Sephora Favorites Holiday Lip Kit Review

Hi everyone,

Since we’re in that weird time between Christmas and New Years and no one has any idea what day it is, I thought that this would be the perfect time for a new post. I have a fun one today, and we’re going to be going through the Sephora Favorites Holiday Lip Kit. Every year Sephora brings out a new version of this kit, and I think it’s great. I don’t always love them, but this one went on my wishlist as soon as it came out.

This kit has seven lip products that include lipstick, lip shine, glossy lip balm and lip plumper. Two of the seven are full size.

The first product we’re going to start with is the Rare Beauty Stay Vulnerable Glossy Lip Balm in Nearly Neutral. This is one is full size. This is what I would call medium brown, almost chocolate, in color. When I swatched it it didn’t seem to be overly sticky and even though it’s a glossy lip balm, it doesn’t seem to be too sheer. You definitely get some decent color payoff. I also really like the packaging on this. Most tubes of lip gloss are just that, round tubes that roll everywhere, but this one is flat on the back and I really like little details like that.

Next up we have the second full size product, the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk. You guys already know, this lipstick is iconic. The hold that it has on the beauty world is absolutely justified, it’s an incredible lipstick. Goes on smooth, lasts all day and the color is perfect. Plus, the packaging is just beautiful. Pillow Talk will forever be part of my makeup collection.

Moving on we have the Nars Afterglow Lip Shine in Orgasm. This is a high shine, hydrating lip gloss that claims it lasts for up to eight hours (which I can confirm, because I’ve already worn it). This is in the shade Orgasm, which is the iconic Nars shade name and color and in this application it’s a very pretty peachy pink with gold shimmer. I really like this, definitely recommend if you’re looking for a really good lip gloss for your collection.

The fourth product we have is the Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme Lip Plumper in Clear. This is also an iconic lip product, this plumper is the go to for a lot of people, including myself, and has been for ages. This has a high shine finish and is actually pretty hydrating.

Next up we have the Urban Decay Vice Hydrating Lipstick in Backtalk. This is a hydrating, long wearing lipstick in a very pretty mauve/nude pink shade. I’m wearing this today and I’m really liking it. It went on super smooth and it’s very pigmented. I definitely recommend if you haven’t given this lipstick a try. It’s also on sale right now at Sephora and they still have a few good shades left, including this one.

The second to last lipstick we have is the GVXE Anaheim Shine High Performance Satin Lipstick in Original Recipe. For anyone that doesn’t know, GVXE is Gwen Stefani’s makeup line. It made a lot of sense to me why this was in this kit when I saw the color because it’s a true red, and beauty wise, one of the things she’s known for is wearing a red lip. And I can honestly say, based on the swatch, that this is a really good red lipstick. It is high shine, which isn’t typically where I lean for a red, but the color is so nice that it’s piqued my interest and I’m excited to wear it.

And the last lip product we have is the Pat McGrath Labs MatteTrance Lipstick in Vendetta. This lipstick calls itself lightweight and richly pigmented with a modern matte finish. I haven’t worn this yet so I can’t comment on the weight of it, but just from the one swipe swatch I did, I can tell you it’s incredibly pigmented. It’s dark red in color and so pretty. It’s that kind of dark red that is starting to lean into berry but still maintains being red and I’m excited to try it out.

That about wraps it up for this post, I’m excited to wear all of these and I’ll let you guys know what I think when I do!

Until next time, I hope you’ve having a great holiday and I’ll see you in January :).

Blogmas Day Three: Winter Skincare Routine

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Blogmas Day Three! Today I thought it would be fun to share my winter skincare routine with you guys. I used to do a skincare routine post every season because I was changing and trying new products all the time, but my skin got very mad at me for doing that. I had to strip it back to very few things and once that started working I added a few things here and there and that’s where I’m at with it right now.

