June 2022 Favorites

Hi everyone,

Happy Friday! As it’s the last day of the month, I thought it would be the perfect time to do my monthly favorites. I have a pretty good mix of stuff this month, so let’s get into it.

Starting with beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my June BoxyCharm box, and if you haven’t read that yet, I’ll link it below. My first Boxy favorite is the Chella Dual Liquid Eyeliner Pearl. This is a double ended liquid eyeliner, one side is blue, the other is black and they are formulated with pearl pigments to give them a nice shine. I have yet to try the blue, but I’ve been wearing the black and I like it a lot. The pearl doesn’t come through quite as much but I don’t mind. It’s long wearing, doesn’t smudge and because the brush is tapered, it gives you a lot of control over the size and style of the line you’re doing. I definitely recommend.

My next beauty favorite is the Violet Voss SunKissed Summer Eyeshadow and Pressed Pigment Palette. I am currently working on a Three Recent Looks with this palette, so I won’t say too much, but I do really like it. The formulation and pigmentation of the shadows is top tier. There’s quite a bit of diversity within the colors and you see that once you start swatching, so you have quite a few options when it comes to looks with this palette. I really like Violet Voss as a brand, I have a couple of their other palettes and they’re a mainstay in my eyeshadow palette collection.

IMG_1679

IMG_1680

My second to last beauty favorite is the Yensa Tone Up Primer Essential Glow. I was slightly unsure if my skin would like this when I got it, but I’ve been using it since and I can tell you that both myself and my skin are very happy with it. It has 8 super powered skin loving ingredients, black sesame oil, black seaweed, black tea, shiitake mushroom, black rice, Korean black raspberry, nettle and chia seed. There is no parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, phthalates and it’s animal cruelty free. What this does do is makes your makeup last all day while minimizing the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles while having a satin-sheen finish. I can be kind of picky with what I like in a face primer, but this one has found a way into my makeup bag and I think it will be there for a while.

IMG_1683

And my last beauty favorite is the Volition Beauty Turmeric Brightening Polish. I’ve been using this since I got it and I like it a lot. This is turmeric based and it helps to brighten, smooth, tone and hydrate skin while helping to promote overall skin radiance and give you a natural glow. I think a good scrub is always a good thing to have. I use this on my legs when I shave and I’ve been seeing a definite difference. My legs are even softer than they were before and they are definitely extra hydrated. My only thing is because this is turmeric based, it doesn’t smell the best, but I can definitely overlook that because of the results. If you’re looking for a good body scrub, I would recommend giving this a try.

IMG_1684

Moving on, I have a book favorite and it’s Long Train Runnin’ Our Story of The Doobie Brothers by Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons with Chris Epting. I’ve mentioned before how much I love The Doobie Brothers, they are a band I grew up with, they were a HUGE part of my childhood, and I still love them just as much. So when I saw Pat and Tom where releasing a book I was incredibly excited and this is everything I wanted it to be and more. There were obviously some stories I knew, some I knew parts of and a lot that I didn’t know at all, it was incredibly interesting to read the different perspectives from the guys that were there and not just one long story. There were parts where I laughed, parts where I felt all the emotions, a lot of Tom when he was leaving the band, but I think what I did the most, what this book kind of forced me to do was go back and look at a lot of their songs in a different way. The lyrics, the arrangements, all of it. I guess what I’m trying to say is that it made me really, listen to the music. And I thank Pat and Tom for taking the time to write it down because The Doobie Brothers have such and incredible story and history and I’m honored to know more of it than ever before. If you are a casual or longtime fan of theirs or just love music history I highly recommend giving this book a read. You will learn so much and the pictures they included are fantastic.

IMG_1627

And my last favorite isn’t a music favorite, although there are some songs I am liking right now, that’s for next month’s favorites, but it’s a podcast favorite. My podcast. I mention my podcast The Unlikely Motorsports Duo each month because I feel like we grow so much every time we release an episode. We have a spicy one up at the moment on our Twitch channel from this week, go watch it (please and thank you!). And something else that’s exciting, we now have merch! We currently have mugs, can koozies, stickers and magnets. Also, if you are a driver, brand, company or involved in motorsports in any way and want to be represented on another platform, let’s do a merch swap! I always wear some form of motorsports merchandise during the show so if you have clothes, stickers, mugs, etc, reach out and we’ll do that! My cohost and I are having a ton of fun doing the show and we’re excited to keep growing. We actually have a fun motorsports based game night coming up, so keep an eye on my social media for the time and date of that!

