Recent Makeup Look: Purple Smokey Eye

Recently I did a makeup look that I hadn’t done before, a purple smokey eye, and I thought it would be fun to walk through it with you guys and show you what I used because it was a lot of fun and I’m really happy with the way it turned out.

So the first thing I did is prime my face using the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Quench Hydrating Primer. I’ve been using this for a while and I really like it, it helps to wake up your face and it gives you a really nice base to work with.

Then I went in with my foundation, the Covergirl + Olay Simply Ageless Foundation in 205 Ivory. From there I applied the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 5, Ivory to highlight under my eyes and a few other places. To top all that off I used the Kat Von D Beauty Lock-It Setting Powder in Translucent. This is probably my favorite powder, but the Laura Mercier Setting Powder is a close second. And I put this all over the face as well as doing some baking under the eyes.

For the rest of my face the first thing I did is bronze using the Benefit Hoola bronzer. I’ve used Hoola on and off for a while and it always has a place in my makeup bag, it’s so good and it gives you such a nice color. Then I used the Model Co Peach Bellini blush. This blush is really pretty, it has a nice shimmer and it’s buildable. And for my highlight I used the Tini Beauty Barfly Highlighter in Candlelit. This is one of my favorite highlighters, it’s a really pretty pink and when the light hits it you get a really pretty glow.

For my eyes the first thing I did was prime using the Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base.

Then I went in with the Too Faced I Believe In Pink palette. I’ve used one or two colors from this palette but haven’t really played with it too much. The first color I used was Spoiled Rotten and I put that in the crease and down on the eyelid but not all the way down. Then I used Wish For It on the outer edge and brought that in about halfway on the lid and blended. I then took Pink Christmas and put it in the inner corner and out to where Wish For It was and blended lightly where those two shadows met. Because I wanted a little more of a shimmer, I took Pearl from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry palette and put a bit of that on top of Pink Christmas. As for eyeliner, I used the Kat Von D Beauty Tattoo Liner in Trooper. Benefit BAD gal BANG! mascara was next and lipstick wise I used the Colourpop Lippie Stix in Slacker. I love the Colourpop Lippie Stix, this one is a gorgeous peachy shade, super pigmented and the formula is fantastic. And I topped it off with the Supergoop Defense Refresh Setting Mist Broad Spectrum SPF 50.
