Blogmas Day Eleven: BoxyCharm, A Year In Review

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Blogmas Day Eleven! Today I’m going to be doing a BoxyCharm Year In Review. I got a lot of great boxes this year and had a ton of favorite products, so I thought it would be good to put them all together and share what I really loved.

January:

The January box was a strong start to the year, and my favorite from this box was the Ace Beaute Bronzed In Paradise Palette. It didn’t feature in any of my recent looks posts, but I do like it and I do use it, it tends to fall to the back of my bronzer drawer, so I need to make a spot for it towards the front.

February:

Ace Beaute made a really great impression in BoxyCharm this year, at least for me, and one of the things I loved in February was the Ace Beaute Nostalgia Palette. I use this all the time, I think it’s a super fun and versatile palette, in fact I talked about it in yesterday’s post. The other thing I loved in February was the Wander Beauty Double Date Lip & Cheek in Rendezvous/Swipe. I use Rendezvous solely as a lip product and I like it a lot. It’s a very pretty shade of pink.

March:

The March box had three items in it that I either loved already or have become staples in my makeup collection. The first of which is the Lime Crime Venus III Palette. This palette is super cute, it has some super pretty shadows in it and I love the versatility it affords. Then there’s the Too Faced Damn Girl Mascara which I’ve loved pretty much since it came out, it’s so good and always does my lashes good. The last product is one that I was initially unsure of because I don’t love rose in beauty and skincare products, but it’s turned into one of my favorites and it’s the Maven Beauty Rose Water Setting Spray. This locks in your makeup and you don’t feel sticky. Because of the rose water, it’s actually kinda refreshing.

April:

In April I received the Flirtacious Looks Monarch Lash Pack and these lashes are SO good! It came with two pairs, Baby Girl, an angled lash and Charmer, a round lash. The second thing I loved from the April box is the Eloise Beauty Get Gleaming Body Glow Illuminator in Champagne Rich. I used this a lot during the summer and it gives a great glow but is also buildable so you can have your desired level of glow.

May:

The May box saw me receiving two things that I have since repurchased and have talked about so many times since. The first is the Sophia + Mabelle Hydrating Hybrid Lipstick in Topless. This is a nude lipstick with the hydration of a balm and it’s so, so good. I honestly recommend, especially if you’re a nude lipstick fan. The second is the Murad City Skin Overnight Detox Moisturizer. I mentioned this in my Winter Skincare post and it’s an excellent moisturizer because it not only moisturizes, but it protects against blue light which is perfect for me because I do spend a bit of time on my computer. My skin definitely likes Murad.

June:

The June box had two things that very much screamed summer to me, a bright lipstick and glowy skin. The bright lipstick came in the form of the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Famous Red, which has become a go to of mine in my red lipstick collection. The glowy skin came from the Touch In Sol Pretty Filter Glowdient Palette, I talk about this all the time, you guys know how much I love it.

July:

In July I got a great mix of great makeup and skincare. The Ofra Mini Mix Palette in Good To Go is something I already loved, so when I saw it was a choice item for July I picked it and it turned out to be a great choice because I just hit pan on the bronzer and because these are magnetic pans, I can just swap out the new and old ones. The BellaPierre Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner in Black has become something I reach for a lot in my eyeliner drawer and I like it a lot, you have a lot of flexibility so you can do the thin precise line or you can do a thick and dramatic wing. On the skincare side, this is when I got the Mudmasky Vitamin Infused Eye Serum, I also talked about this in my Winter Skincare post and I love it, I can see a difference since I started using it.

August:

The August box featured what as become a go to eyeshadow palette for me, the Dito Cosmetics Venus Palette. I used this palette a lot during college football season and when I did my gold eye look for yesterday’s post, this is what I used to do it. I’m also a space nerd, so that made this palette extra fun for me. My second August favorite is the Volition Hibiscus Unspottable Correcting Oil. I have a couple of dark spots on my face, and this has helped tremendously, it’s a great product. Definitely recommend it you’re looking to get rid of any dark spots.

September:

I’m gonna be honest, this was not my favorite box of the year. I did and do like the GlamGlow YouthMud Glow Stimulating Treatment. This is the OG GlamGlow product that made it what it is today and when you use it you can see why. Obviously the more you use it, the more results you see, but when in the 10 or so minutes you have it on, you can tell a difference. The exfoliating properties give you smooth, glowy and soft skin. The other thing I liked in this box is the Half Caked 813, Duo Fiber Brush. I use this for blush, and it gives you an airbrushed finish. It’s also super soft and I like the colors, I don’t have a lot of brushes in this color.

