Easter Decor

Hi everyone,

As Easter is this weekend and I’ve pretty much finished decorating, I thought it would be fun to show you guys my decorations. I basically revamped my decorations this year and a lot of it is new and I’m really pleased with how it turned out. And with that being said, let’s get into it.

The first thing we have is a couple of signs. This first one has a wood background and it says Hippity Hoppity Easter’s On Its Way in various colors and glitters. And it’s hanging on a piece of rope.

ED1

Next we have a felt baby chick with a green boarder that has little eggs in it. And it’s hanging on a green ribbon.

ED2

I really like this third one, it has three parts. The top says Happy in pink and it has a green background with a purple boarder. The middle says Easter in white with a purple background, polka dots and a pink boarder. The bottom is a green egg with pink, purple and white polka dots. And it’s hanging on a dark pink ribbon.

ED3

Next up is a wooden sign that is shaped like a wreath. The green when you get a good look at it is grass and it’s covered in eggs covered in various patterns and it says Happy Easter in the middle in purple and it’s hanging on a light pink ribbon.

ED4

The second to last sign is one of my favorites and it’s another stacked sign. One the top there’s a little bunny with a small egg and it says Happy Easter. And underneath is four eggs in various colors and patterns.

ED5

And this last sign is on my screen door facing out, hence the slight glare. It has a big bunny in the middle with flowers around it, Happy Easter on top, a really pretty blue background and a pink and yellow boarder.

ED6

Next up I have some lights. Around Christmas I bought extra boxes of multicolored lights so I could have them for any time of the year I wanted. I put up a couple strings of those in my dining room and in my living room. Then I accented with these specialty lights. The first string are carrots and the second string are eggs.

ED7

ED8

On my little drink cart I have this big plastic egg filled with smaller little glitter eggs. And I did just buy some Easter basket filling to add so it has more color and dimension.

ED9

And lastly I have these two bunnies that I’m going to stick in my garden. I bought purple and blue and I think they add the perfect little Easter touch without being too over the top.

ED11

The things that I still have to do are hang up two banners, I don’t know where they’re going yet, put on a festive tablecloth and I bought two packs of those gel window clings. I’ll probably put those on some mirrors instead of the windows though.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we have any of the same decorations let me know which ones and if not I’d love to know what your favorite decoration of yours is.

Until next time, have fun decorating and have a happy Easter :).

Blogmas Day Three: My Christmas Tree and Holiday Stories

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Day Three of Blogmas! Today I’m going to be showing you guys my Christmas tree and talking about some of my favorite Christmas stories to read as a child. And I’m going to start with my tree.

I’m really happy with my tree this year, I’m not entirely sure what it is, I think it’s a Noble or some variation of Noble. I went to a tree farm I’d never been to before but is really popular and I was impressed. It’s a huge area and they have beautiful trees. Already having my tree and having it decorated makes it feel so much more Christmassy and makes me even more excited for Christmas.

HB8

HB9

Moving on, we have some Christmas stories. When I was a kid these were stories that I loved to read or when I was really little have read to me and they just embody the holiday season to me. And now my mom has kept the tradition going by reading these stories to my niece and nephew. There are two version of The Night Before Christmas because I would keep one on my little bookshelf to read whenever I wanted and my mom would keep the hardback version. And besides The Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore, we have The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg, Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer by Robert L. May and Rudolph Shines Again by Robert L. May, which is the sequel to Rudolph.

HB1

HB2

HB4

HB7

HB5

HB6

HB3

That about wraps it up for this post, if you guys read any of these books/if any of these books are part of your Christmas traditions or if you read something different during the holidays I’d love to know.

Until next time, enjoy your books and have fun decorating your trees :).

Father’s Day gift guide 2017

Hi everyone,

This week because Father’s Day is coming up I thought I would do a gift guide. I have always found it really easy to buy presents for my dad. But I know it’s not that way for a lot of people. And whether it’s that way for you or you’re just stuck for an idea this Father’s Day, I hope this post is helpful for you. I have a number of categories, and I will have a link down below to the things that I mention.

So the first thing is a Father’s Day classic and that’s anything in the area of grilling. I don’t think there’s a dad that doesn’t love to grill during a sunny summer weekend, or even during a rainy weekend. A set of grilling implements, an apron and anything like that is always a solid and probably safe bet. My dad is more into smoking than grilling right now, and most times when we have family get togethers he’s smoking some sort of meat and it’s delicious. If you’re going to go that route Masterbuillt is the best brand. Their products are top quality.

Next we have the personal care. I’ve always found that pretty much most men need and use a razor, so that’s always a good present. Along that same vein, cologne, lotions and products like that are good.