IMG_1553

That about wraps it up for this month, if we have any of the same favorites let me know and if not, I’d love to know what your June favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great June :).

May 2022 Favorites

Hi everyone,

As it’s the last day of the month, I thought it would be the perfect time to do my May favorites. I had a busy month with a lot going on, so I didn’t try a whole lot of new/different things, but I think I have a nice little list so let’s get into it.

Starting with beauty, I have three favorites from my May BoxyCharm box and if you haven’t read that, I’ll link it below. My first Boxy favorite is the Item Beauty by Addison Rae Air Hug Concealer in 100. This is a medium to full coverage concealer with a lightweight formula. I was worried when I saw this because we’ve seen before that a lot of “influencer” or “celebrity” makeup lines, aren’t great but honestly I’m so impressed with this. The formulation is really nice, so when you apply it it basically glides on and blends into the skin without creasing. It also has a really nice, big doe foot applicator and I think that helps with the easy application. This now has a permanent spot in my makeup bag and I 100% recommend giving it a try if you haven’t.

IMG_1418 (1)

IMG_1419 (1)

IMG_1420 (1)

My next beauty favorite is the V Kosmetik Creamy Liquid Velvet Lipstick in Bubbly. I really, really like this lipstick. It has a lightweight formula, it’s creamy and very longwearing. The color is also a major plus. It’s a gorgeous berry tone that I think is quite versatile. It would be nice in the fall/winter months but it also plays well to the spring/summer months. This my first introduction to V Kosmetik as it’s a new brand to BoxyCharm, but I’m really interested to see what other lipsticks and products in general, they have.

IMG_1421 (1)

IMG_1423 (1)

IMG_1422 (1)

IMG_1395

And my last beauty favorite is the Yensa Skin On Skin Beauty Sponge. This is a multi-functional sponge that guarantees skin like, streak free, full coverage. It’s paraben, sulfate, latex, phthalate and animal cruelty free. I thought that it felt a little bit harder than what I typically go for, but once it was wet, it softened up and was nice to use.

IMG_1424 (1)

IMG_1425 (1)

Moving on, I have a racing favorite and it’s not just any race, it’s the Greatest Spectacle in Racing, the Indy 500. Once you have friends that are race car drivers it automatically makes all races more stressful but also more fun and exciting. And this year was incredible exciting. The USAF Thunderbirds did an incredible job, as always, with the flyover, Roger Penske and the Penske Corporation did a fantastic job putting on the first 500 with an almost full capacity crowd since the pandemic. The racing was top tier, everyone was on their game and the last couple laps were some of the most stressful I’ve watched in a while, but in a good way. I obviously have to congratulate Marcus Ericsson and Chip Ganassi Racing on their win, that’s so exciting. And I also want to say that I’m super proud of Tony Kanaan for his third place finish. If you guys watched the 500 this year I’d love to know what your favorite moment was.

And my last favorite isn’t a music favorite, but a podcast favorite. My podcast to be exact. I have talked about my podcast before, but we just rebranded! This will be the last name change, I promise, but we are now The Unlikely Motorsports Duo. This is the best, most representative name we’ve had and I’m so happy with it. We will at some point be changing our logo, we don’t know what we’re changing it to yet, but leave me comment with your thoughts and don’t forget to join us at https://www.twitch.tv/theunlikelymotorsportsduo for motorsports commentary!

IMG_1553

That about wraps it up for this post, if we had any of the same favorites this month let me know and if not, I’d love to know what your May favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great May :).

April 2022 Favorites

Hi everyone,

As it’s the end of the month, I thought it would be the perfect time to do my April Favorites. I feel like this month went by so fast and I was so busy so I don’t have a huge list, but it’s a good mix so let’s get into it.

Starting with beauty, all of my beauty favorites are from my April BoxyCharm box and if you haven’t read that post, I’ll link it below. My first beauty favorite is the Beauty Bakerie Sour Ya Doin’? Palette. I have a ‘Three Recent Looks’ post coming with this palette so I won’t say too much. But I think it’s fantastic. The formulation, the pigmentation, it’s all top tier. Very well done by Beauty Bakerie.