October:

The October box was fantastic. I feel like as we got closer to the end of the year, the boxes got better and better. I’ve talked about this palette a number of times since getting it, but the October box gave me the Ace Beaute Falling For You Palette and I still love it so much. I used it yesterday and it’s still great, the color range, the mix of mattes and shimmer, the color payoff and the formulation are all top notch. This box gave me something I had never tried before, and that was the Appeal Cosmetics Adhesive Liner. I’ve worn this a few times and I do like it, I find it to be quicker and easier than messing around with lash glue, and we all know how much of a mess that can be. I also received a set of lashes that I love, they’re from Camara Aunique Beauty and they’re the Mary Lash. They do give you volume and that oomph that you want from a false lash, but it’s very natural. The last thing in this box that I love is the Tresluce Beauty Like An Artista 4 Piece Brush Set. I know that at the time I received this set the brand was fairly new, but for a new brand they seriously smashed it with the brushes. They’re all super soft, blend nicely and they’re nice to grip.

November:

In November I genuinely loved everything in the box, and I don’t know if that’s happened in the time I’ve been doing BoxyCharm. It started with the Ace Beaute Eyeshadow Amplifying Base in Light, I talk about this all the time, it makes your shadow last all day and it amplifies both mattes and shimmers without being too sticky and tacky. Then we have the Violet Voss Violet Sunset Palette. For being a smaller palette it has a lot of versatility and the colors are so, so pretty. I’ve been using this a lot recently. The Hanalei Beauty Company Matte Bronzer is one that has quickly made it’s way into the front of my bronzer drawer, I love that it’s on the lighter side so you can build it up as much as you want and you get that nice Hawaiian glow. The Luxie Pautips Por La Noche Brush Set was nice to see because I really like Luxie brushes and this came with a cute little pouch which is currently holding these brushes and all the random single brushes I had. The last product in this box is the Bodyography Makeup Brush Cleanser. I used this recently when I cleaned by brushes and having it in the spray bottle was so much quicker and easier and I feel like it didn’t take as much to clean them as it usually does.

December:

I won’t be revealing my thoughts and favorites from the December box in this post, but I will be doing so in my monthly favorites like I always do.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we had any of the same overall Boxy favorites let me know and if not, I’d love to know what you loved from BoxyCharm this year.

Until next time, enjoy your products, I can’t believe Blogmas is almost over and I can’t wait to see what I get next year in BoxyCharm :).

3 Recent Looks Lime Crime Venus III Palette Edition

Hi everyone,

Happy Friday! Today I have a post that I really like doing, and that is a 3 recent looks. This time it’s going to be about the Lime Crime Venus III Palette. This is a palette that I really like a lot and I’ve been having fun playing around with it.

The first look we have is the first look I did with the palette and I wanted to do something fun a bright, so this is what I came up with. The first thing I did was prime my face and to do that I used the GlamGlow GlowStarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in Nude Glow. Then I applied my Covergirl + Olay Simply Ageless Foundation in 205, Ivory, Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 5, Ivory and Ofra Pressed Banana Powder to set it.

IMG_7721

For the rest of my face, I first bronzed using the Nars Laguna bronzer. Then I applied just a little bit of the Too Faced Makeup & Be Merry blush and highlighted using the Maybelline Master Chrome Highlighter in Molten Rose Gold

IMG_7728

IMG_7730

For my eyes, the first thing I did was prime them using the Pretty Vulgar Uncaged Eyeshadow Primer. Then I went into the palette and the first shadow I used is Ecstasy and I put that in the crease, but I did so with a light hand and built it up just a little bit. Then I took Paradise and packed that on the outer and inner corners of my eyes, making sure to bring it in a little bit on both sides but leaving a space in the middle. For the space in the middle, I mixed Beam and Rapture and it created a really pretty effect. I then took Paradise and put it under my eye from the outer corner to about 2/3rds of the way in and for the rest and into the inner corner I used Beam. I lined my eyes using the KVD Tattoo Liner in Trooper and topped it off with the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. For my lips I wanted a nice pink, so I used the Wander Beauty Double Date Lip and Cheek in Rendezvous and I set everything with the Maven Beauty Rose Water Setting Spray

IMG_7571

For the second look I wanted to do something with the pink shadows in the palette and I really like how this look came out. The first thing I did was prime my face using the GlamGlow GlowStarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in Nuge Glow. Then I applied my Covergirl + Olay Simply Ageless Foundation in 250, Ivory, my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 5, Ivory and set everything with the Ofra Pressed Banana Powder.

