Summer and other bits haul

Hi everyone,

Today I’m going to be doing a haul. Over the past month/month and a half I’ve been doing a little shopping and picked up some fun bits and pieces that I’m excited about, so let’s get into it.

Starting with fashion, spring in the Pacific Northwest has been very cold and rainy it’s basically an extension of winter with a small handful of nice days thrown in so far. So when I do go shopping I’ve been buying for mainly summer and the first thing I bought is a black and white polka dot dress from H&M. If I can find a link for this and any other item I will put down below. I don’t normally wear a lot of dresses, I have one in my wardrobe that I really love to wear in the summer and I have a couple for dressier occasions, but that’s about it. But when I saw this one I really liked it so I went for it and I’m glad I did. The fit is fantastic and it’s one of those dresses that is super versatile. It can easily be worn as is, dressed up or dressed down.

Next I went to Forever 21 where I picked up two things and the first is a pair of shorts. Recently I’ve really been liking floral patterns and one of the things I like about these shorts is the pattern isn’t overwhelming.

And the other thing I picked up is a pair of white with black polka dot flip flops. I wear a lot of flip flops during the summer so I’m always buying new pairs.

Moving on to beauty, you guys know how the e.l.f. Moisturizing Lipstick in Red Carpet is one of my favorites, well, I went to put mine on last week and it broke. Having a lipstick break is always an inconvenience so I picked up another one.

The last beauty item I purchased is the Bath and Body Works Pineapple Colada Gentle Exfoliating Hand Soap with Monoi Oil. I cannot even tell you how good this smells, it’s the perfect summer smell. I hadn’t really looked into the Bath and Body Works hand soaps before but I definitely recommend them.

Second to last we have two practical things, both from Amazon. The first is an Anker phone charging cable. This is just the basic three foot cable, but Anker is a great brand for all cables/cords or anything else you might need.

And the second item is a wallet. I had my old wallet forever and kept saying that I was going to get a new one but never did. It finally quit and I couldn’t keep it closed. I found this one kind of by accident but it’s absolutely perfect. It’s turquoise with a gold bow and gold hardware and it has a ton of room on the inside.

And lastly we have the thing that I’m probably the most excited about in this whole haul. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but one of my hobbies is coin/currency collecting and I’m always on the lookout for new things to add to my collection. I was on Etsy looking for a birthday present for my dad and I came across this shop called Coin Corner and was immediately interested. I ended up finding a present for my dad, I got him a wheat penny from his birth year, and I found a steel penny from 1943 which I knew I had to have. I knew steel pennies existed but I had never seen or held one, so I did buy it and I’m so happy with it. I think it’s the coolest thing.

That about wraps it up for this post, I always like doing hauls so look out for more of them in the future.

Until next time, have fun shopping and I can’t wait for warmer weather :).

Father’s Day gift guide 2017

Hi everyone,

This week because Father’s Day is coming up I thought I would do a gift guide. I have always found it really easy to buy presents for my dad. But I know it’s not that way for a lot of people. And whether it’s that way for you or you’re just stuck for an idea this Father’s Day, I hope this post is helpful for you. I have a number of categories, and I will have a link down below to the things that I mention.

So the first thing is a Father’s Day classic and that’s anything in the area of grilling. I don’t think there’s a dad that doesn’t love to grill during a sunny summer weekend, or even during a rainy weekend. A set of grilling implements, an apron and anything like that is always a solid and probably safe bet. My dad is more into smoking than grilling right now, and most times when we have family get togethers he’s smoking some sort of meat and it’s delicious. If you’re going to go that route Masterbuillt is the best brand. Their products are top quality.

Next we have the personal care. I’ve always found that pretty much most men need and use a razor, so that’s always a good present. Along that same vein, cologne, lotions and products like that are good.

Pretty much one thing that never misses, doesn’t matter the event is gift cards. Everyone loves them and it takes the stress away of having to buy the perfect present.

One thing that pretty much everyone uses is some sort of streaming service. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc. Subscriptions to services like that are like gift cards. They have something for everyone.

Next up is a dad classic, tools. There is always a need for tools, in every household. Screw drivers, saws, drills. All always needed.

One of my favorite things to do with my dad is watch sports and talk (occasionally argue) about it. I, like my dad, am a huge Mariners and Seahawks fan so anytime either of us see anything Seahawks or Mariners related that the other would like we buy it. So if your dad is a sports fan any kind of jersey or knick knack type thing will be a hit. Especially if you can find anything signed by his favorite player or players.