IMG_1099

IMG_1101

My next favorite is the Dominique Cosmetics Creamy Fill & Define Lip Liner in Crush. This is so good! It’s very creamy, goes on smooth, and it has the teardrop shape so you can use the top to get that precise line and the bottom to fill in. I really like this color as well, it’s a nice light/medium nudey brown so it will go with so many lipsticks. I also used this as an all over lip color, which I do often with lip liners to get a true sense of their color and I recommend it. I also recommend this lip liner.

IMG_1105

IMG_1107

IMG_1112

And my last beauty favorite is the Flirtacious Looks Cosmetics The Perfect Duel: Foundation Travel Set and specifically the sponge, the Quick Beat. At first I thought this sponge was maybe a little firmer than what I usually like, but after I wet it it softened up and I do like it. It has a sharp tip and a flat edge for smooth application and you can tell when you’re applying that it is going on smooth and blending well. I don’t like this as much as the Real Techniques sponges, but it’s a good sponge.

IMG_1108

IMG_1110

IMG_1111

Moving on I have a TV Show favorite and it’s Selling Sunset Season 5 on Netflix. I’ve been watching since season 1 so I have my favorite cast members, but the fashion and the real estate have really elevated over the five seasons and I can’t wait to see what they wear and what they sell next.

And my last favorite is a music favorite. It’s the Heavy Load Blues (Deluxe Edition) album from Gov’t Mule. This is a band I’ve been listening to for years and I think this is one of the best albums to date. Not only is it one of their best, I really think that this is the blues album the world needs right now. Top to bottom it’s full of great songs and I definitely recommend giving it a listen if you haven’t.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we had any of the same favorites let me know and if not I’d love to know what your April favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great April :).

March 2022 Favorites

Hi everyone,

As it’s the end of the month, I thought it would be the perfect time to do my monthly favorites. I haven’t done one yet this year, so I have quite a bit to talk. Let’s get into it.

Starting with beauty, I have some favorites from both my February and March BoxyCharm boxes. My first Boxy favorites are from February, and they’re both things I’ve mentioned recently in Three Recent Looks posts. The first is the Wander Beauty Wanderess Escape Palette. This is a universal palette that has a range of colors and finishes and I think is a great option if you’re wanting something that is, universal or you’re someone who is starting their makeup collection. The pigmentation is high, the formula is great and this is definitely a palette I recommend.

My second February Boxy favorite is the Ace Beaute Glow Essentials Highlighter Palette. This is a six pan highlight palette with a range of shades. I’ve really been liking this a lot, all of these are really nicely pigmented and where you just swipe them on or you buff them out, you get a really nice glow. You guys know how much I like Ace Beaute and I think they really nailed it with this one. Plus the packaging is adorable.

Moving to my March Boxy favorites, we’re going to start with the StyleDry Coconut & Fig Hair Mask. This has coconut oil and murumuru butter which deeply nourishes to give you hydrated, healthy and glossy hair. I’ve used this once since I got it and I really like it. It smells incredible and it really did make my hair soft and glossy. I love a good hair mask and this is definitely a good one.

My next Boxy favorite is the Earth Harbor Naturals Nymph Nectar Superfruit Radiance Balm. This balm has sea fruits and tropical super berries along with Vitamins C, A, E and K, amino acids, omegas and other bio-actives to help you achieve the best, bounciest and dewiest skin. I’ve been using this since I got it and I use it specifically after I shower. If I’ve taken a morning shower then I do a light layer like a moisturizer and if I take a night shower I put on a thicker layer and use it like an overnight mask and wash it off in the morning. I’m really liking it and I can see a difference in my skin already. This had really great reviews and I can see why, I definitely recommend it.

My second to last beauty favorite and last Boxy favorite, is the Ofra Charm Your Cheeks Mini Mix Blush Palette. This is a six pan palette with a range of colors and made with Ofra’s liquid-to-baked technology. I really like the Ofra blushes I’ve tried, and am currently using, so I knew this palette was going to be good. The formulation is great, they’re all super pigmented and they mix super well together so you can great any blend you want. Plus this palette is magnetic, so you can easily pop out the pans and replace them.

And my last beauty favorite is the makeup I did for St. Patrick’s Day. I like to do something fun every year for it, I am Irish, so that makes me want to do a little more for it and you guys know I love a festive makeup look. Overall I’m super happy with how it came out.