IMG_7721

For the rest of my face I used the same products as the first look. Nars bronzer in Laguna, Too Faced Makeup & Be Merry blush and Maybelline Master Chrome highlighter in Molten Rose Gold.

IMG_7728

IMG_7730

For my eyes the first thing I did was prime them with the Elizabeth Mott Thank Me Later Eyeshadow Primer. I then went into the palette and used the shade Dreamy. I took that and put it in the crease, building it up just a little bit. I then took Bliss and packed that onto the outer corner of my eyes, bringing it up into the crease just a little and onto the lid. For the rest of my eye I applied Beam and blended that with Bliss. I then took Bliss under my eye from the outer corner about 2/3rds of the way in and for the rest and into the inner corner, I applied Beam. I lined my eyes using the KVD Tattoo Liner in Trooper and topped it off with the Tarte Maneater Mascara. For my lips I wanted a pink, so I used the Wander Beauty Double Date Lip and Cheek in Rendezvous. And I set everything with the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

IMG_7725

IMG_7732

IMG_7597

For the third look I wanted to do something different to the first two and I think it came out so good. I like this one a lot. The first thing I did was prime my face using the Touch In Sol Pretty Filter Glassy Skin Balm. Then I applied my Covergirl + Olay Simply Ageless Foundation in 205, Ivory, my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 5, Ivory and set everything with the Ofra Pressed Banana Powder.

IMG_7726

For the rest of my face, the first thing I did was bronze using the Too Faced Extra Toasty bronzer. I then applied the Too Faced Daydreamer blush and Too Faced Angel Kisses highlighter.

IMG_7727

IMG_7734

For my eyes the first thing I did was prime them using the Pretty Vulgar Uncaged Eyeshadow Primer. Then I took Ecstasy and packed that into the crease. I really like using eyeshadow as liner, so I took and angled brush and lined my eyes using Ecstasy. I then connected the crease and the tip of the liner for a bigger effect and for a bit of sparkle I tapped on a little bit of Heavenly. I topped it off with the Sephora Collection LashCraft Big Volume Mascara. For my lips I wanted something brown to bring it all together, so I took the Beauty Vaulte Kozy Kira Lip Liner and put it all over my lips, topping it with the Nars AfterGlow Lip Balm in Laguna. And I set everything with the Maven Beauty Rose Water Setting Spray.

That about wraps it up for this post, I always really like doing posts like this, so look out for more in the future. If you have this palette, I’d love to know what your favorite look is that you’ve done with it.

Until next time, have fun creating different looks and you can never have too many eyeshadow palettes :).

March Favorites

Hi everyone,

As it’s the end of the month, I thought that today would be the perfect day to do my March favorites. I have a pretty good and fun mix of favorites this month, so let’s get into it.

Starting with beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my March BoxyCharm box, and if you haven’t read that post I’ll link it down below. My first Boxy favorite is the Too Faced Damn Girl Mascara. This is one of those holy grail makeup items for me, it has a really nice and creamy formula that doesn’t smudge, run, transfer or flake. The brush is on the fluffier side and it really does a great job of coating all of your lashes. Plus you get a ton of volume and length without your lashes feeling heavy. This is a mascara I always recommend.

IMG_7545

IMG_7547

My next favorite is the Lime Crime Venus 3 Eyeshadow Palette. I wanted this palette when I saw the spoilers for the box and I’m so happy that I got it. This is an 8 pan palette with a shade range of lilac, rose gold, mauve and brown. There are also five different finishes, matte, foil, sparkly matte, sparkly metallic and metallic. I’ve been using this palette quite a bit and I have a 3 recent looks post coming on it. I don’t want to give away too much of my thoughts on it right now, but I will say that I definitely recommend giving this palette a try.

IMG_7542

IMG_7544

IMG_7554

IMG_7555

And my last beauty favorite is the Maven Beauty Rose Water Setting Spray. This is a product that I was slightly unsure about when I saw it because I really don’t like the essence of rose in beauty and skincare products, but I do love a good setting spray. After a few times of using it I can tell you that I do really like it. Once you spray it the smell dissipates pretty quickly and what you’re left with is makeup that it locked into place for up to 16 hours and won’t smudge.

IMG_7550

Moving on to more random favorites, I first have a fashion favorite and it’s a pair of shoes. It’s not just any pair of shoes though, these are the Hoka One One Cavu 3’s. I’ve been looking for a good workout/running shoe for a long time and hands down these are the best ones I’ve tried. They’re comfortable, supportive and they don’t give me shin splints, which is huge. These are a little more expensive, but the quality and comfort is worth every penny. I also have to thank Tony Kanaan for recommending Hoka, because I might not have found them otherwise.