So the first thing I do is take off my eye makeup and lipstick and to do that I used the Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes and Lips. This is a product I’ve been using for ages and I really like it. It has a gentle formula but it’s super effective so you’re not scrubbing and accidently ripping out your lashes.

CLINIQUE - Take The Day Off Makeup Remover For Lids, Lashes & Lips 4.2 oz/ 125 mL

The next thing I do is take off the rest of my makeup with the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Deep Dive Cleansing Gel. I’ve also been using this for a really long time and I still like it a lot. It takes off all of the long wearing makeup and doesn’t leave anything behind.

tarte - SEA Deep Dive Cleansing Gel 5 oz/ 150 mL Clean at Sephora

From there I move to the Volition Hibiscus Unspottable Correcting Oil. This is to help reduce the appearance of dark spots and discoloration along with hydrating and helping with moisture retention. I have a couple of dark spots and I can honestly say that this has helped tremendously with getting them to go away. I’m a little weary sometimes of correcting oils and such because I have used some that have done nothing, but this is not one of those. This is one I highly recommend.

Volition Beauty - Hibiscus Unspottable Correcting Oil 1.1 oz/ 35 mL Clean at Sephora

The next step in my routine is serum and for that I use the Mine Tan. Body. Skin. Hydra Glow Sleep Serum with Triple Action Hyaluronic Acid. This serum is so good! It’s fast absorbing, it’s incredibly lightweight and says it’s anti-inflammatory. Because it’s a triple action Hyaluronic Acid you get the instant hydration but it’s also time release so you get that as you sleep giving you hydrated and glowy skin in the morning.

MineTan Body Skin Hydra Glow Sleep Serum Mine Skincare

After serum comes moisturizer and for that I use the Murad City Skin Overnight Detox Moisturizer. This is more than just your standard moisturizer. It does have nourishing botanicals to moisturize and plump while helping to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, but it also detoxifies the skin by neutralizing daily damage caused by pollutants and blue light. Which I really like because I spend a lot of time on my computer. This is also a slightly thicker consistency, which I like for winter and the colder months.

Murad - City Skin Overnight Detox Moisturizer 1.7 oz

The second to last thing I do is eye cream. I’ve been using two as of late. The first is one that I’ve been using for a while and really like, the Murad Hyrdo-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture for Eyes. This deeply quenches and nourishes the under eye area, seals in moisture to restore smoothness and helps to reduce fine line and wrinkles along with dull and dry skin. The second is the Mudmasky Vitamin Infused Eye Serum. This has Vitamin C which is very refreshing and has an antioxidant effect. This also feeds, nourishes and firms the skin under the eye along with giving a vitamin boost and moisture boost. I like it a lot.

Murad Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture 1.7 oz/ 50 mL

Vitamin-infused Eye Serum

And the last thing I do is apply a lip product. Right now, and for a bit, my go to lip product has been the eos Natural & Organic Lip Balm Stick in Sweet Mint. I find the eos lip balms to be super hydrating and this one smells really good.

Eos Smooth Stick Lip Balm - Sweet Mint

That about wraps it up for this post, if we use any of the same products in our winter skincare routines let me know and if not I’d love to know what products you do use.

Until next time, enjoy doing your skincare routine and I’m glad you’re all liking Blogmas :).

May Favorites

Hi everyone,

As it’s the end of the month I thought it would be the perfect time to do my May favorites. I have a decent mix this month, so let’s get into it.

Starting with Beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my May BoxyCharm box, and I’ll link that post below if you haven’t read it. My first Boxy favorite is the Murad City Skin Overnight Detox Moisturizer. This is a moisturizer that has supercharged antioxidants that neutralize pollutants and blue light, while strengthening your skin’s barrier while you sleep. I spent a lot of time on my computer and I have blue light glasses, so I like that this offers you that same thing for you skin. I’ve only used this a few times since I got it, but I do like it so far.

