palette and the shadows have a wavy look in the pans. There is some irony here, I didn’t think that I would get this palette in my box so I ordered it from Ciate before I got the box. I already told a friend they could have this particular palette, so when I get the other one I’ll swatch it.

IMG_7183

The second to last palette we have is the Ace Beaute Bronzed In Paradise Palette. This is my Choice item for the month. This palette is brown and the top has a matte flowered design with ‘Ace Beaute Bronzed In Paradise’ in a white square in the middle of the palette written in gold and there is a gold boarder.

IMG_7184

For a face palette, this has a good size mirror and the mirror has a gold boarder around it.

IMG_7185

With this palette you get four bronzers in rectangular pans and they range from light to dark browns.

IMG_7186

They look darker in the pans, but when I swatched them I found that they all seem to be very workable and buildable.

IMG_7188

And the last product we have is the Bali Balm Sweet Orange & Coconut Lip Balm. This has sweet orange and coconut essential oils. The sweet orange has a ton of Vitamin C which evens skin tone and protects against free radicals and the coconut moisturizes so you get soft and supple lips. This smells really good it has a tropical, citrusy and sweet scent and it’s bee friendly. I love a good lip balm, especially during the winter months because the cold can really chap your lips. Bali Balm has a deal going on on their website right now that is in conjunction with BoxyCharm, so if you use the code VALENTINES21 you get 55% off of your order.

IMG_7187

That about wraps it up for this post, if you guys got any of the same products in your January box let me know and if not I’d love to know what you did get.

Until next time, enjoy your products and I can’t wait to see what I get in my February box :).

Blogmas Day Five: Winter Skincare Routine

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Blogmas Day Five! Today I’m going to be talking about my winter skincare routine. In the past year I’ve been on a journey with my skincare routine for all seasons, basically I tried too many new products back to back and my skin hated me for it. So I scaled it way back and now I’ve found a routine that my skin really likes and I’m super happy about it.

So the first thing I do is use the Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes and Lips and take off my eye makeup and whatever is on my lips. This has a really gentle, but effective formula so you don’t have to scrub. I’ve been using this for a while and I really like it, plus it takes off every kiss proof, waterproof, long wearing product you might have on.

IMG_6785

Then I take the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Deep Dive Cleansing Gel and take the rest of my makeup off. This does a fantastic job of taking off all of my makeup while getting rid of any excess oil and not drying out my skin. This has Marine Plants, which reduce the look of wrinkles and fine lines, Allantoin, which softens and protects the skin. Vitamin B5 to moisturize and hydrate, Indian Gooseberry to help brighten the skin and Lavender for toning and soothing skin.

IMG_6786

From there I use the MineTan Body Skin Hydra Glow Sleep Serum with triple action hyaluronic acid. I got this in a BoxyCharm box months ago and I’ve been using it every day since. This absorbs into the skin instantly and because it’s time release, as you sleep it continues to hydrate so you have glowing skin.

IMG_6787

Moving on, the next thing I do is moisturize my entire face using the Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream Hydrating Moisturizer. This is a 30 percent hyaluronic acid complex cream that helps lock in hydration for up to 72 hours. This is good for normal, combination, oily and dry skin and if you have wrinkles/fine lines, dryness or uneven texture then this is the perfect cream for you. This is incredibly lightweight and it sinks in really quickly. I used to only use thicker creams during the winter, but this one is so moisturizing that I don’t feel the need to use a thicker cream.

IMG_6788

The second to last thing I do is apply my eye cream and for that I use the Murad Hyrdo-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture for eyes. This is also a product I received in a BoxyCharm box and have been using every day since. This helps to seal in moisture and restore smoothness, while deeply quenching and nourishing the eye area.

IMG_6789

And the last thing I do is apply a lip product and right now I’m using, and loving, the eos Sweet Mint Lip Balm. This does come in the ball and stick forms, but I like the sticks. This is free of gluten, parabens and phthalates and made from 100% natural ingredients. There are a variety of flavors, but I like the Sweet Mint the best, it’s nicely minty but it’s not over the top. These are incredibly moisturizing and all of them smell really good.

IMG_6790

That about wraps it up for this post, if you use any of the same products in your winter skincare routine let me know and if not I’d love to know what your routine consists of.

Until next time, you can never be too moisturized and I hope you’re enjoying Blogmas :).

