May favorites

Hi everyone,

Today, as it’s the 31st, I thought I would do my May favorites. This month feels like it flew by, I can’t believe tomorrow is June 1st. I have a pretty good mix of stuff this month, so let’s get into it.

Starting off with beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my May Sephora Play Box and I will leave a link to that below if you haven’t read it. The theme this month was Beauty Goals. This month marked two years of Sephora Play, so they chose products that were beloved and have stood the test of time. My first favorite is the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Trooper. I’m always down to try a new eyeliner and I really like this one. The applicator is thin so you get a really precise and clean line and it doesn’t smudge or transfer. I would definitely recommend it.

MSP6

My next favorite is the Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara in Noir. This mascara is supposed to give your lashes mega volume without clumping and it does just that. I’m kind of picky with my mascaras and I have two that I already love and use, Too Faced Better Than Sex and Essence Cosmetics I Love Crazy Volume, but I really, really like this. It makes my lashes look a mile long and this will be a fixture in my makeup bag for the foreseeable future.

MSP5

And my last Sephora Play favorite is the YSL Black Opium perfume. I can’t even tell you how freaking good this smells. It’s very well balanced, it’s a mix of sweet, fresh and there’s a warmth to it. I would definitely say to smell this if you get the chance.

MSP7

My next favorite is a nail polish and it’s Sinful Colors 1702, Hush Money. It’s a metallic rose and it’s beautiful.

MYF2

MYF3

Moving on, I have a food favorite and it’s David sunflower seeds, the ranch flavor. I’ve always loved seeds, and around this time of year I always have them in the pantry. I love them for not only watching and playing baseball but they’re a great snack period.

From food we go to racing. My racing favorite this month was the Indy 500. I’ve watched the 500 since I can remember, it’s one of my favorite Memorial Day weekend traditions. This was the 102nd running and it was incredibly exciting. Will Power ended up winning and I’m really happy for him, his family and Team Penske. Winning this race is a big deal and no small feat.

My second to last favorite is probably the most random thing in here and it’s Goop. If you don’t know, Goop is a multipurpose hand cleaner. My dad has always sworn by this, saying it works the best and it’s the only one you’ll ever need. And it is the only thing I use when I’m in the garage working on cars and my hands are just filthy. I’ve tried others, but in the end I came back to Goop. It’s not harsh on your hands, it smells good and it does a phenomenal job of removing the layers of whatever is on your hands so you’re not scrubbing with soap forever. It also gets stains out of clothes, over the weekend I got grease on my favorite pair of jeans and it got it right out.

MYF1

And my last favorite is a music favorite and it’s the Cream 2005 Reunion Concert it took place at Royal Albert Hall, May 2-3-5-6. Cream consists of Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce (RIP) and Ginger Baker. They were one of the first rock supergroups, and while they weren’t around for very long originally, conflicts between Bruce and Baker, they made a huge impact. And around the time leading up to this concert there had been some things happen and it made Clapton think that they should get back together and put the past behind them before it was too late. And they did just that. I have both the DVD and CD versions of the concert and it is fantastic. It’s one of those things I can watch over and over, some of my favorite songs are Cream songs, and it makes me smile every time.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we had any of the same favorites this month let me know and if not, I’d love to know what your May favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great May :).

May Sephora Play unboxing

Hi everyone,

Today I’m going to be unboxing my May Sephora Play Box. This month marks the two year anniversary of Sephora Play and with that in mind they chose the theme Beauty Goals. The products that were selected have been well loved and have stuck around. Basically there is no bad product. The bag itself is denim with red and white rope drawstrings and it says ‘Play!’ on the front in white lettering. I love the rope detail and the vintage/Americana feel of it.

MSP1

So the first product we have is the Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo. I have actually used this before and I loved it. It smells great, you get a nice volume from it and it doesn’t leave a residue like some dry shampoos can.

MSP2

The next product is the Sephora Collection Mud Mask Purifying and Mattifying. This mask has zinc and copper and is supposed to reduce blemishes without completely drying out your skin. I really like the sound of that, so I can’t wait to try it.