My last Boxy favorite is the Sophia + Mabelle Hydrating Hybrid in Topless. This is a combo lip balm and lipstick, it has the hydration of a balm with Vitamin E and the full coverage of a satin finish lipstick. This is a light nude/brown and I really like it. It wears pretty well throughout the day as well. This is definitely a product I would recommend if you like a good lipstick.

My last beauty favorite is the Malibu Barbie x ColourPop palette. I did a whole post on this palette and from my initial impressions with swatching to actually using it, I can tell you that it’s a great palette. I’m going to be doing a ‘Three Recent Looks’ with it soon. But for now what I will say is, if you’re a fan of Barbie and good makeup, pick up one of these because it’s a lot of fun to create with.

Moving on I have a food favorite and it’s not just any food, it’s ice cream. To be more specific it’s the Snickers Ice Cream Bars. I always like an ice cream bar and Snickers are one of my favorite candies. These bars are peanut butter ice cream with peanuts and caramel on top and coated in chocolate and they’re just so good.

And my last favorite is a music favorite in the form of the Take That Progress Live album. I’ve been going back and listening to some of my old favorite music recently and really remembering how great this album, and this tour were. It’s full of great songs, some great mashups between Take That and Robbie Williams songs and if you haven’t listened to the album or seen the tour DVD, I definitely recommend doing so.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we had any of the same favorites let me know and if not, I’d love to know what your May favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great May :).

May BoxyCharm Unboxing

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I received my May BoxyCharm box and I thought that today would be the perfect day to go through it. The theme for this month is Flourish, which goes perfectly with ‘April showers bring May flowers.’

The first item we have is the Beekman 1802 Dewy Eyed Illuminating & Depuffing Eye Serum. This has a mix of goat milk and botanical extracts that are supposed to combine for hydrating revitalization to illuminate eyes and help to fight the appearance of dark circles and puffiness. I’m a little put off by the idea of goat milk in an eye serum, and I’ve seen mixed reviews on this, so we’ll see. I also think that it’s a little bit overpriced for the 0.5 fl oz/15 ml that you get. I do like the packaging though, it comes in a little canvas bag and the serum is inside of it and I think that that very down home/farm feel very much fits in with the vibe of the brand.

The next item we have is the Ciate London Shadow Flip in Ember. This is a liquid eyeshadow that has a shade shifting, color flipping pigment and a multi-chrome effect. This one in particular is predominantly orange/pink with a green-ish shift. I really like the Ciate London liquid shadows, the formula is really nice, they dry down nicely and they’re super pigmented. I’m excited to try this out and see how it looks on the eyes.

Moving on we have the Skin Inc My Daily Dose Of Uplift Serum. This is a serum that has encapsulated Collagen, Coenzyme Q10 and Hyaluronic Acid for what they call an anti aging punch to give you firmer, smoother and younger looking skin. This is such a pretty serum, all the Skin Inc serums are that way, I like the bottle and the little encapsulated pearls give it a lava lamp look. I do love a good serum, so I’m excited to try this one.

The second to last item we have is the Murad City Skin Overnight Detox Moisturizer. This was my choice item for the month and it’s a moisturizer with a breakthrough formula that has supercharged antioxidants that neutralize pollutants and blue light, while strengthening your skin’s barrier while you sleep. This has an interesting way of dispensing the product, instead of just twisting off the top, there’s a circle you press on the top that has a hole in the middle and that’s where the product comes out. Murad makes the eye cream that I use, which is one of my favorites, so when I saw it I knew that I wanted to try it.

And the last item we have is the Sophia + Mabelle Hydrating Hybrid in Topless. This is a hybrid lipstick and lip balm in one. It has Vitamin E to keep your lips hydrated like a lip balm, but the full coverage of a satin finish lipstick. I really like the idea of this, and this one is a light nude/brown shade. It felt really creamy and went on smooth in the swatch, so it seems like it will be nice on the lips.

