Three Recent Looks, Malibu Barbie x ColourPop Palette

Hi everyone,

Today I have one of my favorite types of posts, a Three Recent Looks, this time with the Malibu Barbie x ColourPop palette. This is one of those palettes that gives me all the nostalgia because I loved Barbie as a kid and as an adult it’s nice to see a quality brand making a Barbie collection and giving us the makeup we always wanted as kids.

The first look I did was one I knew I had to do as soon as I saw the shadows, bright pink and sparkly. So the first thing I did was prime my face using the GlamGlow GlowStarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in Nude Glow. I then applied my Covergirl + Olay Simply Ageless Foundation in 205, Ivory, my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 5, Ivory and set it with my Ofra Pressed Banana Powder.

For the rest of my face I first bronzed using the Nars Laguna Bronzer, then I applied my Too Faced Makeup & Be Merry Blush and Maybelline Master Chrome Highlighter in Molten Rose Gold

For my eyes the first thing I did was prime them using the Pretty Vulgar Uncaged Eyeshadow Primer. Then I went into the palette and first took Board Walk and put that in the crease. Then I took Best Coast and packed that on the outer corner of my eye and into the crease a little bit. For the rest of my lid I applied Follow The Sun. I then took Best Coast and brought it under my eye about halfway, then took Follow The Sun and put that about 90% of the way. For the inner corner of my eye I used Vintage Doll. I lined my eyes using the KVD Tattoo Liner in Trooper and topped it off with the Too Faced Damn Girl Mascara. For my lips I wanted a pink lip so I took the Sephora Collection Lip Liner To Go in 09, Fuchsia and lightly used it all over then topped it with the Sephora Collection #LIPSTORIES Lipstick in 69, Werk It. I set the whole look with the Maven Beauty Rose Water Setting Spray

For the second look I wanted to do something more beachy for Malibu Barbie, so I did turquoise and sparkles. The first thing I did was prime my face using the Too Faced Primed and Poreless Primer. Then I applied my Covergirl and Olay Simply Ageless Foundation in 205, Ivory, Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 5, Ivory and set it with the Too Faced Peach Perfect Mattifying Setting Powder in Translucent Peach Whisper

For the rest of my face I first bronzed with the Nars Laguna Bronzer, then I applied the Blush and Highlighter from the e.l.f. Bite Size Face Duo in Lychee

For my eyes the first thing I did was prime using the Elizabeth Mott Thank Me Later Eyeshadow Primer. Then I went into the palette, taking Malibu Memories and putting it lightly in the crease, then packing it on the outer corner of my eye. I then took Surf’s Up and put it all over the rest of my lid. I then took Malibu Memories and brought it under my eye about halfway, putting Surf’s Up on the other half and into the inner corner. For a little extra color I took the ColourPop Creme Gel Liner in Big Splash and put it in my waterline. I lined my eyes with the KVD Tattoo Liner in Trooper and topped it off with the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. For my lips I first lined them using the Model Co Lip Enhancer Nude Lip Liner Pencil and filled them in using the Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick in Crush. I set the whole look with the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

For the third look I did something that if you guys have been reading these Three Recent Looks posts, you know I like, and that is a champagne and peach look. I do generally like this color combo and if these shades happen to appear in a palette, then I like to test them out and see how they look together. For my face the first thing I did was prime using the GlamGlow GlowStarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in Nude Glow. I then applied my Covergirl + Olay Simply Ageless Foundation in 205, Ivory, Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 5, Ivory and set everything with the Ofra Pressed Banana Powder.

For the rest of my face I first bronzed with the Too Faced Extra Toasty Bronzer, then I applied the Too Faced Daydreamer Blush and the highlighter from the e.l.f. Bite Size Face Duo in Lychee.

For my eyes the first thing I did was prime them using the Pretty Vulgar Uncaged Eyeshadow Primer. Then I went into the palette and first took Make Waves and put that in the crease. Then I took Let’s Go Party and packed that on the outer corner of my eye. For the rest of my lid I applied Cali Girl. I then took Let’s Go Party and brought that under my eye about halfway and used Cali Girl for the other half and into the inner corner. For a little extra color I took the ColourPop Creme Gel Liner in Peach Fuzz in the waterline. I lined my eyes with the KVD Tattoo Liner in Trooper and topped it off with the Tarte Maneater Mascara. For my lips I first line them with the Model Co Lip Enhancer Nude Lip Liner Pencil and filled that in with the Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick in Crush. I set everything with the Maven Beauty Rose Water Setting Spray.

That about wraps it up for this post, I always really like doing these posts so look out for more in the future. I really like this palette, I think it a lot of fun and versatile. I would definitely recommend it if you’re a Barbie fan or are looking for a fun summer palette.

Until next time, have fun creating different looks and you can never have too many eyeshadow palettes :).

Malibu Barbie x ColourPop Eyeshadow Palette Review

Hi everyone,

Today I have a really fun post. This one is all about a review of the brand new Malibu Barbie x ColourPop palette. When I saw the pictures for this collection I was excited about it. Barbie was a huge part of my childhood and when you’re a kid you think about how cool it would be to have Barbie makeup and generally the closest you get to that is if a doll comes with some sort of lipstick/hair thing. But now, as adults, there are more and more cosmetics brands doing collaborations with Barbie, so we get to experience what we wanted as kids and it’s exciting.

Every part of this palette fits the Malibu Barbie vibe. The palette itself is a medium pink with the sun, sea, beach and a palm tree with ‘Barbie x ColourPop’ written at the top and ‘Malibu Barbie’ in the middle.

You get a nice mirror with this palette. It had a pink boarder with the sun in the top right corner, and some clouds in the top right and left corners and ‘Barbie x ColourPop’ written in the middle.

This is a 15 pan palette with a mix of matte and metallics and a really fun range of colors. There are a lot of fun and bright colors, but this seems like a very versatile palette.

The first row starts with Cali Girl, a really pretty metallic soft champagne. Next to that is Vintage Doll, which is a baby pink metallic with a hot pink shift. Then there’s Come On, a metallic bronzey/gold. Next to that is Let’s Go Party, which is a matte peachy coral but this one has a rainbow shaped stamped into it. And the last shadow in the row is Shine On, a metallic rose gold with more cool undertones.

The second row starts with West Coast, a really bright matte yellow that is a deeper yellow and I would say it’s very close to canary. Next to that is Best Coast, which is a really bright matte pink with a heart stamped into it. Then there’s Follow The Sun, a really pretty metallic hot pink. Next to that is Malibu Memories, a matte turquoise that I love. It can hard to formulate shades like this, but this one is really pigmented and swatched nice and smooth. The last shadow in the row is Zuma Beach, a nice medium toned warm brown.

The third row starts with Make Waves, a matte peachy shade with yellow undertones and a palm tree stamped into it. Next to that is Board Walk, which is a really warm coral/peach. Then there’s Surf’s Up, a metallic turquoise that I can’t wait to wear, it’s so pretty. Next to that is 1971, a metallic light copper that has pink undertones, it’s an interesting shadow but I like it. And the last shadow in the row is So-Cal, a matte really bright orange with a heart stamped into it.

That about wraps it up for this post, overall I think this is a great palette and I can’t wait to play with it. Everything seems really pigmented, the formulas are nice like always and you appear to get great color payoff from every shadow. This is definitely going to be one of those palettes that a ton of fun looks come out of. If any of you have purchased this palette or anything from the collection I’d love to know what.

Until next time, have fun creating different looks and you can never have too many eyeshadow palettes :).
