Racing in New Jersey

Hi everyone,

This weeks race took us to Englishtown, New Jersey for the NHRA Summernationals and what an exciting race it was.

Starting with Top Fuel, with 14 cars the ladder looked like this; #1 Antron Brown (3.71) vs #14 Blake Alexander (5.72), #2 Steve Torrence (3.72) vs #13 Smax Smith (4.92), #3 Doug Kalitta (3.73) vs #12 Dom Lagana (3.82), #4 Shawn Langdon (3.73) vs #11 Scott Palmer (3.80), #5 Brittany Force (3.76) vs #10 Troy Coughlin Jr (3.80), #6 Tony Schumacher (3.76) vs #9 Leah Pritchett (3.78) and #7 Terry McMillen (3.78) vs #8 Clay Millican (3.78). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Antron Brown (3.70), Scott Palmer (3.88) and Brittany Force (3.80), Steve Torrence (3.83) and Clay Millican (3.80) and Doug Kalitta (3.76) and Tony Schumacher (3.83). The semifinals were Antron Brown (6.62) vs Brittany Force (3.83) and Steve Torrence (3.82) vs Doug Kalitta (3.80). The finals featured Antron Brown (3.78) and the Matco Tools team and Steve Torrence (3.82) and the Capco team. With the winner being Steve Torrence (3.85). This is Steve’s third win of the season.

Next we have Funny Car, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Courtney Force (3.86) vs #16 Jeff Diehl (6.43), #2 Robert Hight (3.88) vs #15 JR Todd (4.05), #3 Ron Capps (3.88) vs #14 Del Worsham (4.04), #4 Jack Beckman (3.90) vs #13 Jim Campbell (4.02), #5 Cruz Pedregon (3.91) vs #12 John Force (4.01), #6 Tim Wilkerson (3.94) vs #12 Alexis DeJoria (3.97), #7 Tommy Johnson Jr (3.94) vs #10 Bob Tasca (3.96) and #8 Jonnie Lindberg (3.95) vs #9 Matt Hagan (3.95). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Courtney Force (4.01) and Matt Hagan (4.01), Jack Beckman (4.08) and Cruz Pedregon (4.72), Robert Hight (4.88) and Tommy Johnson Jr (4.01) and Ron Capps (4.66) and Alexis DeJoria (4.04). The semifinals were Courtney Force (4.09) vs Jack Beckman (4.28) and Robert Hight (4.04) vs Ron Capps (4.23). The finals featured Jack Beckman (9.14) and the Infinite Hero team and Ron Capps (4.19) and the NAPA Auto Parts team. With the winner being Jack Beckman (4.10). This is Jack’s first win of the season.

Moving on we have Pro Stock where with 14 cars the ladder looked like this; #1 Bo Butner (6.55) vs #14 Val Smeland (6.86), #2 Tanner Gray (6.55) vs #13 John Gaydosh (6.71), #3 Jason Line (6.55) vs #12 Alan Prusiensky (6.65), #4 Allen Johnson (6.56) vs #11 Matt Hartford (6.63), #5 Greg Anderson (6.57) vs #10 Kenny Delco (6.62), #6 Jeg Coughlin (6.58) vs #9 Erica Enders (6.59) and #7 Drew Skillman (6.59) vs #8 Vincent Nobile (6.59). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Bo Butner (6.61), Allen Johnson (6.63) and Greg Anderson (6.64), John Gaydosh (6.80) and Vincent Nobile (6.75) and Alan Prusiensky (6.80) and Jeg Coughlin (6.61). The semifinals were Bo Butner (6.61) vs Greg Anderson (6.61) and Vincent Nobile (6.64) vs Jeg Coughlin (6.64). The finals featured Greg Anderson (6.63) and the Summit Racing Equipment team and Vincent Nobile (6.64) and the Mountain View Tire team. With the winner being Greg Anderson (6.61). This is Greg’s second win of the season.

And finally we have Pro Stock Motorcycle, where the ladder looked like this; #1 LE Tonglet (6.80) vs #16 Kelly Clontz (6.91), #2 Hector Arana Jr (6.80) vs #15 Melissa Surber (6.90), #3 Hector Arana (6.82) vs #14 Steve Johnson (6.90), #4 Jerry Savoie (6.82) vs #13 Cory Reed (6.89), #5 Scotty Pollacheck (6.84) vs #12 Angelle Sampey (6.87), #6 Joey Gladstone (6.84) vs #11 Karen Stoffer (6.87), #7 Chip Ellis (6.86) vs #10 Eddie Krawiec (6.86) and #8 Andrew Hines (6.86) vs #9 Angie Smith (6.86). The winners and who they would face in the second round were LE Tonglet (6.81) and Angie Smith (6.94), Jerry Savoie (6.85) and Scotty Pollacheck (6.84), Hector Arana Jr (6.81) and Eddie Krawiec (6.87) and Hector Arana (6.94) and Karen Stoffer (6.90). The semifinals were Angie Smith (6.94) vs Jerry Savoie (6.85) and Hector Arana Jr (6.82) vs Karen Stoffer (6.89). The finals featured Jerry Savoie (6.87) and the White Alligator Racing team and Hector Arana Jr (6.85) and the Lucas Oil team. With the winner being Jerry Savoie (6.91). This is Jerry’s first win of the season.

The next race will be the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals June 16-18 in Bristol, Tennessee.