MSP3

Up next we have a classic of classics, Benefit the POREfessional Face Primer. This not only minimizes pores but it helps to control shine and keep you looking shine free all day. I love Benefit, this is a product I’ve used before and can’t wait to use again.

MSP4

Moving on, we have the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Trooper. I’ve always been a fan of Kat Von D Beauty, she has some amazing things in her range but beyond using a couple of her brushes and swatching some of the lipsticks I hadn’t really tried anything, so I’m excited to try this out. I’m always trying new eyeliners and I’ll definitely let you know what I think.

MSP6

The second to last product is Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara in Noir. I have two mascaras that I rotate between, Too Faced Better Than Sex and Essence Cosmetics I Love Crazy Volume and I like the volume that they give. This is supposed to give lashes mega volume, so I’m interested to see how it compares. I’ll of course let you guys know.

MSP5

And last up we have the bonus product, this month it’s YSL Black Opium perfume. I can’t even tell you how good this smells. It’s the perfect blend of sweet with a hint of freshness and warmth. I will most definitely be purchasing a full size bottle of this and if you haven’t smelled this and you’re at a Sephora or any other store that sells it give it a smell. I should mention that it looks a little funny in the picture because on this small bottle you break the top off to open it and to close it you flip the top around and use it as a stopper. It’s a great and innovative design.

MSP7

That about wraps it up for this post, if you guys got any of the same products in your May Play Boxes let me know and if not I’d love to know what you did get.

Until next time, enjoy your products and I can’t wait to see what I get next month :).

April favorites

Hi everyone,

I want to start off by saying happy May, here’s to a great month. And secondly, I know I’m a little bit late, but today I’m going to be doing my April favorites. I have some good things this month, so let’s get into it.

Starting with beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my April Play Box from Sephora, if you haven’t yet read it I will link it below. The theme was Insta Beauty, a range of products that help you to be camera ready in no time. My first favorite is the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Pressed Poreless Finish Airbrush Pressed Powder. I’ve been using this since I got it, I rotate between this and my Tarte Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder, and I really like it. It does a great job of not only setting my foundation and concealer, but it keeps shine away. I definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a new powder.

ASP2

My next beauty favorite is the Peter Thomas Roth Skin to Die For No Filter Mattifying Primer and Complexion Perfector. I was excited to try this because I’m loving everything Peter Thomas Roth at the moment, seriously if you need anything skincare, check them out. But I have a little area on my face that I always take the time to cover more heavily with foundation and concealer, but with this I found myself not having to do that as much. It really does blur the imperfections and I definitely like that.

ASP4

My second to last beauty favorite, and last Sephora Play favorite is the Urban Decay Hi-fi Shine Ultra Cushion Lipgloss in SPL. I loved this from the minute I saw it, it’s not only gorgeous but the scent, vanilla mint, was the scent of one of my first ever glosses and it brought back memories. Since then I’ve worn it two different ways, on it’s own when I was having a makeup free day but wanted something more than a lip balm and over the top of a matte lipstick. It was great in both applications.

ASP6

My last beauty favorite is from the haul I did a few weeks ago, which I’ll link below, and it’s the Bath and Body Works Pineapple Colada Gentle Exfoliating Hand Soap with Monoi Oil. Prior to purchasing this I hadn’t ever looked into the Bath and Body Works had soaps, but I’m happy with this one. The scent is dead on but not overpowering and it’s perfect for spring and summer.

SPH5

Moving on I have a couple of food and drink favorites. My food favorite is the Mint Chip Brownie Larabar. I always keep a bar of some sort in my handbag, snacks are important, so I like to try different brands. I like that Larabars are made with a few quality ingredients and that they have a lot of different flavors. And mint chocolate is one of my favorite flavor combinations so it was an instant winner.

And my drink favorite is the Celestial Seasonings Decaf India Spice Chai Tea. I’m not typically a huge decaf person, but with the extended winter we had, I was craving a cup of tea in the evenings before bed and this really hit the spot. I love chai anyway and this has now become a permanent fixture in my tea cupboard.