October BoxyCharm Unboxing

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I received my October box from BoxyCharm, sooner than I thought, and I thought that today would be the perfect day to go through it. The theme for this month is Candy Shop which is not only perfect because of Halloween, but because this box is full of treats.

BBFD2F26-306C-4FDB-BDF8-BFF3A2A3FB06

So the first item we have is the Grown Alchemist Matte Balancing Moisturiser with Acai Berry and Borago. This is a lightweight moisturizer that hydrates the face whilst balancing your skins oil levels and leaving your skin with a matte finish. I’ve only tried one other product from Grown Alchemist and I did like it, so I’m interested by this.

IMG_6436

Next we have the Spongelle Cherry Tonka Musk Body Wash Infused Buffer. This buffer in particular is a limited edition creation between Spongelle and BoxyCharm. These buffers are really popular and they’re infused with body wash and when you run them under water they get soft so you can cleanse yourself. This has yuzu, edelweiss and vetiver root extracts and has a slight cherryness to it but it overall is a deeper and more musky scent. I did try one of these buffers last winter and I liked it. It was a very berry forward scent, so it’s nice to see something different.

IMG_6441

Moving on we have the Ciate London New England Editor Palette. I can’t even tell you how happy I was to see this in my box, when the spoilers came out this is the thing I wanted the most. This is a pretty palette all around, the outer packaging is light pink with blue palm leaves.

IMG_6442

When you open it you’re greeted with a huge mirror, which I greatly appreciate, and you see the 18 eyeshadow pans.

IMG_6443

This has a great mix of metallics, glitters and mattes. I can tell by looking at this at it’s a very versatile palette because there are some really fun shades, but there’s also some more neutral shades that are perfect for fall.

IMG_6444

I swatched this on my arm in the rows they’re in. The first shadow we have is a matte nude, next to that is a shimmery peach that I already have a look planned for. Then there’s a super pretty medium gold shimmer. Next to that is another peachy shade but it’s slightly darker than the first one. Then there’s a glittery blue that is an interesting tone, I would call it an aegean/denim, I’m interested to see what it looks like on the eye. And the last shadow in this row is a another shimmery blue but this is a navy blue.

IMG_6456

The next row starts with a bright matte coral. Next to that is a shimmery deep emerald green, then there’s a shimmery light coppery/rose gold. Next to that is a glittery burgundy that has a gold shift to it. The second to last shadow is a chocolaty brown with just a bit of shimmer and the last shadow in the row is a matte light chocolate brown.

IMG_6457

The last row starts with a deep shimmery gold that leans towards the copper side, it’s very pretty. Next to that is a very deep blue that is almost a purple/black. Then there’s a gorgeous green that I would say is medium in tone and has some yellow/gold glitters in it. Next to that is a light shimmery purple that has a light brown undertone. The second to last shadow is a matte dark brown, out of all of the shadows this one is the only one that didn’t swatch the best, it was a little patchy at first but I was able to build it up. I will be interested to see how it performs on the eye. And the last shadow in the row is shimmery purply/pink. Based on swatching alone I can tell you that these are really smooth shadows that look and feel like they’ll blend well and they’re all super pigmented.

IMG_6458

The second to last item we have is the RealHer Ultimate Glow Getter Cheek Trio. This was my choice item for the month. Normally with my choice item I go for skincare, but I saw this and because I love a cheek palette, thought I would give it a try. I love the outer packaging, the marbling and rose gold lettering is super cute.

IMG_6445

This is a good size for a cheek palette, it fits nicely in the hand and would be great to throw in your handbag. It also has a good size mirror.

First in this palette is the blush and that’s in the shade Blessed. This is a very pretty peachy pink that has a little bit of shimmer in it. Sometimes shimmery blushes can be too shimmery, but I think this is well balanced. Then there’s the highlighter in the shade Goddess. This is basically everything I love in a highlighter. It’s a beautiful champagne in tone and it’s so pretty when it hits the light. And the last in the trio is a bronzer in the shade Incredible. In the swatch picture I did build up the bronzer, but it is a nice light-medium brown. I did find that it’s a little bit powdery but it blends nicely. Overall I think this is a great little palette and the pan size for a small palette is quite big.

And the last item we have is the Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Kiss Tinted Cupuacu Lip Butter in the shade Sol Mate. This is a lightly tinted lip butter with cupuacu butter, acai and coconut oils that makes your lips moisturized, kissable and smelling of doce de leite.