Pretty much one thing that never misses, doesn’t matter the event is gift cards. Everyone loves them and it takes the stress away of having to buy the perfect present.

One thing that pretty much everyone uses is some sort of streaming service. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc. Subscriptions to services like that are like gift cards. They have something for everyone.

Next up is a dad classic, tools. There is always a need for tools, in every household. Screw drivers, saws, drills. All always needed.

One of my favorite things to do with my dad is watch sports and talk (occasionally argue) about it. I, like my dad, am a huge Mariners and Seahawks fan so anytime either of us see anything Seahawks or Mariners related that the other would like we buy it. So if your dad is a sports fan any kind of jersey or knick knack type thing will be a hit. Especially if you can find anything signed by his favorite player or players.

I have two things left on my list and the second to last is anything related to technology. I know that technology isn’t everyone’s forte, but for the technology lover, Bluetooth speakers, drones, you can’t go wrong. I personally really want a drone, but haven’t bought one yet. Maybe I’ll buy one for my dad and “borrow it”.

And lastly, anything personalized is always a hit on Father’s Day. Cups, plaques, anything you can think of you can personalize. I’ve found that a personalized gift usually draws a couple of tears. And is always appreciated.

That about wraps it up for this post. Like I mentioned at the beginning of this, hopefully this post is helpful to you guys and you find something that your dad will love.

Until next time, I hope you find something and have a Happy Father’s Day :).

The four manicures of Christmas

Days until Christmas: 3

Hi everyone,

Today I wanted to talk about manicures and specifically the Christmassy manicures I’ve had this month leading up to December 25th. So the first one is more on the simple side, but I don’t like to go too crazy, I like to build it up as the month goes on. So I went with a simple sparkly red with a gold accent and made the gold nail a present. As for what I used to achieve that is; the red is from Pure Ice and it’s in 1626, Hit the Floor, the gold is from the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear collection and it’s in 485 Golden-I and the red I used to create the ribbon on the present is a Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art pen with a fine tip in 380 Red.

dn1

The next manicure is one I try to do every year and that is simple snowflakes. For this the blue I used was from like Salon Perfect and that’s in 207 Blue Ribbon and for the white I used a Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art pen with a fine tip in 360 Pearly White.

dn2

Now, the third manicure is kind of a cheater because it has nothing to do with Christmas. However, the Seahawks were playing Thursday Night Football in their special color rush jerseys so I wanted to try and match and I think I hit the nail on the head with this one. So the green I used is from Salon Perfect in 502 Loopy Lime and the blue is a Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art pen with a fine tip in 430 Blue.

dn3

And the final manicure is the one that I currently have and will have through Christmas. I almost started running out of ideas, then it dawned on me that I hadn’t done the classic yet. A Christmas tree. So for this one I used a couple of different polishes. For the green tree I used Pure Ice 303 Free Spirit, for the garland I used Sally Hansen 485 Golden-I, the ornaments was Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art pen with a fine tip in 380 Red. For the accent present nail the red is Sinful Colors 852 Gogo Girl and the ribbon is a Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art pen with a fine tip in 360 Pearly White.

dn6

And because I didn’t do a Christmas decorations post this year, I thought I would include a picture of my tree.

dn5

That about wraps it up for this post, I honestly really enjoyed all of my Christmas content this year and I can’t wait to do it again next year. I hope you all have a great Christmas and if you don’t celebrate, I hope you have a great day :).

Until next time, enjoy your festive manicures and I can’t believe it’s almost Christmas :).

Pumpkins and Halloween playlist

Hi everyone,

As today is Halloween, I wanted to do a post that is purely fun. And to start I wanted to talk about music. Whether you are having/ going to a party tonight or just want a fun soundtrack to have on in the background, I’ve complied a list of some of my favorite songs for Halloween. So on the top of my list are the classic Halloween songs: I Put A Spell On You; there are so many versions of this song, but my favorites are by John Fogerty, Joe Cocker, and of course the one Better Midler sang in Hocus Pocus, my favorite Halloween movie. Next we have Time Warp from the Rocky Horror Picture Show, Monster Mash, I think the best version is by Don Hinson, next we have Ghostbusters from the movie Ghostbusters, and finally we have Thriller by Michael Jackson because it’s not Halloween without a little MJ. Moving along, we have songs that weren’t made specifically for Halloween, but definitely have that vibe. First up is Werewolves of London by Warren Zevon, such a fun song. Next is Superstition by Stevie Wonder. The third song is Bat Out of Hell by Meat Loaf, I wasn’t sure initially about including this one, but I like it, it’s fun. Next we have Black Magic by Little Mix, one of my recent favorites for sure. This next one could go either way with the Halloween theme, but I figured I’d put it in anyway and it’s Highway to Hell by AC/DC. The last two are moon themed. The first is Bad Moon Rising by Creedence Clearwater Revival, CCR, or if you like John Fogerty has his own solo version with his band. And the last song is one of my absolute favorites and that is Cajun Moon by Eric Clapton. This is from the album Eric Clapton & Friends: The Breeze, An Appreciation of JJ Cale. So this is one of JJ’s songs and I think it’s great. Definitely check out all of these songs if you haven’t heard them before because they are all really great :).

