This weeks race took us to Richmond, Virginia for the NHRA Virginia Nationals and what a race it was.
Starting with Top Fuel, the ladder looked like this; #1 Tony Schumacher (3.77), #2 Brittany Force (3.80) vs #15 Bill Litton, #3 Terry McMillen (3.81) vs #14 Terry Haddock (4.24), #4 Doug Kalitta (3.82) vs #13 Dan Mercier (3.94), #5 Leah Pritchett (3.83) vs #12 Clay Millican (3.90), #6 Steve Torrence (3.83) vs #11 Scott Palmer (3.89), #7 Mike Salinas (3.84) vs #10 Antron Brown (3.87) and #8 Richie Crampton (3.86) vs #9 Dom Lagana (3.86). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Tony Schumacher (3.82) and Richie Crampton (3.87), Doug Kalitta (3.93) and Leah Pritchett (4.63), Bill Litton (4.02) and Antron Brown (3.86) and Terry McMillen (3.94) and Steve Torrence (3.81). The semifinals were Richie Crampton (3.80) vs Doug Kalitta (3.81) and Antron Brown (3.86) vs Steve Torrence (3.79). The finals featured Doug Kalitta (4.00) and the Mac Tools team and Steve Torrence (3.87) and the Capco team. With the winner being Steve Torrence (3.81). This is Steve’s fourth win of the season.
Next we have Funny Car, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Courtney Force (3.98) vs #16 Jeff Diehl (4.28), #2 Robert Hight (4.03) vs #15 Cruz Pedregon (4.15), #3 Ron Capps (4.03) vs #14 Tim Wilkerson (4.15), #4 JR Todd (4.04) vs #13 Bob Tasca (4.11), #5 Jack Beckman (4.05) vs #12 Del Worsham (4.11), #6 Jonnie Lindberg (4.05) vs #11 Matt Hagan (4.08), #7 John Force (4.06) vs #10 Tommy Johnson Jr (4.08) and #8 Jim Campbell (4.07) vs #9 Shawn Langdon (4.08). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Courtney Force (4.20) and Jim Campbell (4.21), JR Todd (4.42) and Del Worsham (4.82), Cruz Pedregon (4.25) and John Force (4.14) and Tim Wilkerson (4.13) and Jonnie Lindberg (4.09). The semifinals were Courtney Force (3.97) vs JR Todd (4.07) and John Force (4.09) vs Tim Wilkerson (4.01). The finals featured Courtney Force (4.06) and the Advanced Auto Parts team and John Force (4.07) and the Peak team. With the winner being Courtney Force (4.03). This is Courtney’s fourth win of the season.
Moving on we have Pro Stock, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Greg Anderson (6.57) vs #16 Tommy Lee (6.95), #2 Bo Butner (6.57) vs #15 Wally Stroupe (6.76), #3 Jeg Coughlin (6.57) vs John Gaydosh (6.72), #4 Vincent Nobile (6.58) vs #13 Val Smeland (6.68), #5 Tanner Gray (6.58) vs #12 Kenny Delco (6.65), #6 Chris McGaha (6.59) vs #11 Buddy Perkinson (6.62), #7 Alex Laughlin (6.59) vs #10 Erica Enders (6.60) and #8 Jason Line (6.59) vs #9 Drew Skillman (6.59). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Greg Anderson (6.61) and Drew Skillman (6.63), Vincent Nobile (6.62) and Tanner Gray (6.63), Bo Butner (6.63) and Erica Enders (6.66) and Jeg Coughlin (6.61) and Chris McGaha (6.63). The semifinals were Drew Skillman (6.61) vs Tanner Gray (6.59) and Erica Enders (6.78) vs Chris McGaha (6.60). The finals featured Tanner Gray (6.63) and the Gray Motorsports team and Erica Enders (6.63) and the Elite Motorsports team. With the winner being Tanner Gray (6.59). This is Tanner’s second win of the season.
And finally we have Pro Stock Motorcycle, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Hector Arana Jr (6.79) vs #16 Kelly Clontz (6.96), #2 Andrew Hines (6.83) vs #15 Hector Arana (6.96), #3 Matt Smith (6.83) vs #14 Cory Reed (6.93), #4 Eddie Krawiec (6.85) vs #13 Mark Paquette (6.93), #5 LE Tonglet (6.85) vs #12 John Hall (6.92), #6 Jerry Savoie (6.86) vs #11 Jim Underdahl (6.92), #7 Scotty Pollacheck (6.87) vs #10 Joey Gladstone (6.88) and #8 Steve Johnson (6.88) vs #9 Angie Smith (6.88). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Hector Arana Jr (6.86) and Angie Smith (6.90), Eddie Krawiec (6.93) and LE Tonglet (6.88), Andrew Hines (6.88) and Scotty Pollacheck (6.93) and Matt Smith (6.87) and Jerry Savoie (6.88). The semifinals were Hector Arana Jr (6.84) vs LE Tonglet (6.87) and Andrew Hines (6.85) vs Matt Smith (6.88). The finals featured LE Tonglet (6.84) and the Nitrofish team and Andrew Hines (6.92) and the Vance and Hines Harley Davidson team. With the winner being LE Tonglet (6.84). This is LE’s first win of the season.
The next race will be the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals June 15-17 in Bristol, Tennessee.