IMG_7451

IMG_7538

My next favorite is a candy favorite and it’s the Hershey’s Cookies and Creme bar. Cookies and creme is one of my favorite flavor combos, and I’ve always liked the Hershey bars but they’ve been revamped and now have more cookie pieces which make it that much better. Definitely recommend.

IMG_7558

My second to last favorite is a racing favorite and it’s an event that took place last weekend, Funny Car Chaos. I watched the live stream of the race and it was so fun to see so many Funny Cars show up to qualify and race, every round was great, the races were close and it was a great event to watch.

And my last favorite is a music favorite. This month it’s Eric Clapton, in March I spend a lot of time listening to Eric because it’s his birthday month and while I listen to him regularly in general, but it’s definitely more in March.

That abut wraps it up for this post, if we had any of the same favorites let me know and if not I’d love to know what your March favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great March :).

March BoxyCharm Unboxing

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I received my March box from BoxyCharm, and I thought that today would be the perfect day to go through it. The theme this month is Boxy Lucky, which is perfect because St. Patrick’s Day is on the 17th.

IMG_7540

So the first product we have is the Lime Crime Venus 3 Eyeshadow Palette. This is a really pretty palette, it has Venus herself on the front with pink hair, the background is lavender and it has a rose gold boarder around it.

IMG_7542

You get a decent sized mirror with this palette and the mirror has a rose gold boarder around it as well.

IMG_7543

So this is an 8 pan palette, and there are a range of lilac, rose gold, mauve and browns. There are also five, yes five, finishes, matte, foil, sparkly matte, sparkly metallic and metallic.

IMG_7544

The first shade we have is Dreamy, a matte mauve. Next to that is Beam, which is a light lilac that has a pinky shift to it, then there’s Heavenly, a really pretty rose gold and the last shade in the row is Rapture, a light-ish blush/pink shade that has a little bit of shimmer to it.

IMG_7554

The second row starts with Ecstasy, a matte deep purple/brown. Then there’s Paradise, which is so gorgeous and I can’t wait to see on the eye, but it’s a bright fuchsia that has a little sparkle to it. Next to that is Bliss, which is a matte rosy shade and the last shadow in the row is Beloved, which is a metallic, it’s a unique shade that I had to Google to double check, I was being accurate about, but I would call it a mink/brown. It’s a very pretty shade though.

IMG_7555

The next product we have is the Too Faced Damn Girl! Mascara. This is my choice item for the month and it’s one of my all time favorite mascaras. This has a very creamy formula that doesn’t run or smudge. The brush is on the fluffier side so it coats all of your lashes and it gives you a ton of volume and length without feeling heavy or flaking. This is a mascara I always recommend.

IMG_7545

IMG_7547

Next up we have the KAB Cosmetics Lip Oil in Blue Raspberry. This is exactly what it says, a lip oil that is supposed to hydrate your lips and it comes in six different tints. I have to be honest here, because I always like to be transparent with my feelings when it comes to product reviews, this is a do not pass go, do not collect $200 situation. I know that people tend to be trusting of a brand or think it’s going to be super great when it comes from someone they’ve seen on a tv show, but there’s been controversy behind KAB and from my experience with this brand and other brands like it I would say stay away, but if you are interested in it I would recommend doing your research just like you would with any other brand. With this product in particular, the packaging has a really cheap feel to it, it doesn’t smell good, I also question the color choice, and I think it’s overpriced. It’s $20.00, and for that, lower and slightly higher, you can get much better quality lip oils.

IMG_7548

IMG_7549

The second to last product we have is the Maven Beauty Rose Water Setting Spray. I was 50/50 when I saw this, on one hand I love a good setting spray but on the other hand I don’t love the smell of rose in beauty or skincare products. I like roses as a flower, but the essence of rose I do not like. But I smelled this and it smells really good, so I’m excited to try it out. This is supposed to be aura lifting, packed with antioxidents and says it will prevent smudging and lock in your look for up to 16 hours.

IMG_7550

And the last product we have is the Lavish Wet Brush Cleaning System. This is a brush cleaner that comes with a bar of soap, a silicone cleaning pad and a little tin to store it all in. From what I can smell through the packaging, the little soap smells really good, which is always a plus. I was just thinking about how I need to buy another brush cleaner, so this came at the perfect time. I have another product from Lavish, the dry brush cleaner and I love it, so I’m interested to try this out.

IMG_7551

IMG_7552

IMG_7553

That about wraps it up for this post, if you got any of the same products in your March box let me know and if not I’d love to know what you did get.

Until next time, enjoy your products and I can’t wait to see what I get in my April box :).