4C8C78FE-153C-4C6B-AE8B-B09B82ABA4FB

Moving on, I have a food/candy favorite and it’s Life Saver’s Gummies. I really don’t eat candy that often, but when I do I really like these. They’ve been a favorite of mine for a long time and I always go back to them. I think the original are my ultimate favorite, but they have a berry one that’s good too.

And my last favorite, isn’t a music favorite, but a podcast. My podcast in fact. If you guys didn’t know, I do have a podcast, The Unlikely Duo Podcast on Twitch. We recently went through a rebrand and I’m so happy with it now. Myself and my cohost are doing motorsports commentary on the Monday’s after race weekends, you guys may or may not know that I’m a motorsports journalist, and the fact that I can bring that into this project is really fun and something I’m enjoying a lot. So if you’re an avid Twitch viewer or just want a great podcast to watch/listen to, give us a follow. I just put up some merch in our merch store as well, so we have some fun drinkware options to choose from.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we had any of the same favorites this month let me know, and if not I’d love to know what your favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great March :).

November Favorites

Hi everyone,

As it’s the end of the month I thought it would be the perfect time to do my November favorites. I wanted to mention that I am going to be doing Blogmas this year and I’m excited about it, so look out for that coming soon! Back to the favorites, I feel like I have a pretty good mix this month, so let’s get into it.

Starting with Beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my November BoxyCharm box, and if you haven’t read that I’ll link it below. My first Boxy favorite is the Ace Beaute Eyeshadow Amplifying Base in Light. This is a full coverage eyeshadow base that gives your shadow a longer wear time and amplifies both matte and shimmer shadows. I’ve been using this since I got it and I really like it. It has just the right amount of tack to it, but it’s not too sticky or too wet. This has made it’s way into my rotation of eyeshadow bases and I definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re in the market for an eyeshadow base.

IMG_9687

My next Boxy favorite is the Violet Voss Violet Sunset Eyeshadow and Pressed Pigment Palette. I’m not going to say too much about this because I have a ‘Three Recent Looks’ post coming soon with it, but I really, really like it. The color story is nice, the formulation and color payoff is great and it’s very versatile. Definitely a palette I recommend, and from this I’ve been looking through the Violet Voss website to see which palette I want to buy next.

IMG_9688

IMG_9690

My last Boxy favorite and second to last beauty favorite is the Hanalei Beauty Company Matte Bronzer. This bronzer is supposed to give you a sun kissed Hawaiian look and it really does. It’s long-wearing, really smooth and super buildable. This bronzer has quickly made it’s way into my top favorites.

IMG_9691

IMG_9693

IMG_9703

And my last beauty favorite is my Thanksgiving makeup. I always try to do something in the fall color palette, usually orange/brown/gold and this year I’m super happy with what I came up with.

IMG_9824

Moving on to more random favorites, we have Thanksgiving itself. It’s always one of my favorite holidays because the food is so good and it’s nice to just chill and hangout. I make apple pie every year and it always comes out great, but this year it seemed extra good and I think it looked really nice.

IMG_9830

I have a couple of TV show favorites and they both happen to come from Netflix. The first is the Great British Bake Off. The current season just finished and I can honestly say that this has been one of my favorite seasons in a while. I genuinely really liked the final three so much and would have been happy with any of them winning. I won’t spoil who won in case anyone hasn’t seen it, but I will tell you that it made me cry. I swear I get the most emotional watching baking shows lol.

My second Netflix favorite is season 4 of Selling Sunset. I watched it in 3 days. I think the combination of having to wait so long between seasons 3 and 4 coupled with the fact that I had seen and heard some things from the season as they were happening made me want to watch it more and it was SO good. I cannot wait for season 5 to come out because I am team Jason and Chrishell and I think it’s going to be really sweet to see their relationship on screen. Also, the fashion is incredible and the houses are just next level.

And my last favorite is a music favorite and it’s Joe Bonamassa’s new album Time Clocks. I swear every time Joe releases an album it’s better than the one before it and that is definitely the case with this one. It’s genre bending, which Joe is incredible at, but it’s still the blues at the roots and I love so many of the songs. I definitely, definitely recommend giving it a listen if you haven’t yet.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we have any of the same favorites let me know and if not I’d love to know what your November favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great November :).