My second to last favorite is a couple of coins. I collect coins and currency and I’m always excited when I find new pieces. I purchased all of the coins from CoinCorner on Etsy, they are great. Definitely check them out if you’re in the market for coins. The first one was a birthday present for my dad and it’s a penny from his birth year and the second was a 1943 steel penny. I had always heard about steel pennies but had never seen one so I jumped on it and I’m so happy I did. I also may or may not have bought another penny the other day. I forgot to take a picture of it, but it’s a wheat penny from 1944. World War II era is one of favorites in history and I find things from that time really cool and interesting.

SPH9

SPH10

My last favorite is a music favorite. A little bit of backstory, I was recently helping my dad move some furniture and he had some music playing. I knew that I had heard it before but couldn’t place it so I asked him what it was and he went and got the CD case, because some things just sound better on CD, and it was Montrose, their first album. When I was growing up my dad would play this album in his car and that’s the last time I had heard it until now. Having listened to it again all the way through, it really is a fantastic album and I would definitely recommend listening to it if you never have. I know it’s on YouTube and iTunes.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we had any of the same favorites in April let me know, and if not I’d love to know what your favorites were.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great April :).

April Sephora Play unboxing

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I received my April Sephora Play Box and thought that today would be the perfect day to go through it. The theme for this month is Insta Beauty. It’s all about products that have you camera ready in no time. The bag itself captures that perfectly. It’s a white canvas bag with green drawstrings, purple lettering and it says ‘Make It Snappy’. The weather has also been absolutely amazing the past couple days and it gave me the opportunity to take these photos outside, which made me really happy.

ASP1

The first product we have is the Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Rescue Mask, Seaweed Radiance Facial. This is a five minute facial that uses seaweed, red algae and lotus seed to get rid of dry skin and bring back the glow to your skin. I love things like this, so I can’t wait to try it.

ASP3

The second product is the Peter Thomas Roth Skin to Die For No Filter Mattifying Primer and Complexion Perfector. Much like other primers you put this on before your foundation and concealer, although you can wear this on it’s own, but this also helps to reduce the look of pores and basically blur any imperfections your skin may have. I’m loving all things Peter Thomas Roth right now, so I’ll let you know what I think of this.

ASP4

Moving on we have the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Perfector in #6. I’ve always heard great things about the Make Up For Ever foundations and this is in that small little section between foundation and BB cream. It’s a skin tint with an SPF, in this case of 25. Based on the initial swatch I did it appeared to be very buildable and I would guess you’re going to get a light to medium coverage. I’m definitely interested by this.

ASP5

Next is the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Pressed Poreless Finish Airbrush Pressed Powder. It’s a translucent pressed finishing powder that is supposed to reduce the look of pores and keep away oils so you don’t look shiny. I put this on this morning and so far I’m really liking it. Not only did it set my foundation and concealer, but I would have had no problem just going out like that and not even bothering with contour or anything else. I definitely recommend it.

ASP2

Second to last we have the Urban Decay Hi-fi Shine Ultra Cushion Lipgloss in SPL. These are new and the pictures I’ve been seeing on Instagram and Twitter of different shades are so pretty, so I was excited when I saw this. There are 20 different shades, including SPL and after this I will be placing an order. This one specifically is a really pretty light pink shade with a ton of pink, blue and green sparkles. When it hits the light it’s really something else. When I swatched it I was expecting it to be like other glosses, where it’s a little bit tacky and that is one of my least favorite things about gloss, but it wasn’t. And it smells absolutely amazing. It’s a mix of vanilla and mint, which is one of my favorite smells and was the scent of one of my first ever lip glosses so it brings back a lot of memories.

ASP6

And the last product, the bonus product, is a Miu Miu perfume in L’eau Rosee. I would describe this as a fresh scent. It’s a little floral but also a little fruity. And it reminds me of something but I can’t remember what, which is annoying. But if it comes to me I’ll mention it.