IMG_6449

I’ve never tried anything from Sol de Janeiro that wasn’t a body cream, so I was immediately interested when I saw this. This scent genuinely reminds me of an old fashioned doughnut, which is a delicious smell, and despite that fact that it looks quite dark in color it’s pretty sheer. And it does build up nicely. Plus the packaging on this is super cute.

Until next time enjoy your products and I can’t wait to see what I get in my November Box :).

April 2020 BoxyCharm Unboxing

Hi everyone,

Today I have something that I’m really excited about, the start of a new series, and that’s monthly BoxyCharm unboxings. I’ve wanted to do BoxyCharm for a while and after the end of Sephora Play, I subscribed. For those who don’t know, BoxyCharm is a $25.00 a month beauty subscription box and in each box you get 5 full size products. There are upgrades you can do and different boxes you can get, but this is the standard box.

IMG_5508

I subscribed at the end of April, so my first box is the April box. When I was going through and setting my preferences, I selected a makeup heavy box with a little bit of skincare, and this box is exactly that.

IMG_5509

The first product we have is the Murad Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture for eyes. This cream has algae extract and hyaluronic acid so it’s supposed to restore smoothness, seal in moisture and help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I’ve tried a few different Murad products before and really liked them but I’ve never tried any of their eye creams, so I’m excited to try this out and I’ll let you know what I think.

IMG_5511

Next we have the Ciate London Eye Lustre Creme Eyshadow in Cupid. This is a lightweight shadow with color shifting pigments that is supposed to be fall out free. This is honestly one of the prettiest shadows I’ve owned. When you look at it in the tube it’s a really pretty purpley/pink, but when it hits the light it shifts to gold. I’m honestly excited to wear this.

IMG_5514

Moving on we have the Alamar Cosmetics Colorete Blush Trio in Medium-Tan. As this is a blush trio, you get 3 blushes. The first blush is Seclusion, which is a peachy/orange, then there’s Isla, which is a coral shade and Toasted, which is a rosey pink. I’m wearing Isla today and it’s quite pretty. These blushes have a good amount of pigmentation without being over the top and they blend out nicely.

The second to last product we have is the Vintage By Jessica Liebeskind Cashmere Lip Pencil in Mocha. This is a nice medium brown and it goes on really smooth. I’m wearing it today all over my lips with and I really like the way it looks and how long it wears. About halfway through today I put a Too Faced gloss on top and I still really like how it’s looking. This is a lip pencil I would recommend.

And the last product we have is the Steve Laurant Lip Gloss in Posh. This is a lightweight, high shine lip gloss with opacity but also gives a great color payoff. When I swatched this it came off as an orangey/brown and my first thought was that it would probably look good with the Vintage Cosmetics lip pencil. I don’t always reach for a gloss when I’m doing my lips, but I’ll give this one a try and see what I think.

That about wraps it up for this post, if you guys got any of the same products in your April BoxyCharm box let me know and if not I’d love to know what you did get.

Until next time, enjoy your products and I can’t wait to see what I get in my May BoxyCharm box :).

Recent Makeup Look-Easter 2020 Edition

Hi everyone,

Today I thought it would be fun to share with you the makeup look that I did for Easter and how I did it. For this look I wanted something fun with pastels and I’m really happy with the way it came out.

So the first thing I did for this look was prime my face using the GlamGlow Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in Nude Glow. This gives a great subtle glow under foundation. Then I went in with my foundation, the Covergirl + Olay Simply Ageless Foundation in 205, Ivory. Next I applied my Maybelline Fit Me concealer in 5, Ivory under my eyes and a few other places I wanted more coverage. And I topped that off with the KVD Vegan Beauty Lock-It translucent setting powder.

IMG_5377

For the rest of my face I started with bronzer and used the Too Faced Extra Toasty, this is a lighter brown and it has a nice amount of pigment and it blends really nicely. I then used the Model Co blush in Peach Bellini, this has a little bit of shimmer and shine and isn’t too pink and I highlighted with the Maybelline Master Chrome highlighter in Molten Rose Gold. This is such a beautiful highlighter, it’s the perfect shade and it has a great pop when the light hits it without it being over the top. This is probably my favorite drugstore highlighter.