October Favorites

Hi everyone,

I know it’s a day late, but today I’m going to be doing my October Favorites. It’s late because I went to a Halloween party on the 30th and wanted to include my costume in this post. I think I have a pretty good mix of favorites this month, so let’s get into it.

Starting with beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my October BoxyCharm box, and I’ll link that below if you haven’t read it. My first Boxy favorite is the Appeal Cosmetics Adhesive Liquid Liner in Jet Black. This is the first adhesive liner I’ve tried and I really do like it. It’s so much easier than messing with a tube of glue, all you do is apply, wait for it to get tacky, then put your lashes on. Easy peasy. On the liner side of this, it’s ultra fine and you can easily do a thin or thick line. I definitely recommend giving this a try if you’re wanting to ditch the lash glue.

IMG_9448

IMG_9449

My next Boxy favorite is the Camara Aunique Beauty Mary Lash. These are faux mink and the most natural in their collection. They give you a nice, softness to your look while still giving you a good amount of volume. I’ve worn these a couple different times and I like them a lot. I’m definitely going to be picking up some more lashes from Camara Aunique in the future.

IMG_9451

IMG_9512

IMG_9513

My last Boxy favorite is the Ace Beaute Falling For You Palette. I’m not going to say too much about this palette because I’m going to be doing a Three Recent Looks post with it, but what I will say is that I like it a lot. I think it’s super versatile, perfect for this time of year but you could wear it during the warmer months as well and the shadows are fantastic. Definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re looking for a great fall palette.

IMG_9445

IMG_9447

And my last beauty favorite is the look I did to go with my Halloween costume. It’s very similar to the one I did for the 4th of July, with a few changes, but I like it a lot and it really added to the whole overall look.

IMG_9572

Moving on to more random favorites, we have my Halloween costume itself. This year I wanted something really fun and sparkly so that’s exactly what I got. Sparkly sailor. I think this is one of my favorite costumes I’ve done in a while, I had a lot of fun with it and it’s super cute. And honestly for being 90% sequins it wasn’t itchy which sequined things sometimes can be.

IMG_9578

IMG_9580

And my last favorite is a music favorite and it’s the Doobie Brothers new album Liberte. You guys, I honestly can’t say enough good things about this album. From top to bottom it’s incredible, I genuinely really like every song, I don’t listen to Amen Old Friend as much because it makes emotional every time I do, which isn’t a bad thing, but ya know. But I genuinely can’t pick a favorite song, they’re all so great. The only thing I don’t love is the fact that I preordered it and they’ve had delays in getting them out so I haven’t gotten a physical copy yet, but I know they were supposed to start shipping end of October so I’m excited to get my hands on it. If you haven’t listened to Liberte yet I highly, highly recommend doing so.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we have any of the same favorites let me know and if not I’d love to know what your October favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great October :).

September Favorites

Hi everyone,

As it’s the last day of the month I thought it would be the perfect time to do my September Favorites. I was so busy this month and I feel like I didn’t try a whole lot of new things, but I still have a pretty good mix so let’s get into it.

Starting with beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my September BoxyCharm box, and if you haven’t read that I’ll link it below. My first Boxy favorite is the Pinky Rose Cosmetics Multi Use Makeup Base Sticks. This is the Duo Hip Hop and Jazz set. I have yet to use the Jazz side, but I have used Hip Hop a couple of times and I’m really liking it. Hip Hop is a cream primer stick and I’ve been using it as an eyeshadow primer. I like it because it’s on the slightly thicker side and once you apply it you can really feel that it’s going to do it’s job. It’s definitely made it’s way into my eyeshadow primer collection and it’s the only one that I have in stick form, so I’ve been reaching for it more purely for the convenience.

IMG_9307

IMG_9308

My last Boxy favorite is the Half Caked 813 Duo Brush. This brush is 100% synthetic, has a light lavender handle and the brush itself is a a tan shade on the bottom with a brown line in the middle and white fibers on top. This brush is decently soft, and it did sort out it’s shape after being smashed in the box, so it’s fully functioning now. One of the selling features of this brush is it’s supposed to give you an airbrushed finish and it really does. I usually have one or two brushes I use for blush, but this one is quite good and I think it’s decently priced for brush like this.

