Racing in New Jersey

Hi everyone,

This weeks race took us to Englishtown, New Jersey for the NHRA Summernationals. And a good race it was.

Starting off with Top Fuel, the ladder looked like this; #1 Steve Torrence (3.73) vs #16 Smax Smith, #2 Antron Brown (3.74) vs #15 Terry Haddock (8.96), #3 Shawn Langdon (3.74) vs #14 Shawn Reed (4.34), #4 Brittany Force (3.75) vs #13 Luigi Novelli (4.33), #5 Doug Kalitta (3.76) vs #12 Leah Prichett (3.87), #6 Dom Lagana (3.79) vs #11 Clay Millican (3.86), #7 Terry McMillen (3.81) vs #10 Tony Schumacher (3.84) and #8 JR Todd (3.81) vs #9 Richie Crampton (3.82). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Steve Torrence (3.87) and JR Todd (3.75), Brittany Force (3.84) and Doug Kalitta (3.80), Antron Brown (4.07) and Tony Schumacher (3.79) and Shawn Langdon (3.81) and Dom Lagana (4.41). The semifinals were Steve Torrence (4.48) vs Brittany Force (4.40) and Tony Schumacher (4.15) vs Shawn Langdon (4.50). The finals featured Steve Torrence (4.32) and the Capco team and Tony Schumacher (3.84) and the Army team. With the winner being Steve Torrence (4.03). This is Steve’s second win of the year.

Next we have Funny Car, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Ron Capps (3.87) vs #16 John Hale (4.49), #2 Matt Hagan (3.90) vs #15 Jim Campbell (4.32), #3 Robert Hight (3.91) vs #14 Jeff Diehl (4.10), #4 Del Worsham (3.93) vs #13 Blake Alexander (4.09), #5 Tommy Johnson Jr (3.93) vs #12 Cruz Pedregon (4.06), #6 Chad Head (3.93) vs #11 Tim Wilkerson (4.03), #7 Alexis DeJoria (3.93) vs #10 Jack Beckman (3.98) and #8 Courtney Force (3.94) vs #9 John Force (3.96). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Ron Capps (4.05) and John Force (3.98), Del Worsham (4.62) and Tommy Johnson Jr (4.03), Matt Hagan (3.95) and Jack Beckman (3.97) and Jeff Diehl (5.18) and Tim Wilkerson (3.99). The semifinals were Ron Capps (3.99) vs Del Worsham (4.33) and Jack Beckman (4.10) vs Jeff Diehl (4.26). The finals were a battle of the DSR teammates. Ron Capps (3.96) and the NAPA Auto Parts team vs Jack Beckman and the Infinite Hero team. With the winner being Ron Capps (3.95). This is Ron’s third win of the year and second win in a row.

Moving on, we have Pro Stock. And with 15 cars the ladder looked like this; #1 Jason Line (6.51), #2 Greg Anderson (6.53) vs #15 Charlie Westcott Jr (6.88), #3 Bo Butner (6.54) vs #14 John Gaydosh Jr (6.87), #4 Vincent Nobile (6.54) vs #13 V Gaines (6.79), #5 Allen Johnson (6.56) vs #12 Alex Laughlin (6.62), #6 Shane Gray (6.57) vs #11 Kenny Delco (6.62), #7 Drew Skillman (6.60) vs #10 Chris McGaha (6.62) and #8 Erica Enders (6.61) vs #9 Jeg Coughlin (6.62). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Jason Line (6.59) and Jeg Coughlin (6.70), Vincent Nobile (6.64) and Allen Johnson (6.68), Greg Anderson (6.60) and Drew Skillman (7.16) and John Gaydosh Jr (6.78) and Kenny Delco (6.71). The semifinals were Jason Line (6.61) vs Vincent Nobile (6.63) and Greg Anderson (6.61) vs Kenny Delco (6.68). The finals featured Jason Line (6.66) and the Summit Racing Equipment team and Greg Anderson (6.60) and the Summit Racing Equipment team. With the winner being Greg Anderson (6.61). This now makes it Jason: 5 and Greg: 5.

And finally we have Pro Stock Motorcycle, where the ladder looked like this; #1 Eddie Krawic (6.78) vs #16 Brian Pretzel (6.98), #2 Jerry Savoie (6.78) vs #15 Cory Reed (6.97), #3 Hector Arana Jr (6.79) vs #14 Jim Underdahl (6.95), #4 Andrew Hines (6.80) vs #13 Micheal Phillips (6.92), #5 Angelle Sampey (6.80) vs #12 Michael Ray (6.88), #6 Chip Ellis (6.82) vs #11 Scotty Pollacheck (6.85), #7 LE Tonglet (6.83) vs #10 Karen Stoffer (6.85) and #8 Steve Johnson (6.84) vs #9 Hector Arana (6.85). The winners and who they would face in the second round were Eddie Krawic (6.86) and Steve Johnson (6.94), Andrew Hines (6.87) and Angelle Sampey (6.83), Jerry Savoie (6.84) and LE Tonglet (6.86) and Hector Arana Jr (6.92) and Chip Ellis (6.86). The semifinals were Eddie Krawic (6.86) vs Angelle Sampey (6.85) and Jerry Savoie (6.84) vs Chip Ellis (6.90). The finals featured Angelle Sampey (6.85) and the Star Racing team and Jerry Savoie (6.87) and the White Alligator Racing team. With the winner being Angelle Sampey (6.87). This is Angelle’s first win of the year and first win since 2007.

The next race will be the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals, June 17-19 in Bristol, Tennessee.