IMG_5379

For my eyes I didn’t have a real plan going into it but a few shadows stood out and I went for it. The first thing I did though was prime them with the Too Faced Shadow Insurance 24+ Hour Anti-Crease Eyeshadow Primer. Then I went into the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry palette and put Fresh all over my lid as a base. Next I used Bloom, which is a matte pinky coral, from the Sultry palette and packed that into the crease and blended. From there I went into the big palette from the Too Faced Christmas Cookie House Party and packed That’s My Jam, a berry toned purple, on the outer corner of my eye and a little bit into the crease to meet Bloom. On my lid I used I Love Yule, a really pretty pink with gold sparkles and I lightly dabbed Tinsel Town, an icy and sparkly purple/white, on top to bring all the colors together. Eyeliner wise I used and KVD Vegan Beauty Tattoo Liner in Trooper and topped off the eyes with the Urban Decay Perversion mascara. On my lips I applied a Too Faced Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick in Queen B, a very pretty mauvey purple and set the whole look with the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray.

That about wraps it up for this post, I always love doing posts like this so look out for more in the future and I’d love to know what your Easter makeup look was.

Until next time, have fun creating different looks and you can never have too many sparkly eyeshadows :).

March Favorites

Hi everyone,

As it’s the end of the month I thought it would be the perfect time to do my March favorites. It seems like this month has been 97 years long and there’s been a lot going on, but I hope you’re all doing well. I have a good group of favorites this month, so let’s get into it.

Starting with beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my March Sephora Play Box and I’ll link that below if you haven’t read it. My first Play favorite is the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Intense Black. This is a product I used long ago and loved and now having used it a few times since getting it, I still love it. It glides on really smooth, there is room for error with this liner which you don’t always get and once it dries then it’s not smudging or going anywhere.

IMG_5323

My next Play favorite is the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer with Ceramides. I’ve been using this since I got it and I really like it. It’s a rich cream that sinks in quickly and because it is whipped, feels nice and light on the skin. It makes my skin really soft and it feels very moisturized. Definitely a moisturizer I would recommend if you’re looking for a new one.

IMG_5322

And my last Play favorite is the Versace Bright Crystal perfume. This is a really well balanced scent. It’s fruity and floral with the perfect hint of freshness. A great scent for spring and summer and I have ordered a full size of this perfume. If you haven’t smelled this and you get the chance, I say definitely do.

IMG_5324

My next two favorites come from the winter Walmart Beauty Box, which I’ll link down below, and the first is the Curel Dry Skin Therapy Hydra Skin Moisturizer. I use the Curel Wet Skin Moisturizer and love that so I had high hopes for this and it delivered. It sinks in to the skin quickly, leaves my skin feeling really moisturized but not greasy and has a nice almost citrusy scent.

IMG_5238

My other Walmart Beauty Box favorite is the Color Club Nail Lacquer in 1198, It’s Complicated. This is a really pretty, nicely pigmented magenta shade. The formula is nice, it goes on smooth and for me two coats was perfect. It also held up pretty well and lasted on my nails once it was on. This is a brand I hadn’t purchased from before but now I’m definitely going to see what other polishes they have.

IMG_5242

IMG_5243

IMG_5254

And my last beauty favorite is the e.l.f. Bite Size Shadow palette in Rose Water. This is a mix of pinks and purples. The shimmers are really nicely pigmented and creamy and the mattes are very smooth. I’ve talked about a few of these and I definitely recommend them, they’re great little palettes.

IMG_5201

IMG_5212 (1)

Moving on I have a drink favorite and it’s the Pure Leaf Raspberry Tea. Pure Leaf is always my go to if I want a good tea in a bottle and I typically stick with the same one or two, but I love raspberry tea so I decided to try it and I’m glad I did. I also saw that Pure Leaf has some new and different teas and I picked up a Peach Hibiscus to try, and I’m excited about that. It’s the perfect spring/summer tea flavor.

I want to quickly mention something that isn’t exactly a favorite because I just started watching last night, but I’m 3 episodes in to Tiger King on Netflix and holy wow. It’s already not what I expected. No spoilers, but I want to know if you guys are watching/have watched and what do you think?

And my last favorite is a music favorite and it’s AC/DC’s album Rock Or Bust. Something I’ve been doing recently is a deep dive into some of my favorite bands/musicians and listening to music of theirs that I haven’t heard or have forgotten about. It’s been a lot of fun. The songs on this album are pretty short, but in this case it works. Like most AC/DC songs the chorus’ are catchy and when you hear a riff you know it’s them you’re listening to. Overall great album. Speaking of musicians I like, I want to wish Slowhand himself, Eric Clapton a happy 75th birthday. I’m listening to music as I write this.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we had any of the same favorites let me know and if not I’d love to know what your March favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you all had a good March :).