IMG_9314

And my last favorite is the Tarte Fall Feels Palette. I did a separate post on this, which I’ll link below, so I’m not going to talk too much about it. But I will say that I’m in the middle of doing my Three Recent Looks post for it and I’m liking it a lot. These are fun shadows to play with and I definitely recommend giving this palette a try if you haven’t already.

IMG_9261

IMG_9263

Moving on I have a TV show favorite and it’s the new season of the Great British Bake Off. I love Bake Off, it’s always one of my favorite shows and for the longest time America had to wait to see the seasons but with the deal they have with Netflix we get the episodes a couple days after they air in the UK and I love that. If you’re not watching this season yet, you should be, it’s a good one.

And my last favorite, well favorites, are music favorites. The first is the most recent Little Mix song Love Sweet Love. It’s such a bop, they’re making top tier music like always, but it’s so good and the music video is dreamy. Their costuming and set design is just epic.

My second music favorite is the most recent Doobie Brothers song American Dream. I’ve had this one on repeat as of late and it has all the hallmarks of a song of summer but you just want to sing along, and I obviously already know all the words. Their new album Liberte is out tomorrow and I can’t wait to hear everything. I preordered it and I’m excited to get it. If the entire album is as good as what’s been released so far we are in for an epic album.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we have any of the same favorites let me know and if not I’d love to know what your September favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great September :).

August Favorites

Hi everyone,

As it’s the last day of the month I thought it would be the perfect time to do my August favorites. I have a pretty good mix this month, so let’s get into it.

Starting beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my August BoxyCharm box, and if you haven’t read that post I’ll link it down below. My first Boxy favorite is the Vitamasques Glow Juicy Berries Face Mask. I love a good sheet mask and this is exactly that. It probiotic and adaptogenic with Vitamin C, Niacinamide and a Super Berry Complex that has blackberry and raspberry to brighten the skin and improve uneven skin tone. I did feel like this brightened my skin and I would repurchase. This came in a set with another mask, which after this I can’t wait to use. I definitely recommend Vitamasques if you’re in the market for good face masks.

My next beauty favorite is the Voilition Beauty Hibiscus Unspottable Correcting Oil. This is an oil that redeuces the appearance of dark spots and discoloration, soothes the appearance of stressed skin, hydrates and helps to improve moisture retention and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I have a couple little dark spots from acne scars so I started using this right after I got it and it does seem to be helping. One of them has completely gone away and I can definitely tell that the others are lightening. This comes with a little dropper applicator, so you don’t get too much coming out and you do get 35 ml/1.1 oz, so there’s a decent amount. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a face oil.

And my last beauty favorite is the Dito Cosmetics Limited Edition Venus 12 Shade Eyeshadow Palette. I was really excited when I saw this palette because I’m a big space nerd and obviously I love makeup, so it’s the perfect combination. I’m currently working on a ‘3 Recent Looks’ with this palette, so I won’t say too much about it or give too many opinions, but I am liking it. It’s a really fun palette.

Moving on to a random favorite, I’m really loving the weather right now. We’re at the end of summer right now so it’s not as hot, but this week we’ve had some colder and definitely more fall-like days and I’m all for it. I also love that we’re seeing the seasonal foods, beauty/skincare, decor and clothes start to pop up.

And my last favorite is a music favorite, well actually, multiple music favorites. So many of my favorite bands/musicians have new music out right now and it’s a good time. The Doobie Brothers have four new songs out currently, and their newest album, which I have preordered and I preordered a physical copy, is coming out in October, so I’m very excited for that. I really like the four songs they have out now, so if the whole album is like that it’s going to be fantastic. Joe Bonamassa also has another new song out, the second single from his upcoming album, and I like it a lot. I like it more than the first single, and this one is more blues forward which, in my opinion, is what he does best even though he absolutely gets away with genre bending and blending. I absolutely recommend giving all these songs a listen if you haven’t.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we had any of the same favorites this month let me know and if not I’d love to know what your August favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great August :).

July Favorites

Hi everyone,

As it’s the end of the month, I thought it would be the perfect time do my July Favorites. This month was so busy for me and I feel like it flew by, but I did manage to put together a pretty good mix of favorites.

Starting with beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my July BoxyCharm box, and I’ll link that post below if you haven’t read it. My first Boxy favorite is the BellaPierre Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner in Black. I’ve been using this quite a bit and I like it a lot. It has a tapered and flexible tip so you can easily do a really bold or a really thin line. It has great staying power, once it dries down it’s there all day and I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a new liner.