I have two things left on my list and the second to last is anything related to technology. I know that technology isn’t everyone’s forte, but for the technology lover, Bluetooth speakers, drones, you can’t go wrong. I personally really want a drone, but haven’t bought one yet. Maybe I’ll buy one for my dad and “borrow it”.

And lastly, anything personalized is always a hit on Father’s Day. Cups, plaques, anything you can think of you can personalize. I’ve found that a personalized gift usually draws a couple of tears. And is always appreciated.

That about wraps it up for this post. Like I mentioned at the beginning of this, hopefully this post is helpful to you guys and you find something that your dad will love.

Until next time, I hope you find something and have a Happy Father’s Day :).

What I got for Christmas/2016 wrap-up

Hi everyone,

This week I wanted to talk about some of the things that I got for Christmas, I’m not trying to brag or anything like that, I genuinely like reading/ watching things like this so I thought that I would do one, and I want to do a sort of 2016 wrap-up. I originally wasn’t going to post before the end of the year, but I figured why not. So I’m only including a few of the things I got for Christmas because I have a whole other post planned for the rest of them. So starting off in the area of beauty, the first thing is a couple of Bath and Body Works products. Bath and Body Works is a store that I absolutely love and I’m always buying things in there. Starting on the left, it’s a Vanilla Bean Noel hand sanitizer. I love these hand sanitizers and I have one in every handbag. I’ve always like this scent, it kind of reminds me of the Betty Crocker vanilla frosting my mom would frost cakes with when I was a kid. The next is Warm Vanilla Sugar 24 hour moisture ultra shea body lotion. This is my favorite of the vanilla scents. I think it has a brown sugary undertone, so it’s not overpowering and I love that it’s 24 hour moisture. Definitely recommend it. And the last is the Winter White Woods hand sanitizer. I had never smelled this scent before, but it has quickly become one of my favorites. It smells like coconut, but it also has a masculine undertone. Almost like a fresh man and it blends together nicely. It also leaves a nice sparkle behind after you use it.

The next thing is the Too Faced Melted Merry Kissmas The Ultimate Liquified Lipstick Set. I love Too Faced and I’ve been wanting to try some of their melted lipsticks for a while, but never got around to ordering any.

So far I’ve worn three of the four and I’m really happy with them.

So starting on the top we have Chocolate Honey. I would say in the past year I’ve been wearing more nude and brown toned lipsticks, and I really liked this one. Plus it smells like chocolate which is amazing. The second one is Chihuahua. It is in that nudey/brown mix and it looked different when I put it on my lips than it does on my hand, I should’ve taken a picture. But the next time I wear it I’ll post on to my Instagram. The third lipstick is the one I haven’t worn yet and that is Fig. It has nice berry tones, so I’m excited to wear it because I don’t wear a lot of berry toned lipsticks, but if I like this one I probably will. And the last one is matte and it’s in the shade Lady Balls. I’ve mentioned before that I tend to be picky with the red lipsticks I wear, but I like this one a lot. It’s slightly darker than what I usually go for, but it’s a definite keeper. It’s quick drying and it doesn’t feel like all the moisture is being taken out of my lips like it can with matte lipsticks. Overall I really like the formulation of these melted lipsticks and now I want to try all of the colors.

The last beauty thing I don’t have a picture of, but my sister gifted me with an Ipsy subscription. This is something that I probably wouldn’t buy for myself, but I’m excited about it because I love trying new products and I’ll definitely be talking about it come 2017.

So moving on to clothing, we have some Seahawks gear because it isn’t Christmas at my house without something Seahawks related. So the first thing is a Kam Chancellor shirt. Kam is one of my favorite players and he’s a beast, so I’m happy to wear this shirt. It has his number which is 31 on the front and the back and his last name on the back.

The next thing is a hat. I don’t have enough wintery hats so when I saw this one I instantly loved it and knew I had to have it. It’s a dark blue with silver running through it, it has the white pom pom on the top and the Seahawks logo on the front. It’s also knitted and incredibly soft.

The next thing is something that most people get every year and that is a calendar. This one in particular is a Beatles calendar and I love it. What I like about this one besides the pictures is that the dates are on what looks like sheet music and each month is a different song title.

So the second to last thing is a selfie stick. I was 100% one of those people who said how ridiculous they are and how I would never use one. But earlier in the month I was at a family event and couldn’t fit everyone in the picture, no one had long enough arms. But I never said it out loud, so it was kind of a surprise to me but I kinda love it. And I can see myself using it in the future.

And the last thing is something that I’m so happy about and that is new slippers. In the past I hadn’t really worn slippers a lot, but this winter has been so cold I’ve been wearing them every day and needed a new pair. These are from Dearfoams and they are the best slippers. They are lined with fur on the outside and a little on the inside where you put your foot in. I can honestly say these are the most comfortable slippers I’ve ever owned. It’s like walking on a pillow. I honestly recommend them as a brand if you’re looking for new slippers.