ASP7

That about wraps it up for this post, if you guys got any of the same products in your April Play Boxes let me know and if not I’d love to know what you did get.

Until next time, enjoy your products and I can’t wait to see what I get next month :).

Summer and other bits haul

Hi everyone,

Today I’m going to be doing a haul. Over the past month/month and a half I’ve been doing a little shopping and picked up some fun bits and pieces that I’m excited about, so let’s get into it.

Starting with fashion, spring in the Pacific Northwest has been very cold and rainy it’s basically an extension of winter with a small handful of nice days thrown in so far. So when I do go shopping I’ve been buying for mainly summer and the first thing I bought is a black and white polka dot dress from H&M. If I can find a link for this and any other item I will put down below. I don’t normally wear a lot of dresses, I have one in my wardrobe that I really love to wear in the summer and I have a couple for dressier occasions, but that’s about it. But when I saw this one I really liked it so I went for it and I’m glad I did. The fit is fantastic and it’s one of those dresses that is super versatile. It can easily be worn as is, dressed up or dressed down.

SPH1

Next I went to Forever 21 where I picked up two things and the first is a pair of shorts. Recently I’ve really been liking floral patterns and one of the things I like about these shorts is the pattern isn’t overwhelming.

SPH2

And the other thing I picked up is a pair of white with black polka dot flip flops. I wear a lot of flip flops during the summer so I’m always buying new pairs.

SPH3

Moving on to beauty, you guys know how the e.l.f. Moisturizing Lipstick in Red Carpet is one of my favorites, well, I went to put mine on last week and it broke. Having a lipstick break is always an inconvenience so I picked up another one.

SPH6

SPH7

The last beauty item I purchased is the Bath and Body Works Pineapple Colada Gentle Exfoliating Hand Soap with Monoi Oil. I cannot even tell you how good this smells, it’s the perfect summer smell. I hadn’t really looked into the Bath and Body Works hand soaps before but I definitely recommend them.

SPH5

Second to last we have two practical things, both from Amazon. The first is an Anker phone charging cable. This is just the basic three foot cable, but Anker is a great brand for all cables/cords or anything else you might need.

And the second item is a wallet. I had my old wallet forever and kept saying that I was going to get a new one but never did. It finally quit and I couldn’t keep it closed. I found this one kind of by accident but it’s absolutely perfect. It’s turquoise with a gold bow and gold hardware and it has a ton of room on the inside.

SPH4

And lastly we have the thing that I’m probably the most excited about in this whole haul. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but one of my hobbies is coin/currency collecting and I’m always on the lookout for new things to add to my collection. I was on Etsy looking for a birthday present for my dad and I came across this shop called Coin Corner and was immediately interested. I ended up finding a present for my dad, I got him a wheat penny from his birth year, and I found a steel penny from 1943 which I knew I had to have. I knew steel pennies existed but I had never seen or held one, so I did buy it and I’m so happy with it. I think it’s the coolest thing.

SPH9

SPH10

That about wraps it up for this post, I always like doing hauls so look out for more of them in the future.

Until next time, have fun shopping and I can’t wait for warmer weather :).

Four easy makeup looks and OOTD’s- March-April 2018

Hi everyone,

Today I’m going to be doing one of my favorite posts, four of my recent makeup looks and the outfits that went with them. Normally I would do three, but I couldn’t decide between two of them so I added them both. And with that being said, let’s get into it.

The first look is from St. Patrick’s Day. Outfit wise I was wearing a blue and green plaid shirt with a black, cami style bodysuit underneath and a pair of dark wash skinny jeans. I can’t remember where the shirt is from, I’ve had it for a little while, but the bodysuit is from Forever 21 and I think the jeans are from Macy’s but I’ve had them forever.