My last Boxy favorite is the Mudmasky Vitamin-Infused Eye Serum. This is a Vitamin C serum for your under eye that nourishes, moisturizes, and firms the skin along with helping to reduce dark circles. I’ve been using this pretty much since I got it because I was intrigued by it and I’ve been seeing Mudmasky everywhere recently, and I can honestly say that I’m really liking it. I’m starting to be able to see a slight difference from before I started using it to now and that’s a very good thing. This is a product I would definitely recommend giving a try.

And my last beauty favorite is the lip liner and lipstick combo I wore yesterday for National Lipstick Day. I looked back at some of my pictures from National Lipstick Day from the past couple years and found it funny that without realizing it, I’ve been doing very different colors every year. What I wanted to do yesterday, because I already had my eyeshadow look done when I realized and was going to do it anyway, it something in the nude/brown area. So what I went with is the Model Co Lip Enhancer Illusion Nude Lip Liner and the Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick in Bombshell. It’s one of my favorite combos for a nude/brown lip and I love the Huda liquid lipsticks, the formula is really nice and you get incredible pigmentation and color payoff.

Moving on to a more random favorite, there is a squirrel that’s been hanging around my backyard for a while, getting more and more bold as he does, and recently he’s been coming up on my deck and chilling, so I’ve started feeding him and I think it’s adorable. He’s a cute little guy and to his credit has only tried to come in house once. And the funny thing is multiple of my neighbors have had similar instances with squirrels over the years, so I’m not surprised this happened.

And my last favorite is a music favorite, actually it’s a couple of songs. This month a lot of good songs came out that I’m enjoying. Little Mix and Anne-Marie’s song is a bop. Bonamassa’s new song is great, I hope that the rest of the album, assuming there will be an album, will follow along the same vibe because that would be nice to hear. And Eric Clapton has released a couple of songs from his 50th anniversary album and I’m liking them a lot. There’s a lot of songs on there that I either don’t know if I’ve listened to, haven’t heard in ages, or just really like and am enjoying like always. If you haven’t given any of these a listen, I definitely recommend doing so.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we had any of the same favorites let me know and if not, I’d love to know what your July favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great July :).

June Favorites

Hi everyone,

As it’s the end of the month I thought it would be the perfect time to do my June Favorites. I have a good mix of favorites this month, so let’s get into it.

Starting with beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my June BoxyCharm box, and if you haven’t read that yet I’ll link it below. My first Boxy favorite is the Touch In Sol Pretty Filter Glowdient Makeup Palette. This is a multi use face palette with a gradient shades to bronze, blush and highlight. My first impression of this palette is that it was gorgeous and after using it, it truly is gorgeous. All of the shades are super pigmented and when it hits the light, it becomes one of the best highlighters I’ve used. I definitely recommend giving this palette a try.

And my last Boxy favorite and last beauty favorite, is the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in 2489, Famous Red. Nars lip pencils are some of my favorite lip products, I have a few in different shades, and this one is so good. This has a non drying, long lasting formula with Vitamin E and emollients that make it creamy and give you seamless matte color for hours. This red in particular is not too deep or too bright but it’s a vivid color with just enough richness.

Moving on to a couple a random favorites, these two kind of go together. Now that we’re in summer the weather has gotten nicer, but over the last couple days we had a really unusually warm heatwave, 100+ degrees heatwave, and having air conditioning really helped. Another thing that helped, because I was hydrating and drinking so much water, was Body Armor. I like it more than Gatorade for hydrating, it has coconut water in it and doesn’t leave behind that cloying sweetness that Gatorade sometimes can. They also have a ton of flavors and different sizes, so you’re guaranteed to find something you like.

And my last favorite is a music favorite. This month it’s the Queen and Paul Rodgers Return Of The Champions concert. I have the album version of this on Spotify and I listen to it all the time, but I recently rediscovered the DVD version and it’s such a good concert. I think that the collaboration with Paul Rodgers is the best that Queen has done, their styles and voices go together so well, it just feels like a natural fit. I also have to say, because it does get forgotten, that Roger Taylor has a really nice singing voice. I definitely recommend giving this a watch and a listen if you haven’t, it’s a lot of fun.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we have any of the same favorites this month let me know and if not I’d love to know what your June favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great June :).