Now on to the next part of the blog, the pumpkin part :). So last week I went and got a pumpkin and yesterday I finally got the chance to carve it. I always tend to go for bigger pumpkins because there is more surface area for whichever design I choose. But this one was big, 21 pounds big.

img_4829

It didn’t take me as long as I thought it would to scrape it out, but it was definitely an arm workout.

img_4832

I’m honestly so, so pleased with the way it came out and I can’t wait to see what it looks like when it’s lit up.

That about wraps it up for this post. I hope you guys like the playlist I put together and maybe you’ll find a new favorite song, who knows?

Until next time, enjoy your night, whatever you may be doing and Happy Halloween!

I want your input

Hi everyone,

This isn’t the typical blog post, but rather something I want your opinion on. I’ve been wanting to do a Q&A for a while now, and I want to know how you guys want me to do it. What I’m thinking is I can do the traditional blog post where you send me your questions and I write out my answers, or I could do a livestream on YouTube. Let me know what you guys think and remember to send in questions. The questions can be about anything you want, so don’t think it has to be solely about makeup and beauty. Anyway, let me know what you guys think :).

A little bit of everything

Hi everyone,

Over the past week and a half or so I’ve been picking up a few things here and there and doing a bit of shopping. I wasn’t looking for anything specific so it’s quite a random mix. A couple of these things were presents I got for my birthday, but I’m going to throw those in with everything else. The first thing I’m going to start with is a couple of home décor pieces. First is this mug. I love mugs and I feel like you can never have enough. What I like about this one is it has the K on it and it’s not an overly complicated design. It’s actually slightly bigger than a normal mug so you can fit more liquid in it but it’s not heavy like bigger ones can be.

BD2

My next piece is a chair. I’m doing some redecorating and one thing I always look for is a really fun chair. This one is the saucer style and so incredibly soft. It has everything that I was looking for, nice size, chevron pattern, and it’s cozy.

BD3

Moving on to fun things. The next thing is this puzzle. Ever since I was a little kid I’ve loved to do puzzles. I love the challenge and this one has definitely been a challenge. I thought oh, it’s only 1,000 pieces, how hard can it be? The answer is hard. I’m at a point where all of the pieces look the same, so it’s taking me more time than I thought it would. But I’ll be happy when it’s completed and looks like the picture on the box :). Oh and Go Hawks.

BD9

Next up is beauty. The first thing is picked up is a lipstick. It’s the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in 080, Strawberry Shortcake. This isn’t just a lipstick, it’s my absolute favorite and I have repurchased many times. I love the texture, the color, the staying power. All of it. It is quite a summer shade, but it’s not so bright that you can’t wear it in winter. Which I have been doing.

BD6

Next is another repurchase and it’s my concealer. It’s the L’Oreal True Match super blendable concealer. I really like this concealer. It gives great coverage and it’s long lasting. I use the matching True Match foundation and the two together work great for me. In the L’Oreal color system I’m an N2, so this is in the shade Fair/Light.

BD5

The last beauty product I picked up is the e.l.f High Definition Powder. I honestly love this powder. It’s mattifying, it’s light and not cakey at all. It came with it’s own little powder puff, but I find those really hard to keep clean, so I bought an e.l.f powder brush to use with it. I cannot say enough good things about e.l.f. There products are absolutely amazing. The quality you get for how little you pay is fantastic. This powder cost me $6.00. And I highly recommend it.

BD4

My last couple of things are fashion related. My first item is an infinity scarf. I really like the colors of this scarf. I don’t normally wear stripes, but with the right styling this could go with any outfit.

BD7

The last thing is this lacey, short sleeved cardigan. This will be great for spring and summer. It’s light, highly detailed and because it’s cream it will go great with everything.

BD8

In case anyone was wondering, my lip color is one of the All Glossed Up Lip Stains from the Hard Candy Cube of Lip Color lip collection.

Until next time, don’t be afraid to try new products and remember, a little shopping never hurt anyone :).