OOTDM1

OOTDM1a

Starting with my face, after I do my morning routine I start with my foundation, which is the L’Oreal Paris true match super-blendable foundation in the shade N2, Classic Ivory. With that I use the matching concealer in N 1-2-3 Fair/Light and on the spots I want heavier coverage the YADAH Silky Fit Concealer BB Power Brightening in Light Beige and I blend that in with a Micro Mini Beauty Blender. I top all of that with the Tarte Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder and apply that with the e.l.f. powder brush. Bronzer wise I use the bronzer in the e.l.f. blush palette in light, top right in the palette on the left, I used the Firma Beauty 103 Angled Contour brush to apply and the blush I used is the one on the bottom left from the palette on the right and to finish off my face I used the Dashing Through The Glow highlighter from the Too Faced Super Fun Night palette which is from the Too Faced Best Year Ever makeup collection. And I use an e.l.f. fan brush to apply that.

OOTDM1b

Moving on to eyes, I went with a simple brown shadow look. I really like to wear brown eyeshadows, I have green eyes and it tends to make them pop. For the shadow I went to the Too Faced Natural Beauty palette and picked Sleigh My Name. It’s a nice medium/dark brown with a bit of a shimmer. I applied that with a Bare Escentuals eyeshadow brush and I blended it out with a Skone Cosmetics blending brush. In the inner corner of my eyes and under my brows I used Angelic from the same palette. Mascara wise, I used Too Faced Better Than Sex, it’s one of my absolute favorite mascaras. Using an angled brush, I filled in my eyebrows with Too Faced Up in Smoke and I finished the whole look off with the Sephora Collection Rouge Matte Lipstick in Rebel Chic.

My second look is one that I wouldn’t normally add because it’s filtered but I really like it and the vintage feel it has. For the OOTD part of this I was wearing a white scoop neck shirt, which I believe is from Forever 21, the necklace I’m wearing is also from Forever 21, it’s a gold chain. I was also wearing really light washing skinny jeans, which are from Kohl’s.

OOTDM2

OOTDM1a

For my face, everything is the same as the last look.

OOTDM2a

I really like to play around with gold shadows, so this is one of my favorite looks. For the base shadow I used the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Color in Rose Gold, not only is this shadow gorgeous but it’s highly pigmented. On top of that, mostly in the crease, I used a darker gold and blended it with my finger. In the inner corner and under my brows I used Angelic. The eyeliner that I used was the Pixi by Petra Endless Silky Eye Pen in BlackNoir. The mascara is Essence Cosmetics I Love Crazy Volume in Deep Black, this is a great mascara it makes your lashes look really thick and defined. As always I filled in my brows with Up in Smoke and finished it all off with one of my favorite liquid lipsticks, the Caked Makeup Lip Fondant in Low Key. It smells like cake batter.

My second to last look is from Opening Day, one of my favorite days in March. My jersey is from the Mariners Team Store and my jeans are new and they are from Kohl’s.

OOTDM3

OOTDM3a

I changed up the blush in this look and the one I used is the Seraphine Botanicals Lychee + Gold Healthy Glow Rose-Gold Blush.

OOTDM3b

This is a really simple look. Eyeshadow is from the Too Faced palette on the far left, it’s this shimmery emerald shadow and I only wear it a couple times a year and Opening Day is one of those days. It is really pretty though. I put White Lie in the inner corner and under my brows, used the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara on my lashes and Up in Smoke for my brows. And finally I used the MDMflow Liquid Matte Lipstick in Retro.

And my last look is from Easter. This is a better look at the new jeans I was talking about and the shirt is also new and it’s from Buckle. I love the pattern and the bell sleeves and it’s open in the back which is a great surprise when you turn around.

OOTDM4

OOTDM1a

For this look I went back to how I normally do my face, but I did make a change to my morning routine, I did it with the last look to and I added in the Bobbi Brown Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm. You put it on before you do your makeup and it illuminates your skin and gives it an extra oomph.

OOTDM4a

For this look I wanted something light and springy and I think I achieved that, I’m really happy with the way it came out. For the shadow itself I used the Hikari Cosmetics Cream Pigment in Honey Dew. It’s a gorgeous light pink and it is highly pigmented. I used Angelic in the inner corner and under my brows, the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Intense Black, the Essence Cosmetics mascara on my lashes and Up in Smoke on my brows. And to top it all off I used the EM Cosmetics Infinite Lip Cloud in Rose Nude.