That about wraps it up for this post, I typically like a more makeup heavy box but this was a decent box. If you guys got any of the same items in your May BoxyCharm box let me know and if not, I’d love to know what you did get.

Until next time, enjoy your products and I can’t wait to see what I get in my June box :).

January Favorites

Hi everyone,

As it’s the end of the month I thought it would be the perfect time to do my January favorites. This month was busy, but I still managed to get a good group of favorites together.

Starting with beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my January BoxyCharm box and I’ll link that post down below if you haven’t read it yet. My first Boxy favorite is the Ace Beaute Bronzed In Paradise Palette. This has four bronzers in rectangular pans and they range from light to dark browns. They’re very buildable and blendable and if you’re looking for a face palette, I definitely recommend giving this one a try.

IMG_7184

IMG_7185

IMG_7186

IMG_7188

My last Boxy favorite is the Bali Balm Sweet Orange & Coconut Lip Balm. This smells so good. It has sweet orange and coconut essential oils, Vitamin C which evens skin tone and the coconut moisturizes and makes your lips really soft and supple. This is great for the winter months because the cold really can chap your lips, but this would be great year round.

IMG_7187

My second to last beauty favorite is the KVD Go Big Or Go Home Volumizing Mascara in Trooper. This is a long wearing, smudge resistant mascara that really does live up to it’s name and gives pretty extreme volume. This has a pretty decent wand and it does coat all of your lashes. I like this mascara a lot more than I thought, and I definitely recommend it.

IMG_7045

My last beauty favorite is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Pro Pigment Collection Vault. I love these palettes, they each have nine shadows and there’s so much versatility within them. I’m going to do a recent looks post about each palette, but I’m having a lot of fun with them and I 100% recommend them.

IMG_7077

Moving on, I have a couple of fashion favorites. The first is my blue light glasses. I’ve been wanting a pair of blue light glasses for a while and now that I have them I’m so happy. Not only are they super cute, but I have definitely been able to tell a difference since I’ve been wearing them. These are from Zenni Optical and if you’re looking for a pair of blue light or glasses in general, I would check out Zenni because they have super reasonable prices.

IMG_7034

My next fashion favorite is some new Indianapolis Motor Speedway gear. I wanted something new for the upcoming IndyCar season and I didn’t have anything to rep IMS, so I got a hoodie that is a light/medium blue and says ‘Indianapolis Motor Speedway’ in white and red glitter with the logo under it.

IMG_7210

The second thing I got is a v neck t shirt that says ‘W. 16th St’ in white with the logo on the end and it’s shaped like a street sign.

IMG_7228

My next favorite is my birthday. This year was definitely different than other birthdays I’ve had and even what I was wanting to do, but my family and friends made a great birthday weekend for me and it was a lot of fun.

My second to last favorite is my new gaming chair. I’ve wanted and needed a new chair for a while so I asked around and Tony Kanaan recommended Maingear, so I looked around their website and found one that I wanted. The chair that I went with is the Forma R in white. This is a pricier chair, but the quality you get is definitely worth it. It’s pretty much broken in now and is super comfortable. It comes with a pillow, which is incredibly soft, and I use it when I’m gaming at night and talking to friends.

IMG_7161

IMG_7160

My last favorite is a music favorite and it’s my 2020 Spotify Wrapped playlist. This was my December music favorite, but I’m still loving it because it has a great mix of music.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we had any of the same favorites let me know and if not I’d love to know what your January favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great January :).

January BoxyCharm Unboxing

Hi everyone,

This morning I got my January box from BoxyCharm and I thought that now would be the perfect time to go through it. The theme this month is perfect for January, as it’s Fresh Start.

IMG_7176

The first product we have is the Dr. Brandt Do Not Age With Dr. Brandt Triple Peptide Eye Cream. This is a super hydrating peptide powered cream that is supposed to recharge tired looking eyes for a more rested look, reduce puffiness and fade dark circles, diminish the look of wrinkles and fine lines and help to restore and replenish moisture. I do like a good eye cream and Dr. Brandt is a great brand, so I’m interested to try this out.