That wraps it up for the What I got for Christmas part. So now I want to talk about 2016 a little bit. And honestly, I want to thank every single person who read, liked, commented, followed and took the time to look at my blog. It means so much to me and I really appreciate it and it makes me a little emotional. I’m looking forward to 2017 and I’ve already started planning future blog posts. I think it’s going to be a great year.

Until next time, thank you again for all the support and I’ll see you in 2017 :).

I want your input

Hi everyone,

This isn’t the typical blog post, but rather something I want your opinion on. I’ve been wanting to do a Q&A for a while now, and I want to know how you guys want me to do it. What I’m thinking is I can do the traditional blog post where you send me your questions and I write out my answers, or I could do a livestream on YouTube. Let me know what you guys think and remember to send in questions. The questions can be about anything you want, so don’t think it has to be solely about makeup and beauty. Anyway, let me know what you guys think :).

Everyday Essentials

Hi everyone,

I was going through my purse recently and I noticed that there were things in there that I was using everyday and after a while, had become essentials. The first thing I always have in my bag is snacks.

I drink a lot of water throughout the day, so I always have a bottle of water. I’ve been trying to eat healthy more recently, so today I had a Kashi Honey Almond Flax chewy granola bar, a Kashi Trail Mix chewy granola bar, and some all natural lightly salted pumpkin seeds. I had the pumpkin seeds in a little Ziploc bag, but I put them in the container so I could snack while I wrote this :). I like to change up the snacks I keep, so if I don’t eat something I put it back in the box and switch it out for something else.

The next thing I always have is my makeup bag.

This bag is from Forever 21 and I bought the matching compact mirror. I believe this bag and mirror also comes in pink, but I liked the black more. Depending on what makeup I’m wearing, what I have in the bag varies. Today I had my e.l.f. HD Powder, the e.l.f. Blush Palette in Light, e.l.f. Powder Brush, my eyeliner which is the Maybelline Expert Wear in Velvet Black, and two of the Hard Candy All Glossed Up Lip Stains, the nudey brown and the bright pink that I was wearing in my post A Little Bit of Everything, and a Bath and Body Works hand sanitizer in Beautiful Day.

The next essential is a lotion. I’m someone who in the winter my hands tend to get dry so I constantly have a ton of different hand creams and lotions.

This lotion in particular I got for Christmas, have been using since and will soon be repurchasing. It’s the Bronzed Amber Obsession from Bodycology. I am obsessed with the smell of this. This one is travel size so I need to buy the full size and out of the lotions I’ve used recently this one makes my hands the softest.

Next we have a bit of stationary.

In every purse I carry I always have writing utensils and a notebook/ notepad. This particular notebook I use mostly to jot down any blog ideas I may have throughout the day. It says Some people dream of success others make it happen and it’s from the Vintage Dreams Collection by Pink Light Design. When it comes to writing utensils, I always have a lot of different options. Mechanical pencils, highlighters, this particular highlighter is by Sharpie and I really likes these ones because they don’t smear and they come in fun colors. Pen wise, I have mostly black and blue, but I also have a pack of the Paper Mate InkJoy pens. To be honest, I probably use the InkJoy’s the most because the pack I bought had all the different colors and sometimes you want to write in hot pink or bright blue.

The last couple of things are probably the most vital, and that’s the electronics.

The first thing is my headphones. These are just the standard Apple headphones but I really like them. They don’t take up a lot of space, they fit perfectly in my ears and based on what you have your EQ set on, there’s an alright amount of bass in them. The last item is my portable phone charger. This is the Red Fuel SL4 series Fuel Pack from Schumacher Electric. This is the 4200mAh Lithium Ion Fuel Pack and out of the three you can buy this is the one in the middle. These come in six different colors but I got the blue because it’s my favorite color. What I like about this charger is it’s lightweight, it doesn’t take up a lot of space, if you really wanted to you could stick it in your pants pocket, you can take it on an airplane and it can charge any device. Schumacher Electric has a ton of great products, I have one of their battery chargers, so I’ll leave the link down below. If you read my last post, this is the same Schumacher as Don Schumacher Racing in NHRA Drag Racing.

I quite enjoyed writing this, because it gave me a reason to dig through my purse and clean out some of the crap :).I also wanted to note that even though I didn’t include it I carry my wallet and keys everyday, and my wallet is from Forever 21.

Until next time, never forget an essential and if you can help it, remember to clean out your purse :).