That about wraps it up for this post, I really like doing posts like this, so look out for more in the future.

Until next time, have fun with your looks and take as many OOTD pictures as possible :).

March favorites

Hi everyone,

Today I’m going to be doing my March favorites. It’s crazy how fast March went by but here we are and I think I have a good mix this month, so let’s get into it.

Starting with beauty, I have a couple of favorites from my March Sephora Play Box, which I will link below if you haven’t read yet. The first is the bag itself, It’s blue tie dye and it says ‘Beauty Is My Spirit Animal’ in white lettering and it has dark blue drawstrings. The theme for this month was Festival of Beauty and it really came through with both the design and the products.

MPB1

My next beauty favorite is the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner. This eye liner is absolutely fantastic and I can 100% understand why so many people love it. This is definitely going to be staple in my makeup bag.

MPB5

My second to last beauty favorite is the Amika Nourishing Mask. I used this in my hair two days ago and I’m really happy with it. Not only does it smell amazing, but it has made my hair extra soft. Definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a good hair mask.

MPB7

And my last beauty favorite is the Bobbi Brown Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm. You put this on before you put your makeup on and it gives your skin a little extra oomph and brightness. I didn’t know if I would like this, but I really do.

MPB2

Moving on, I have a couple of food favorites, the first is Tim’s Cascade Chips. I’m not someone who eats chips a lot but if I’m craving them Tim’s is what I go for.  The flavor that’s in my pantry right now is the Original Lightly Salted, but all the flavors are great.

My next food favorite is Kinder Joy. I watch a lot of British YouTubers and I always see them eating Kinder Eggs and Kinder chocolate and I’ve always wanted to try it but I knew the eggs were banned in America. So when I saw Kinder Joy in Albertsons I was really surprised but I picked one up and the chocolate was really good. And in Kinder Eggs you get a little toy, so they would make a great addition to Easter baskets.

And my last food favorite is actually a drink and it’s Sprite Cranberry. Sprite is my favorite soda and I do really like cranberries and the cranberry flavor and this didn’t disappoint. It was refreshing and the cranberry was just right.

My next favorite is Major League Baseball. Yesterday was Opening Day for baseball and I could not be happier that it’s back. It’s my favorite sport and I’m excited to cheer on my Mariners. Game 1 certainly was exciting and I can’t wait for the rest of the remaining 161 games. I think they’re going to have a great season.

I have a TV show favorite this month and it’s The Curse of Civil War Gold on History Channel. It’s along the same vein as The Curse of Oak Island, which is one of my top five favorite shows, but this one is about possible Civil War gold at the bottom of Lake Michigan. I personally do believe that there is gold at the bottom of the lake and I hope Kevin Dykstra and his team are able to find it.

And my last couple of favorites are music favorites. The first is Take Me To The Pilot by Elton John. I came across this song in a very random way, I was on YouTube watching an old episode of the Graham Norton Show, which I love, and Elton was a guest along with Jack Black and they got talking about the song and I knew I had heard the title before but couldn’t remember the song itself. So I looked it up and it’s great, a really fun song.

My next song favorite is Mr. Blue Sky by ELO. I’ve loved this song for a long time, but have come back to it recently because it’s a fantastic spring and summer song. It’s one that you want to play with the windows down.

My last music favorite is Jeff Lynne’s ELO Wembley Or Bust album from their concert at Wembley Stadium in 2017. Top to bottom it’s a fantastic album full of amazing songs, I don’t know that I could pick one favorite but I love All Over The World, Rockaria, Shine A Little Love and When I Was A Boy, that one reminds me of my dad and if I keep listing songs I’ll end up listing the whole album. It’s on iTunes and YouTube so definitely go and give it a listen along with the other songs I mentioned.

That about wraps it up for this post, if we had any of the same favorites this month let me know and if not I’d love to know what you did love during March.

Until next time, enjoy your favorites and I hope you had a great March :).