IMG_7178

Next we have the Farmacy Daily Greens Oil-Free Gel Moisturizer with Moringa and Papaya. This is an oil and silicone free moisturizer that is supposed to give you lightweight and lasting hydration without feeling greasy. This has Moringa Water, Papaya and Willow Herb, which are to help clear pores of dirt and impurities and reduce shine. This is paraben free, formaldehyde free, synthetic fragrance free, phthlate free, mineral oil free and cruelty free. This is recommended for combination and oily skin. I really like the packaging on this with the shape and color of the pot.

IMG_7180

Moving on we have the Ciate London Velvet Eyeshadow Palette. This is a relatively new palette and it has a mix of soft shimmers, hyper metallics and velvety smooth mattes. This formula is supposed to be very pigmented and have super soft application. I really like the packaging on this palette, it has a matte pinky/purple top with ‘Ciate London’ written in rose gold and the bottom of the palette is a shiny rose gold.

IMG_7181

You get a good size mirror on this palette, which I always appreciate.

IMG_7182

This is a 12 pan palette and the shadows have a wavy look in the pans. There is some irony here, I didn’t think that I would get this palette in my box so I ordered it from Ciate before I got the box. I already told a friend they could have this particular palette, so when I get the other one I’ll swatch it.

IMG_7183

The second to last palette we have is the Ace Beaute Bronzed In Paradise Palette. This is my Choice item for the month. This palette is brown and the top has a matte flowered design with ‘Ace Beaute Bronzed In Paradise’ in a white square in the middle of the palette written in gold and there is a gold boarder.

IMG_7184

For a face palette, this has a good size mirror and the mirror has a gold boarder around it.

IMG_7185

With this palette you get four bronzers in rectangular pans and they range from light to dark browns.

IMG_7186

They look darker in the pans, but when I swatched them I found that they all seem to be very workable and buildable.

IMG_7188

And the last product we have is the Bali Balm Sweet Orange & Coconut Lip Balm. This has sweet orange and coconut essential oils. The sweet orange has a ton of Vitamin C which evens skin tone and protects against free radicals and the coconut moisturizes so you get soft and supple lips. This smells really good it has a tropical, citrusy and sweet scent and it’s bee friendly. I love a good lip balm, especially during the winter months because the cold can really chap your lips. Bali Balm has a deal going on on their website right now that is in conjunction with BoxyCharm, so if you use the code VALENTINES21 you get 55% off of your order.

IMG_7187

That about wraps it up for this post, if you guys got any of the same products in your January box let me know and if not I’d love to know what you did get.

Until next time, enjoy your products and I can’t wait to see what I get in my February box :).

Sephora Birthday Gift 2021

Hi everyone,

Happy Friday! My birthday is coming up, it’s in a week and a half, and to celebrate I bought myself a little gift from Sephora, which will be getting it’s own post, but along with that I got to choose one of the 2021 Sephora Birthday Gifts.

There are a few to choose from, so what I’m going to do is show you what I picked then tell you about the rest of them. So I typically pick a makeup item, unless there’s another option that I really want, but this year the makeup item was something that I immediately wanted when I saw it, and that’s a Nars Laguna set.

IMG_7064

On the top of all Sephora Birthday Gifts it says ‘Happy Birthday!’ and ‘Joyeux Anniversaire!’

IMG_7065

In this set you get a mini Laguna Bronzer and a mini Afterglow Lip Balm in Laguna. I really like the packaging on this lip balm, it’s a nice shiny bronze with Nars written in white.

IMG_7066

The Afterglow Lip Balm is a moisturizing lip balm infused with a blend of antioxidents to protect and condition your lips. Color wise this is a shimmery bronze with gold. I did layer this up for the picture, but if you wanted just a light wash of color then one of two swipes of this would do the trick.

IMG_7067

IMG_7070

The Laguna Bronzer is something I was really excited to see because Nars bronzers are some of my favorites. This is a nice light/medium brown with gold shimmer in it. I also really like this packaging, it’s matte black with Nars written in shiny bronze. You also get a little mirror with this, which is great because this is the perfect size to throw in your handbag.

IMG_7068

IMG_7069

IMG_7071

The other birthday gift options are a Laneige Set that comes with a mini Lip Sleeping Mask, a mini Water Sleeping Mask and a mini Water Bank Moisture Cream. There’s a Moroccanoil Set that comes with a mini Hydrating Styling Cream, a mini Moroccanoil Treatment and a mini Night Body Serum. Something new that Sephora is doing this year is a revolving gift. This gift is available for all levels, Insider, Rouge and VIB, and each month it will be something different, but for this month the gift is a Kerastase Set that includes a mini Nutritive Shampoo and Conditioner.

That about wraps it up for this post, I’m super happy with my choice of gift and I would love to know which gift you would choose.

Until next time, enjoy the Sephora Birthday Gifts and you can never have too many bronzers :).

Blogmas Day Five: Winter Skincare Routine

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Blogmas Day Five! Today I’m going to be talking about my winter skincare routine. In the past year I’ve been on a journey with my skincare routine for all seasons, basically I tried too many new products back to back and my skin hated me for it. So I scaled it way back and now I’ve found a routine that my skin really likes and I’m super happy about it.

So the first thing I do is use the Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes and Lips and take off my eye makeup and whatever is on my lips. This has a really gentle, but effective formula so you don’t have to scrub. I’ve been using this for a while and I really like it, plus it takes off every kiss proof, waterproof, long wearing product you might have on.

IMG_6785

Then I take the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Deep Dive Cleansing Gel and take the rest of my makeup off. This does a fantastic job of taking off all of my makeup while getting rid of any excess oil and not drying out my skin. This has Marine Plants, which reduce the look of wrinkles and fine lines, Allantoin, which softens and protects the skin. Vitamin B5 to moisturize and hydrate, Indian Gooseberry to help brighten the skin and Lavender for toning and soothing skin.

IMG_6786

From there I use the MineTan Body Skin Hydra Glow Sleep Serum with triple action hyaluronic acid. I got this in a BoxyCharm box months ago and I’ve been using it every day since. This absorbs into the skin instantly and because it’s time release, as you sleep it continues to hydrate so you have glowing skin.

IMG_6787

Moving on, the next thing I do is moisturize my entire face using the Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream Hydrating Moisturizer. This is a 30 percent hyaluronic acid complex cream that helps lock in hydration for up to 72 hours. This is good for normal, combination, oily and dry skin and if you have wrinkles/fine lines, dryness or uneven texture then this is the perfect cream for you. This is incredibly lightweight and it sinks in really quickly. I used to only use thicker creams during the winter, but this one is so moisturizing that I don’t feel the need to use a thicker cream.

IMG_6788

The second to last thing I do is apply my eye cream and for that I use the Murad Hyrdo-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture for eyes. This is also a product I received in a BoxyCharm box and have been using every day since. This helps to seal in moisture and restore smoothness, while deeply quenching and nourishing the eye area.

IMG_6789

And the last thing I do is apply a lip product and right now I’m using, and loving, the eos Sweet Mint Lip Balm. This does come in the ball and stick forms, but I like the sticks. This is free of gluten, parabens and phthalates and made from 100% natural ingredients. There are a variety of flavors, but I like the Sweet Mint the best, it’s nicely minty but it’s not over the top. These are incredibly moisturizing and all of them smell really good.

IMG_6790

That about wraps it up for this post, if you use any of the same products in your winter skincare routine let me know and if not I’d love to know what your routine consists of.

Until next time, you can never be too moisturized and I hope you’re enjoying Blogmas :).
